Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of 8-week open skill agility training on reactive agility performance in female soccer players.
Materials and Methods: Sixteen athletes aged 18 and under (age: 15,26 ± 2,58 years, height: 161,50 ± 5,47 cm, body weight: 51,75 ± 4,92 kg, age at training: 4,13 ± 1,59 years) from an amateur women's soccer team participated voluntarily in the study. A randomized controlled experimental design was applied in the study. The open skill agility test protocol developed by Farrow (2010) was used to measure the reaction speed to visual stimuli in the study. Athletes were classified according to their ages, training history, and open skill agility pre-test total times and divided into two groups as open skill group and control group. Open skill agility training continued 2 days a week for 8 weeks. At the end of the 8-week study period, a post-test was applied to all subjects and the study was terminated.
Results: While a statistically significant difference was found in the sprint time, total agility time and decision-making time scores between the pre-test and post-test measurements of the training group, no statistically significant difference was found in the movement time scores. No statistically significant difference was found in the movement time, sprint time, total agility time and decision-making time scores between the pre-test and post-test measurements of the control group. Although the difference between the pre-test and post-test movement time, sprint time, total agility time and decision-making time scores of the training and control groups was statistically significant, a positive development was seen in the post-test values of the training group.
Conclusion: These findings indicate that visual stimulus-based open skill agility training can be effective in improving performance parameters such as speed and decision making in female football players. The fact that the differences between the groups did not reach statistical levels may be related to factors such as sample size and application duration. Although the differences are not statistically significant, it can be said that they can be meaningful in practice and reflect the positive effects of the training program
It is well-established that post-activation potentiation (PAP) is an effective method for
enhancing performance. However, loading with heavy weights before training or
competition can lead to fatigue and increase the risk of injury in athletes. Therefore, blood
flow restriction (BFR) exercises, which have become widely used in recent years, are
considered a potential alternative to traditional methods. In this context, it is hypothesized
that combining PAP with BFR exercises may offer additional benefits. The aim of this
study is to examine the acute effects of BFR exercises on explosive power performance
in young football players. A total of 24 male football players (age: 18.29±0.69 years,
height: 177.23±6.75 cm, body weight: 68.4±6.69 kg, training experience: 9.29±2.42
years) from the U-19 category voluntarily participated in this study. During the 4-week
study period, the football players were randomly assigned into six groups of four using a
randomized crossover design. Practical blood flow restriction (pBFR) bands, adjusted to
the pressure level described as ‘’heavy pressure’’ according to perceived exertion, were
used before performing the isometric squat exercise. On the first day, the following tests
were performed: the first group performed a sprint test (ST) after the warm-up; the second
group performed an active jump test (AJT) after the warm-up; the third group performed
10 repetitions of the isometric squat exercise with 40% load and pBFR followed by a
sprint test (BFRST); the fourth group performed 10 repetitions of the isometric squat
exercise with 40% load and pBFR followed by an active jump test (BFRAJT); the fifth
group performed 10 repetitions of the isometric squat exercise with 85% of 1RM load
followed by a sprint test (1RMST); and the sixth group performed 10 repetitions of the
isometric squat exercise with 85% of 1RM load followed by an active jump test
(1RMAJT). The differences between the obtained values were analyzed using repeated
measures variance analysis. To determine the source of the differences, Bonferroni post
hoc tests were conducted. When comparing the results of the sprint and active jump tests
after applying different methods on the football players, the findings were as follows: ST
(3.11±0.1 s), AJT (35.6±5.32 cm), BFRST (3.06±0.09 s), BFRAJT (38.42±5.78 cm),
1RMST (3.08±0.96 s), and 1RMAJT (37.84±5.67 cm). Statistical analysis revealed a
significant difference between the sprint values obtained from the BFRST group and the
sprint values obtained from other methods (p0.05). Based on the data obtained from this
study, it is suggested that BFR exercises may be applicable and yield better results,
particularly as an acute effect on speed performance

Analizlerde numerik veriler değerlendirilirken gruplar arası karşılaştırmalarda Man Whitney U testi, grup içi karşılaştırmalarda ise Wilcoxon testleri kullanılmıştır. Antrenman grubundaki deneklerin grup içi açık beceri çabukluk testi hareket zamanı, sprint zamanı, toplam zamanı ve karar verme zamanı ön-test ve son-test değerleri arasında anlamlı gelişim olduğu bulunmuştur (p0,05). Kontrol grubundaki deneklerin grup içi açık beceri çabukluk testi hareket zamanı, sprint zamanı, toplam zamanı ve karar verme zamanı ön-test ve son-test değerleri arasında anlamlı bir gelişim bulunmamıştır (p>0,05). Yapılan analizler sonucunda, deneklerin gruplar arası açık beceri çabukluk testi hareket zamanı, sprint zamanı, toplam çabukluk zamanı, karar verme zamanı zamanları gelişim değerleri karşılaştırıldığında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı tespit edilmiştir (p>0,05). Yapılacak futbol antrenmanlarında dar alan oyun antrenmanlarına yer verilmesinin, sporcunun karar verme performansını geliştireceği düşünülmektedir. The aim of this study is to examine the effect on open skills performance of small sided games in young football players. 19 athletes from Denizlispor U-16 team participated in the research. The players were divided into two groups as 9 players Control Group and 10 players 5v5 Small-Sided Game Group. The football players in the control group were trained for straight running, and the football players in the narrow field game group were trained for 5v5 small-sided games with 30x40 m field size for 8 weeks. The Reactive Agility Test protocol was used in the pre-test and post-test measurements of the open skill agility test of the footballers. In the analysis of the data, mean and standard deviation were given for numerical data, number and percentage values were given for categorical data. Histogram graphics and Skewness tests were used for the distribution of numerical data. While evaluating the numerical data in the analyses, Man Whitney U test was used for intergroup comparisons and Wilcoxon tests were used for in-group comparisons. It was found that there was a significant improvement between the pre-test and post-test values of the open skill agility test movement time, sprint time, total time and decision-making time of the subjects in the training group (p0.05). There was no significant improvement between the in-group open skill agility test movement time, sprint time, total time and decision-making time pre-test and post-test values of the subjects in the control group (p>0.05). As a result of the analysis, it was determined that there was no significant difference when the subjects' developmental values of open skill quickness test movement time, sprint time, total quickness time, decision time were compared (p>0.05). It is thought that the inclusion of small-sided game training in football training will improve the decision-making performance of the athlete
THE EFFECTS OF WHOLE-BODY VIBRATION TRAINING ON SPRINT AND JUMPING PERFORMANCE IN JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS :
The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of a WBV training on sprint and jumping performance in junior volleyball players. Twenty-two young, healthy volunteers participated in this study (age 17.13 ± 0.81 years, body mass 70.84 ±5.94 kg, body height 175.18 ± 5.50 cm and BMI 23.02±0.75). All participants were students in high school. They were divided randomly as control group (CG) and whole-body vibration training group (WBVTG). During the period of the study, all players performed the same voleyball specific training, but the WBVTG had additional WBVT (amplitude: 4 mm, frequency: 40 Hz) three times per week for six successive weeks. They were given 48 hours of rest between each training session. Before starting the WBV training program, experimental group were applied WBV education program during 2 weeks. Countermovement jump (CMJ), 5 m and 10 m sprint tests were applied to evaluate the jump and sprint performances of the athletes at baseline and after 6 weeks. Since parametric conditions were observed, paired sample t test was used in intragroup analysis and independent sample t test was used in intergroup analysis. Additionally, differences were analyzed using a magnitude-based Cohen’s effect size (ES) statistic with modified qualitative descriptors. There were no significant differences between training and control groups in demographic characteristics at baseline measures. After 6 weeks, control group had significant differences between the values of pre-test and post test in vertical jump (t= -3,03, p<0.05). On the contrary, there was no significant difference in the 5 and 10 m sprint values after 6 weeks in the control group. But, training group had significant differences between the values of pre-test and post test in all measurements. It can be concluded that implementation of 6-week WBV training in routine practice in volleybal improves the jumping and sprint performance in training group
The effect of FIFA 11+ training program on selected parameters in athletes: Fifa 11+ training program
There is a training protocol called ’FIFA 11+’ proposed by the International Association of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to football teams. This protocol is defined as a warm-up program used to prevent injuries in athletes. This program includes 3 sections. 1.the section consists of running exercises, 2.section 3 November exercises that improve strength, balance, muscle control and body stabilization.the section consists of advanced running exercises. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the FIFA 11+ training program applied to young football players on the selected parameters. 19 male football players (Age: 13.8 - 0.05 years; Height length: 167.25 - 0.06 cm; Body weight: 57.59 - 12.3 kg) who played sports under license in an amateur football team in the U14 league category voluntarily participated in the study. Athletes 1.height length and body weight measurements, 10-minute warm-up run and 20 m sprint tests were performed on the day, respectively. 2.on the day, 10-minute warm-up run, lie-down and vertical jump tests were performed, respectively. After the applied tests, the athletes were divided into two groups as experiment and control groups as randomization. The control group athletes applied the dynamic warm-up program determined in their routine training programs, and the experimental group athletes applied the FIFA 11+ training program 2 days a week for October weeks in addition to their routine training programs. 6. at the end of the week, the previously applied measurements were performed again in the same way and the study was terminated. In the analysis of the data, Shapiro-Wilk and T-tests were used. According to the research findings; it was determined that the FIFA 11+ training program applied to football players had a statistically significant effect on the jump and flexibility performances of athletes (p<0.05). In addition, it was found that the applied program also had an effect on other performance parameters of athletes, but this was not at a significant level (p>0.05). As a result, it is suggested that the FIFA 11+ training program applied to football players should be included in the training programs in order to contribute to the jump and flexibility performances of athletes
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
