Contribution to the taxonomy of the knowledge of the Italian and northern Balkanic taxa in the Centaurea rupestris group (Asteraceae).

The morphology of the Italian-Balkanic populations of the Centaurea rupestris group was studied in order to clarify the taxonomy. The names C. ceratophylla, C. arachnoidea, C. adonidifolia, C. dichroantha, C. rupestris var. inermis are lectotypified. The taxonomic status of C. adonidifolia was re-evaluated and a new combination is suggested: C. arachnoidea subsp. adonidifolia (Rchb.) F. Conti, Moraldo & Ricceri, comb. & stat. nov. The new taxa here described include C. ceratophylla subsp. danielae F. Conti, Moraldo & Ricceri, subsp. nova and C. arachnoidea subsp. montis-ferrati Ricceri, Moraldo & F. Conti, subsp. nova

The past, present and future for intellectual capital research:an overview

When we started this project three years ago, we started with the aim “to provide an overview of Intellectual Capital (IC) in practice and beyond. It will focus on the role of IC in organizations and between organizations, institutions and beyond”. The Routledge Companions are similar to what some publishers call ‘handbooks’, being prestige reference works providing an overview of a whole subject area or sub-discipline, which survey the state of the discipline including emerging and cutting edge areas. The Routledge Companions produce a comprehensive, up to date, definitive reference that are usually cited as an authoritative source on the subject. Our goal in undertaking this project is to provide a collection of essays that address cross-cutting IC issues. We believe we have achieved our aims and our collected works should be of interest to people who want to understand IC from a variety of perspectives with a view that readers may or may not have background knowledge, as well as students who are learning to work with a particular aspect of IC and the management of knowledge. The material in this Routledge Companion relates not only to theory, but also to practice and case studies. We are proud that this book features leading academic, policy, and practitioner articles examining the latest developments in the field of IC. The contents are organized thematically into sections that reflect the five stages of IC research developments (Dumay et al., 2017). We believe no one stage is more important than another – the themes and stages provide a useful framework with which to present the 30 chapters, written by a variety of authors and covering a wide range of subject areas

The management of knowledge resources within private organisations

National economies have rapidly moved from their industrial economic base and shifted towards a knowledge base, in which wealth creation is associated with the ability to develop and manage knowledge resources (KR). Several national and international institutions have produced various Intellectual Capital (IC) frameworks and guidelines to guide in the management, measurement and reporting of IC. However, there appear to be few studies of private company practices (Gutharie & Ricceri, 2009). The above informed the following two research questions of this study: (1) In what ways, did the private companies express their strategy and the role of KR within it? (2) What tools, including 'inscription devices', were used for understanding and managing KR within a specific organisation

The strategic management of knowledge resources

This paper reviews contemporary international IC frameworks and determines their strengths and weaknesses and from this a new model is developed. The proposed SMKR framework focuses on organisational sustainability and provides new understandings as to how the organisation can engage with the following elements: stakeholder engagement, establishment of a dynamic view of knowledge resources management and a focus on emergent strategies. It suggests that policy developments in the area of knowledge resource management, measurement and reporting should include these important elements that receive only limited attention within contemporary international IC frameworks. The main implications of this paper are that current contemporary IC frameworks are limited and that to overcome these limitations an engagement with relevant aspects of the literature pertaining to strategy, performance measurement and management of IC is necessary. Finally, the paper contributes to ongoing policy debates about suitable frameworks for the managing and reporting of knowledge resources

An extension of a multiplicity theorem by Ricceri with an application to a class of quasilinear equations

A recent multiplicity result by Ricceri, stated for equations in Hilbert spaces, is extended to a wider class of Banach spaces. Applications to nonlinear boundary value problems involving the p-Laplacian are presented

    Intellectual capital a user's perspective

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to offer an empirical account of how a group of financial professionals uses intellectual capital (IC) information, and the value that the group imputes to IC reporting. The paper also aims to understand the group’s ability to privately access information that might help them determine the value of a company’s IC in support of their decision-making. Design/methodology/approach – Survey administered to a group of financial professionals in Hong Kong. Findings – Respondents would like companies to be more transparent and provide more information on their IC. Respondents believe that greater IC disclosure would be rewarded with an increase in the company’s share price – even though few respondents thought that they would pay more themselves for enhanced disclosure. Further, most respondents seem to be currently addressing their IC information needs through private information channels, and rate the publicly provided information as poorly suited to their needs. Practical implications – Greater regulatory control may be needed to ensure that information being communicated privately also enters the public domain in a timely fashion. It is also suggested that making market participants more aware of the positive effects of voluntary disclosure on stock prices may lead to an increase in voluntary disclosure. Originality/value – The paper provides empirical evidence on the value relevance of IC information from a user’s perspective
