A noninvasive molecular approach: exploiting species-locus-specific PCR primers in defeating numts and DNA cross-contamination of cercopithecidae

    No full text
The lack of a standardized, noninvasive molecular approach to studying genetic aspects of primates has made it hard for primatologists to decode the evolutionary history of these species. Researchers must optimize their own techniques to fully exploit the available samples. Lack of species-locus-specific primers also contributes to difficulties in using noninvasive genetic samples. Thus, the objectives of this study were to develop a standardized technique to collecting samples noninvasively, propose newly designed species-locus-specific primers, and optimize conditions for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for Macaca fascicularis, M. nemestrina, Trachypithecus cristatus, and T. obscurus. Nine new species-locus-specific primers for three different loci of mitochondrial DNA, namely D-loop, cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI), and cytochrome b, were successfully designed. These primers proved to be efficient in amplifying larger datasets (up to ~1,000 bp) of the targeted species in the optimized PCR conditions. The species-locus-specific primers are able to anneal to host DNA alone in highly contaminated feces of highlighted species. They can also offer alternatives measures in avoiding contamination related to nuclear insertion of mitochondrial pseudogenes (numts)

Errors prevention in manufacturing process through integration of Poka Yoke and TRIZ

    No full text
Integration of Poka Yoke and TRIZ is a method of solving problems by using a different approach. Poka Yoke is a trial and error method while TRIZ is using a systematic approach. The main purpose of this technique is to get rid of product defects by preventing or correcting errors as soon as possible. Blame the workers for their mistakes is not the best way, but the work process should be reviewed so that every workers behavior or movement may not cause errors. This study is to demonstrate the importance of using both of these methods in which everyone in the industry needs to improve quality, increase productivity and at the same time reducing production cost

Fostering Innovative Work Behavior (IWB) in Startup Companies: A Literature Review Study

    No full text
In this study, the author has integrated an array of theoretical understanding and well-established findings to construct a comprehensive framework for nurturing innovative work behavior (IWB) in startup companies using the literature review method. At its core, this framework put the Human Resource Management (HRM) division as a vital catalyst for transformation. HRM's strategic focus encompasses critical domains such as organization design, talent rewards, risk-taking leadership, and continuous people development. Organizational design emphasizes creating a structure conducive to innovation, while talent reward ensures that contributions are acknowledged and incentivized. The encouragement of risk-taking leadership fosters a culture where visionary leaders drive innovation, embracing the notion that greater risk equates to enhanced learning and growth. Simultaneously, people development is central to nurturing continuous learning and personal growth among employees, thus propelling the organization's progress. This holistic and integrated approach acknowledges the intricate interplay of these facets and serves as a robust foundation for cultivating a thriving innovative work culture within the dynamic realm of startup companies. Furthermore, it underscores the pivotal role played by HRM in this endeavor, involving all stakeholders within the organization. This approach is designed to ensure long-term success and prosperity for startups in building innovative work behavior and culture

Drivers of cross-shore chenier dynamics off a drowning coastal plain

    No full text
A chenier is a beach ridge, consisting of sand and/or shells, overlying a muddy substrate. In this paper, we explore the cross-shore dynamics of cheniers in their ‘active’ phase, i.e. the phase between their formation and their landing on the shore and can no longer be reached by daily wave and tidal influences. While cheniers described in literature are known to only migrate onshore until they reach a stable position with their crest level above tidal influences, observations in Demak suggest the existence of an alternative stable state, highly dynamic on the short term, but stable on the longer term. To explore this alternative stable state, we developed an idealised chenier model to investigate cross-shore chenier dynamics under daily wave and tidal influences. The model is able to predict both onshore and offshore migration; onshore migration is mainly driven by wave action, while offshore migration is induced by a tidal phase lag, or the effect of the storm season. For certain combinations of waves, tide (incl. phase lag) and a storm season effect, the model predicts a dynamically stable chenier. In absence of a phase lag and storm season effect, the model yields a ‘classic’ stable chenier that welds onto the shoreline by onshore migration.Environmental Fluid Mechanic

Memahami Asnaf Zakat di Era Sekarang (Analisis Qs. Al-Taubah [9]: 60 Melalui Pendekatan Qira’ah Muntijah Nashr Hamid Abu Zayd: A CRITICAL STUDY OF NĀṢR ḤĀMID ABŪ ZAYD’S QIRĀ’AH MUNTIJAH PERSPECTIVE

    No full text
This paper departs from Q.S. At-Taubah [9]: 60 which requires zakat for a Muslim to be distributed to the recipients of zakat as a way to purify themselves. If we understand the verse textually, there will certainly be no significant problems, because the target of the verse is indeed relevant to the needs of the Prophet’s society 14 centuries ago. However, what if one of the eight groups mentioned in the Qur’an is no longer found today? Departing from this anxiety, the author wants to reinterpret the concept of zakat and the recipients of zakat with the Qirā’ah Muntijah approach of Naṣr Ḥāmid Abū Zayd. This paper is a literature study, whose data source is through the verses of the Qur’an that specifically discuss the concept of zakat. Then the verses are analyzed using Qirā’ah Muntijah which is then described as the result of contextual interpretation of zakat. The result of this paper is that the eight groups of zakat recipients in Q.S. At-Taubah [9]: 60 is a mustaḥiq concept that is by the social context when the verse is revealed. At that time the groups of zakat recipients as mentioned in the verse, still existed. Furthermore, the purpose of the verse is to empower weak communities in terms of financial needs, which was the need of the community at that time. In the present context, the verse can be allocated to other groups such as: the insane, the blind, the homeless, people with disabilities, the Palestinian mujahids, the students, the teachers, the domestic assistants who are abused by their employers, the lowly laborers who are still shackled by their employers, and the refugees of other natural disasters.

School libraries have a vital role in supporting learning activities as part of the educational process. At SMPN 1 Sawoo, the library acts as a reference source for students to strengthen their understanding of the subject matter taught by the teacher. However, the process of borrowing books in this library is still done manually, causing greater use of time and energy. To overcome this, the author developed a structured and web-based library information system application, enabling the book borrowing process to be easier and can be accessed flexibly. The Waterfall Method approach was used in developing this web-based book lending information system, through the stages of needs analysis, system design, implementation, testing and maintenance. This information system was developed using the Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) programming language, with a Web Server using XAMPP. Coding was carried out using Visual Studio Code and design using the Code Igniter Framework, with data stored in the MySQL Database. This application can be accessed via Web Browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge. The research results show that this library information system is suitable for use and functions according to its purpose after passing the Black Box and SUS (System Usability Scale) tests which show a percentage score of 79. From these results, the implementation of the library system is expected to improve library services at SMPN 1 Sawoo
