Verdade e coragem: cinismo na ficção de Rubem Fonseca

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura Brasileira, Floriaqnópolis, 2013Minha dissertação faz uma leitura de um mo(vi)mento de escrita e da produção ficcional de Rubem Fonseca, autor brasileiro, na medida em que este assume seu antagonismo diante da cena social, de forma a propor textos ficcionais focados em seu tempo, nas grandes cidades e nos sujeitos que nelas circulam. Assim, sugiro uma aproximação entre a condição de engajamento do autor, que transpõe esse compromisso a personagens e situações ficcionais que problematizam a verdade sobre sociedades e sujeitos ambíguos, e uma importante noção apresentada a nós por Michel Foucault em A coragem da verdade: a parresía cínica. Para isso seleciono, dentro da ainda ativa produção ficcional de Rubem Fonseca, três narrativas presentes na reunião de contos Feliz ano novo, publicada originalmente em 1975 e integralmente censurada no ano seguinte: o conto que dá nome à obra, Feliz ano novo; Passeio noturno (parte I); e Intestino grosso; por apresentarem personagens e situações característicos do que podemos enquadrar nas definições de parresía cínica e especialmente do cinismo moderno. Para articulação do estudo, evoco então a conceituação apresentada por Michel Foucault para a noção de parresía, importante forma de veridição que surge na antiguidade e abarca em si uma caracterização fundamental sobre a forma como se dá, nesse momento, a constituição do sujeito em relação a si e ao outro através de seus atos e de seu dizer. No entanto, é especialmente na modalidade cínica de parresía que busco escopo para este estudo, uma prática que abarca a bíos como objeto de preocupação estética. Diante da elucidação desses conceitos, aproximo a discussão a nosso tempo lembrando a proposição de Peter Sloterdijk sobre como se constitui o cínico moderno, a nova configuração do modo de existência desse sujeito diante de um tempo de diferentes e múltiplas dissimulações, de forma a buscar nos personagens e situações ficcionais delineados nos contos de Rubem Fonseca a articulação entre elementos da parresía cínica moderna e da desenvolvida na antiguidade. <br
De Rubem Fonseca a Paulo Lins: a violência na literatura dos 90
No full textTese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura, Florianópolis, 2011Este trabalho procura verificar a forma pela qual se dá a presença da violência na literatura brasileira dos anos 1990, buscando entender o significado social dessa violência, passo necessário para se entender, inclusive, a relação entre a forma literária assentada na violência e a formação social do Brasil contemporâneo. Procuramos analisar o romance Agosto de Rubem Fonseca e entender seu significado como romance histórico nos anos 90, década em que se tentava encerrar de vez as aspirações nacionais dos anos 50, época narrada no livro. Igualmente imerso na temática da violência e revelador das características fragmentárias dos anos 90, temos o romance Cidade de Deus, de Paulo Lins, que, como romance etnográfico, procura dar voz a uma população normalmente silenciada e vítima do próprio processo de violenta modernização e falta de perspectivas dos anos 90. Diante das questões sobre a violência na literatura e em nossa própria sociedade, em sua faceta interpessoal e cotidiana, o estudo desses dois romances é importante para compreendermos não só os caminhos de nossa literatura, em termos de uma tradição literária, mas também a maneira como sua estrutura pode nos ajudar a entender a dinâmica de nossa própria sociedade nos anos 90.This work intends to verify the form in which violence is present in the Brazilian literature of the 1990´s, aiming to understand the social meaning of this violence, step required to also understand the relation between the literary form grounded on violence and the social formation of contemporary Brazil. We proceed to analyze the Rubem Fonseca´s Agosto novel trying to understand its meaning as an historic novel written during the 90´s, a decade where it was bound to finish the national aspirations so the 50´s, the narrated period. Equally immersed in the violence theme and revealing the fragmentary characteristics of the 90´s, we have Paulo Lins´s novel Cidade de Deus, which, as an ethnographic novel, intend to give voice to a population usually silenced and victim of a process of violent modernization and lack of perspectives in the 90´s. Facing questions about violence in literature and violence in our own society, in its daily interpersonal display, the study of these novels are important for the comprehension of not only the paths of our literature, in terms of a literary tradition, but also the way in which its structure can help us understand the dynamics of our own society in the 90´s

A Neotropical species, all of whose known parasitic stages are usually found on Didelphimorphia: Didelphidae, but immature stages are also commonly collected from Rodentia: Cricetidae. No full textRubem Fonseca is considered a key author in the introduction of crime fiction in Brazil. This article reviews his contribution to the genre and analyzes the specifics of his narrative in the context of Brazilian literature, in which Fonseca breaks from and exceeds the traditional dichotomies between high and popular literature. Fonseca becomes part of the distinct tradition of crime fiction, which he reinterprets differently in his short stories by giving voice to the marginalized, and in his novels by incorporating elements of hardboiled, noir fiction, and even whodunit. The character of Mandrake is situated in a context that increasingly includes paraliterary concerns

Holotype ♂ (USNM), Panama: Darién, Darién National Park, field station near to the Perresenico stream, 8 ° 01' 10.41 ''N; 77 ° 44 ' 17.44 '' W, 94 m asl, 17–22 November 2014, R. Salas, PE Gutiérrez Fonseca, light trap. Paratypes: 1 ♂, 3 ♀ (PEGFC). Same location. 1 ♂, 2 ♀ (MIUP). Same location. Adult habitus. General color yellow. Head yellow, with a small brown spot, very diffuse, between ocelli; antennae brown with base yellow. Pronotum yellow, sides with a soft light brown, and margin yellow. Femora mostly yellow with a dark apical band. Tibiae dark yellow with a dark apical band. Wing membrane transparent, veins yellow. Cerci yellow (Fig. 2). Male. Forewing length 9.5–10 mm. Hammer thimble-shaped, with height subequal to apical diameter (Fig. 3). Aedeagal apex simple, rounded at tip; shoulders project slightly, giving apex a trilobed appearance (Fig. 4). Lateral aspect of aedeagus with acute tip (Fig. 5). Ventral membranous lobes large, covering shoulders and most of apex (Fig. 6). Dorsal keel absent, aedeagal hooks slender. Female. Forewing length 11.5–12.5 mm. Body coloration similar to male. Subgenital plate with four subequal lobes, median notch deep and V-shaped. Mesal sclerite of sternum 9 V-shaped; sterna covered with short fine setae, lateral areas sparsely clothed with large setae (Fig. 7). Nymph. Unknown. Etymology. The species name, based on the type locality at the Darién National Park, is used as a noun in apposition. Comments. Anacroneuria darien is similar to A. curiosa Stark 1998. However, the lateral bands of the pronotum are dark brown in A. curiosa and light brown in A. darien. The aedeagus is also similar to that of A. curiosa, but A. darien lacks a dorsal keel. The aedeagus of A. darien is also similar to the Colombian species A. albimacula Klapálek 1921 (Stark et al. 1999), differing in several structures, such as the membranous lobes. These species also differ in their pronotal stripes. In addition, the description of the subgenital plate of A. darien is very similar to the description of Anacroneuria sp. F. by Harper (1992). However, the pronotum of Anacroneuria sp. Hedging (Co)Variance Risk with Variance Swaps
No full textIn this paper, we quantify the impact on the representative agent's welfare of the presence of derivative products spanning covariance risk. In an asset allocation framework with stochastic (co)variances, we allow the agent to invest not only in the stocks but also in the associated variance swaps. We solve this optimal portfolio allocation program using the Wishart Affine Stochastic Correlation framework, as introduced in Da Fonseca, Grasselli and Tebaldi (2007): it shares the analytical tractability of the single-asset counterpart represented by the [36] model and it seems to be the natural framework for studying multivariate problems when volatilities as well as correlations are stochastic. What is more, this framework shows how variance swaps can implicitly span the covariance risk. We provide the explicit solution to the portfolio optimization problem and we discuss the structure of the portfolio loadings with respect to model parameters. Using real data on major indexes, we find that the impact of covariance risk on the optimal strategy is huge. It first leads to a portfolio that is mostly driven by the market price of volatility-covolatility risks. It is then strongly leveraged through variance swaps, thus leading to a much higher utility, when compared to the case when investing in such derivatives is not possible
