    No full text

The COVID-19 pandemic is putting our society under incredible health, emotional, and economic stress. Facing its harmful effects and their uncertainty, the Executive Board of the Italian Statistical Society SIS) and the Local Organizing Committee, to ensure the highest level of safety for members and delegates, deliberated to cancel the 50th Meeting of the Italian Statistical Society originally planned to be held in Pisa in June 2020 and to postpone the conference to June 2021. The Executive Board and the Local Organizing Committee continue to monitor closely the pandemic evolving situation, and keep the members of SIS and the researchers informed about the potential new dates for the next meeting. To give value to the work of those who prepared their presentation for the conference, the Program Committee decided to publish the volume Book of short papers - SIS 2020 despite the conference cancellation

Modelling by Statistic in Research of Mathematics Education

The aim of this paper is to study the quantitative tools of the research in didactics. We want to investigate the theoretical-experimental relationships between factorial and implicative analysis. This chapter consists of three parts. The first one deals with the didactic research and some fundamental tools: the a priori analysis of a didactic situation, the collection of experimental data and the statistic analysis of data. The purpose of the second and the third section is to introduce the experimental comparison between the factorial and the implicative analysis in two researches in mathematics education

The role of immunotherapy for the adjuvant treatment of BRAF-mutant melanoma

    No full text
The introduction of anti-PD-1 drugs as an adjuvant treatment for high risk melanoma has radically changed the everyday clinical practice, with an impact on the reduction of the risk of relapse close to 50%, as observed in phase 3 clinical trials. In patients whose tumors harbor a BRAF mutation, the combination of BRAF plus MEK inhibitors is also a valuable option, with outcomes in terms of 3-year RFS similar to those observed with anti-PD-1 immunotherapy. However, numerous questions remain unanswered, particularly which is the best treatment in BRAF-mutant patients. The aim of this review was to analyze the results of randomized phase 3 clinical trials, with a focus on some hot topics and discussing the role of immunotherapy for the adjuvant treatment of BRAF-mutant melanoma
