Please free Esha: a participatory communication project
California State University, Northridge (CSUN) graduate student Esha Momeni was arrested by Iranian police in October 2008 while researching her thesis in Tehran. Following that news, Anasa D. Sinegal began planning a candlelight vigil with Esha's classmates in CSUN's Mass Communication program. Sinegal used her news and public relations experience to gamer media coverage of the November 12, 2008 event. Fourteen news agencies reported on the vigil and more than 200 people attended. This thesis project is an archive of the materials Sinegal, and her classmate, Kara Lawton, used to plan the vigil. It can serve as a tool for researchers interested in examining how organizations build media and community awareness of human rights issues.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 152-157). IMPLEMENTASI KEBIJAKAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN EFEKTIVITAS PENANGGULANGAN SAMPAH DI PASAR TATAAN KABUPATEN PESAWARAN
This study mainly wants to know and clarify matters concerning the implementation of policies in increasing the effectiveness of waste management in the Tataan Market, Pesawaran Regency. The purpose of this research is to obtain explanatory knowledge to identify and analyze the implementation of policies in increasing the effectiveness of waste management in the Tataan Market, Pesawaran Regency. The research method used in this research is using qualitative research with descriptive analysis method. The use of this method is to examine and describe qualitatively, how to implement policies in increasing the effectiveness of waste management in the Pesawaran District Management Market. The results showed that the implementation of policies in increasing the effectiveness of waste management at the Tataan Market, Pesawaran Regency, was not optimal because according to the results of the study that the facilities (vehicles, carts, TPS) used were minimal and then there was no Landfills available in the long or medium term. This is in accordance with the results of the study showing that from the dimensions used, namely communication, disposition, quality of resources, and bureaucratic structure, all of these dimensions are still not optimally implemented
APLIKASI PEMBERIAN LILIN AROMATERAPI LAVENDER PADA Nn. S UNTUK MENGURANGI NYERI AKUT DISMENOREA DI WILAYAH CIKOLE
Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain or cramps caused by an imbalance of the hormone
progesterone in the blood. Dysmenorrhea can be felt in the lower abdomen and can spread
to the waist, hips and upper thighs. Dysmenorrhea can be treated with pharmacological
and non-pharmacological therapy. One of the managements of dysmenorrhea with nonpharmacological therapy is giving lavender aromatherapy candles. This paper aims to
apply the use of lavender aromatherapy candles to young women in reducing dysmenorrhea
pain. The method of writing paper uses a case study. The author did lavender aromatherapy
candle therapy once a day for three consecutive days. Giving lavender aromatherapy
candles is done for 15-30 minutes. The results obtained after treating the client using
lavender aromatherapy candle were a decrease in the pain scale from seven (severe pain)
to five (moderate pain) and from score four (moderate pain) to one (mild pain). The results
of using lavender aromatherapy candles are effective for reducing acute pain of
dysmenorrhea in young women. The results of this writing are expected to increase
knowledge, especially for young women so they can apply lavender aromatherapy candles
as a non-pharmacological alternative to reduce dysmenorrhea pain during menstruation
Who is the Scientist Subject? : Affective History of the Gene
This book explores two disparate sets of debates in the history and philosophy of the life sciences: the history of subjectivity in shaping objective science and the history of dominance of reductionism in molecular biology. It questions the dominant conception of the scientist-subject as a neo-Kantian ideal self – that is, the scientist as a unified and wilful, self-determined, self-regulated, active and autonomous, rational subject wilfully driven by social and scientific ethos – in favour of a narrative that shows how the microcosm of reductionism is sustained, adopted, questioned, or challenged in the creative struggles of the scientist-subject. The author covers a century-long history of the concept of the gene as a series of "pioneering moments" through an engagement with life-writings of eminent scientists to show how their ways of being and belonging relate with the making of the science. The scientist-self is theorized as fundamentally a feeling, experiencing, and suffering subject split between the conscious and unconscious and constitutive of personality aspects that are emotional/psychological, "situated" (cultural and ideological), metaphysical, intersubjective, and existential at the same time

Approach Channel Modelling with Advanced Hydroinformatic Tool, Case Study: Small Hydro Power Plant Huta Certeze, Romania
AbstractThe promotion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (eRES) is an imperative of the current period for: environmental reasons, increasing energy independence to the diversification of energy imports and for reasons of economic and social cohesion. Romania was among the first candidate witch transposed in their legislation the Directive 2001/77/EC of the European Parliament and the Council on the promotion of electricity produced from renewable sources (by GD 443/2003) and set an indicative target for 2020, representing 33% eRES share of gross domestic electricity consumption. The European Commission presented its view on an integrated policy framework for climate and energy polices until 2030 in January 2014 suggesting, among others, the reduction of EU domestic greenhouse gas emissions by 40% below the 1990 level by 2030 as well as a moderate increase of the share of renewable energy to at least 27% of the EU's energy consumption by 2030. EREC, among others on behalf of ESHA, called on the Commission and heads of governments for more ambitious goals for all forms of renewable energy. Intention to invest in small hydropower is considered by many private companies, and for this option an old small hydropower plant can be. The main expenses for placement of small hydro are those related to the intake, penstock and the power plant building. There are conditions for such an investment expenses that depend on environmental compliance. Opportunity to purchase the SHP should be viewed in terms of return on investment compared to other business opportunity
Dietary Protein Quality, Muscle Mass, and Strength in Vegetarian Athletes
abstract: Vegetarian diets can provide an abundance of nutrients when planned with care. However, research suggests that vegetarian diets may have lower protein quality than omnivore diets. Current protein recommendations assume that vegetarians obtain a majority of their protein from animal products, like dairy and eggs. Studies have shown that this assumption may not be valid. The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) may not be adequate in vegetarian populations with high protein requirements. The purpose of this study is to analyze dietary protein quality using the DIAAS (Digestible Indispensable Amino Acid Score) method in both vegetarian and omnivore endurance athletes. 38 omnivores and 22 vegetarians submitted 7-day food records which were assessed using nutrition analysis software (Food Processor, ESHA Research, Salem, OR, USA). Dietary intake data was used to calculate DIAAS and determine the amount of available dietary protein in subject diets. Dietary data was compared with the subjects’ lean body mass (obtained using DEXA scan technology), and strength (quantified using peak torque of leg extension and flexion using an isokinetic dynamometer). Statistical analyses revealed significantly higher available protein intake in the omnivore athletes (p<.001). There were significant correlations between available protein intake and strength (p=.016) and available protein intake and lean body mass (p<.001). Omnivore subjects had higher lean body mass than vegetarian subjects (p=.011). These results suggest that vegetarian athletes may benefit from higher overall protein intakes to make up for lower dietary protein quality.Dissertation/ThesisMasters Thesis Nutrition 201
