Ertan Alpakut ile sözlü tarih görüşmesi
Bu görüşme, Genç Hayat Vakfı tarafından, Sokağımdan Tarih Yazıyorum başlığı altında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşmeler, İstanbul'un, Beyoğlu, Fatih, Eyüp, Kağıthane, Şişli, Maltepe, Üsküdar, Tuzla, Beykoz ve Sarıyer ilçelerinde yaşayan ve bu ilçelerdeki ortaöğretim kurumlarında eğitim gören lise öğrencileri tarafından yapılmıştır. Bu proje kapsamında, Beyoğlu ilçesinde yapılan görüşmelerin sayısı 19'dur.1958 yılında İstanbul ilinin Beyoğlu ilçesine bağlı Kasımpaşa semtinde doğan Ertan Alpakut, eğitimine Hacı Hüsrev İlkokulu’nda başlar. Para kazanmak için okul çıkışlarında çalıştığını ve sonrasında 15 sene boyunca profesyonel olarak futbol oynadığını anlatır. Beyoğlu’na çıktıkları zamanlarda sinemaya ya da o dönemlerde çok faal olan Çiçek Pasajı’na giden Alpakut, gazinolardaki eğlence hayatından bahsederken bir çok ünlü şarkıcıyı bu gazinolarda dinleme fırsatı bulduğunu da ifade eder.Genç Hayat VakfıDoğan, H., Alpakut, U.. On the evolution of the radio pulsar PSR J1734−3333
Recent measurements showed that the period derivative of the ‘hig
h-B’ radio pulsar PSR J1734−3333 is increasing with time. For neutron stars evolving with fallback disks, this rotational behavior is expected in certain phases of the long-term evolution. Using the same model as employed earlier to explain the evolution of anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma-ray repeaters, we show that the period,the first and second period derivatives and the X-ray luminosity of this source can simultaneously acquire the observed values for a neutron star evolving with a fallback disk. We find that the required strength of the dipole field that can produce the source properties is in the range of 10^12 − 10^13 G on the pole of the neutron star. When the model source
reaches the current state properties of PSR J1734−3333, accretion onto the star has not started yet, allowing the source to operate as a regular radio pulsar. Our results imply that PSR J1734−3333 is at an age of ∼3×10^4 −2×10^5years. Such sources will have properties like the X-ray dim isolated neutron stars or transient AXPs at a later epoch of weak accretion from the diminished fallback disk

A natural limit on the observable periods of anomalous x-ray pulsars and soft gamma-ray repeaters
We investigate the dependence of the evolution of neutron stars with fallback disks on the strength of the magnetic dipole field of the star. Using the same model as employed by Ertan et al. (2009), we obtain model curves for different dipole fields showing that the neutron stars with magnetic dipole fields greater than ∼ 1013 G on the surface of the star are not likely to become anomalous X‐ray pulsars (AXPs) and soft gamma‐ray repeaters (SGRs). Other sources with conventional dipole fields evolve into the AXP phase if their disk can penetrate the light cylinder. The upper limits to the observed periods of AXP and SGRs could be understood if the disk becomes inactive below a low temperature around 100 K. We summarize our present and earlier results indicated by the evolutionary model curves of these sources with an emphasis on the importance of the minimum disk temperature and the X‐ray irradiation in the long‐term evolution of AXPs and SGRs with fallback disks
High Performance Parallel Single-Phase Converter Reconfiguration for Enhanced Availability
Paralleling power converters is a common practice in industries to enhance total power rating, reliability, and availability of the system. In case of fault occurring in systems with parallel converters, the faulty power converter can be isolated and the system can still be operated at reduced power level. In this paper, a grid-connected power converter consisting of two parallel H-bridge converter, with low ground leakage current, is considered. Two contingency configurations, that are also of low ground leakage current, are proposed to enhance the availability of the system. This is done by reconfiguring the power circuit to a single H-bridge, in the case of failure of the other bridge. The power converter is experimentally tested with the proposed configurations for experimental validation. The results show that, the second configuration has better performance in terms of power loss and current THD
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Morning or evening exercise effects on the heart rate circadian rhythm above the Arctic Circle
The potency of exercise as a nonphotic time cue compared to the solar cycle in influencing entrainment (organism synchronization within the 24-h period) has yet to be defined. Above the Arctic Circle during winter the sun remains below the horizon for several weeks and during summer remains above the horizon for several weeks. The goal of the present study was to investigate the effects related to exercising time on the circadian structure under conditions of lack of daylight and continuous daylight. The experiments were carried out at 70° North, above the Arctic Circle. Ten healthy females (age 24±5 years) were divided into two groups: an exercise and a control group. The subjects in the exercise group performed the same exercise routine at two different times of day (0900 and 1800 hours) both in January (twilight period) and in May (continuous daylight period). Continuous heart rate data were collected and analysed by the cosinor method. The acrophase values were significantly modified in the exercise group during evening exercise in January showing a delay compared with morning exercise and compared with the control group (3 h and 1. 5 h, respectively), while in May this effect was not seen. The results indicate that in continuous daylight, the potency of exercise in modulating the circadian phase seems to be suppressed. However, these findings need to be verified in a larger poulation
