Education: Studied at Universities of Graz, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Goettingen, and Strasbourg, receiving Ph.D., 1928; also studied at conservatories and academies of music in Vienna and Berlin. Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, New York, N.Y., 1938-1967, professor of musicology and comparative liturgy and head of graduate department; Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel, chairman of department of musicology, 1966-71.
