    No full text
This thesis investigates mythopoesis in the works of the Milanese writer Carlo Emilio Gadda (1893-1973). It aims to contextualize the category of myth within the epistemological construction that underlies Gadda’s oeuvre. The project consists of two sections. The first section (chs. 1-2) brings to light two original hermeneutic horizons of Gadda’s inquiry into myth: here, the philosophical essay Meditazione milanese (1928; 1974) marks the author’s conceptual transition, from the modules of psychologism and physiological Kantianism, to his exposure to 20th century epistemological debate. With regards to this period of transition, we hypothesized that an important and previously unappreciated role was played by the philosopher Antonio Banfi and the intellectuals of the Milanese circle that surrounded him (L. Anceschi; R. De Grada; E. Paci; E. Vittorini; G. Ferrata; A. Vigevani). This hypothesis was supported through the study of documents preserved in numerous archival collections. Following from the first section’s discussion of Gadda’s philosophical turn, the second section of the project (chs. 3-4) analyzes the terms, modalities, and functionalities by which myth penetrates the author’s speculative sphere in two particular works: L’Adalgisa. Disegni milanesi (1944) and Eros e Priapo (1944-45; 1967). This section offers an in-depth critical analysis compared to traditional readings and sources on the two texts. It addresses the question of myth from different disciplinary coordinates: respectively, the socio-psycho-ethno-anthropological in L’Adalgisa, and the political-ideological in Eros e Priapo. In an inextricable interplay between poetics and gnoseology, the theoretical framework that arises from this study demonstrates how myth is a means by which the author attempts to finalize his tormented exploration of the world. With it, he invents and perfects his psychology and elaborates a personal sociology and anthropology, reinvigorating, at the same time, the lines of a peculiar metaphysics

SteadFAST: Case Reports in PA Studies 1 (1)

    No full text
Dr. Eugene A. Stead was a physician and innovator in many areas of health care and healthcare delivery. Dr. Stead is credited as the founder of the PA profession after graduating the first class of PAs in 1967. As more physicians began to specialize than remain in general practice after WW2, Dr. Stead saw the importance of increasing the number of providers for an increasing patient population. Building on the experience and training of Naval Corpsmen (advanced trained medics) who had recently left the service, he designed a program in the early 1960s to advance their medical knowledge toward physician level. Initially dubbed “assistants to physicians”, the nascent program graduated the first three physician assistants in 1967. Since that time, PAs have been on the forefront of medical care provision across nearly every specialty and in many areas of leadership. It is for the vision of Dr. Eugene Stead that we christen our case report journal SteadFAST and dedicate the knowledge from the next generation of Physician Associates.Volume 1 (1): February 19, 2025University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth Physician Assistant ProgramDedication to Dr. Eugene Stead -- Editorial Board (page i) -- Contents (page ii) -- Case Reports (page 1) -- Parvovirus B19 Infection Resulting in Fetal Hydrops / Abby Sherman, PA-C; James Herd, MD; Jamie Park, PA-C; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 2) -- Clostridioides difficile infection in a pediatric patient with short gut syndrome / Carly Rosse, PA-S; Huong Pham, MPAS, PA-C; Lauren Dobbs, MMS, PA-C; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 6) -- The Use of Low-Dose Aspirin to Prevent Preeclampsia in Pregnancy / Grace Buchen, PA-S; James Herd, MD; Amanda Brosnan, PA-C; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 10) -- Liver Injury Induced by Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators Taken for Weight Loss / Tiffany Lin, PA-S; Haley Sutherland, DO; Audrey Lively, PA-C; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 14) -- Aortic Lusoria Complicating Transradial Heart Catheterization / Sarah Khan, PA-S; Giri Munduluru, MD; Jamie Park, PA-C; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 18) -- The Diagnosis and Treatment of New-Onset Schizophrenia / Kazlyn Roberts, PA-S; Olla Elbasheer, MD; Helene Alphonso, MD; Jamie Park, MS, MPAS, PA-C; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 22) -- Managing PTSD Nightmares: Pharmacotherapeutic Considerations and Alternative / Sydney Clayton, PA-S; Audrey Lively, PA-C; Vic Holmes PA-C, EdD (page 26) -- A Rare Surgical Case: Gastrojejunocolic Fistula / Kellen Dunn, PA-S; Cody Starnes, MD; Jamie Park, PA-C; Vic Holmes; PA-C (page 30) -- Ovarian Torsion in a Reproductive Age Female / Abby Creighton, PA-S; Kaitlin Wagner, MD; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 34) -- Gut Dysbiosis: An Atypical Cause of Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis / Emily Guyton, PA-S; Ann Palagi-Pate, APRN, CNM, WHNP; Audrey Lively, PA-C; Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 38) -- The Risk of Tobacco Exposure on the Recurrence of Cervical Dysplasia / Ashley Bates, PA-S; Christopher LaFargue, MD, Vic Holmes, PA-C, EdD (page 42) -- About the PA Program (page 46

Anemia is a medical condition that occurs when the number of red blood cells or hemoglobin levels in the body decreases below normal limits. Adolescent girls are one of the groups with a high level of vulnerability to anemia, where the prevalence of anemia in Indonesia is quite high. Young women are required to take Fe tablets because they experience a menstrual cycle that comes every month. These Fe tablets are very useful in regenerating iron that has been lost due to menstruation and to fulfill Fe needs that have not been met from food. The aim of this study was to provide an overview of the relationship between adherence to consuming Fe tablets and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. In this research the author used the literature review method. The database used in this research uses Google Scholar 2019-2023 with the keywords used anemia, compliance, adolescent girls, fe tablet consumtion. Based on 10 articles regarding the relationship between adherence to consuming Fe tablets and the incidence of anemia, it was found that there was a significant influence between adherence to consuming Fe tablets and the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. The conclusion from this literature review is that there is a significant influence between adherence to consuming Fe tablets on the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls

Anna minun olla sivellin : taidemaalauksen kehollisuus

The main theme in this thesis is to find answers to what bodiliness and tacit knowledge in painting and drawing mean. The subject derives from personal interest to find a new approach to art making and study the subject in more detail. The approach is multidirectional. The starting point is subjective where the learning experiences and diary writings are a guide. The main reference material is based on Ajatteleva käsi by Juhani Pallasmaa and The Natural Way to Draw by Kimon Nicolaides. There is also a variety of examples from other art forms than painting and drawing as well as examples from sports that is essentially physical. There is no direct answer to the main question. The answer is philosophical; it can be phenomenological and existential. Eventually it is reasonable to answer the question in a practical way; how does non-rational thinking and thinking with one’s whole body work in real life? The main theme in the first chapter is artwork and observation that includes the whole body. One has to use all the five senses, to feel what the model feels, and is actually observing the inner self. Art is also a verb; it is movement. The one who sees the final artwork is also a part of the same process. The second part is about training, tradition and performance in the high level. The practice of copying old paintings is a process where the author lives the art history with the whole body: it becomes a part of the author and her experience. The last chapter treats the non-verbal language of art. In effective artwork there is no need for complex theories or narratives. The language of trace, color and line is enough. The final question is where the power and strength come from in art. The most important point is that perfect is not interesting, i.e. one can paint ugly. A good painting is an open question that lives in insecurity and openness. The power comes from the weakness. Keskeisimpinä lähdeaineistoina toimivat Juhani Pallasmaan Ajatteleva käsi (2017) sekä Kimon Nicolaidesin Natural Way to Draw (1941). Taiteen katsoja osallistuu samaan prosessiin: Taideteos tapahtuu uudestaan.
