Maxillary lateral incisor agenesis and its relationship to overall tooth size

    No full text
Statement of problem: Agenesis of the maxillary lateral incisor is linked to differences in overall tooth size. Thus, the mesio-distal space required for final esthetic restoration in patients with missing one of both maxillary lateral incisors may be smaller. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to determine if a tooth size discrepancy exists in orthodontic patients with agenesis of the maxillary lateral incisor(s). Material and methods. Forty sets of dental casts from white orthodontic patients (19 male and 21 female) mean age 15.9 years were collected. All casts had agenesis of one or both maxillary lateral incisors. The teeth were measured with a digital caliper at their greatest mesio-distal width and then compared to a control group matched for ethnicity, age and sex. S One-way repeated measures ANOVA (α=.05) was used for statistical analysis. Results. Males in the test group had significantly smaller maxillary posterior teeth when compared to males in the control group, with differences ranging from 0.28-0.78mm. Females showed significantly smaller maxillary anterior teeth, with differences ranging from 0.22-0.42mm. The remaining maxillary lateral incisor was also significantly smaller (1.27mm difference) in the male and female unilateral agenesis test groups indicating higher incidence of ‘peg’ laterals when compared to the control group. Conclusions. Agenesis of one or both maxillary lateral incisors is associated with a tooth size discrepancy. White males experienced smaller than normal posterior maxillary teeth and females showed smaller anterior maxillary teeth. This article is based on the Master’s thesis (J.W.) presented in 2011 in partial fulfilment of requirements for the degree of Master of Science, Marquette University School of Dentistry, 2011.Peer reviewe

This study of the City of San Jose’s Parks and Recreation General Obligation (GO) Bond Measure seeks to identify the politics-, management-, and planning-related lessons learned by the City as it developed its community facilities using the GO bonds proceeds. The study finds that these lessons include: be conservative in what you promise the residents; be prepared for changes in economic environment by identifying supplementary funding sources should the primary source not yield adequate funds; make sure that the jurisdiction is organizationally capable of handling the increased workload; and prepare detailed project plans prior to the bond issuance.Community Infrastructure and Services; Municipal Bonds; Public Finance

16 páginas, 6 figuras, 3 tablas.-- The final publication is available at www.springerlink.comA new algorithm for global optimization of costly nonlinear continuous problems is presented in this paper. The algorithm is based on the scatter search metaheuristic, which has recently proved to be efficient for solving combinatorial and nonlinear optimization problems. A kriging-based prediction method has been coupled to the main optimization routine in order to discard the evaluation of solutions that are not likely to provide high quality function values. This makes the algorithm suitable for the optimization of computationally costly problems, as is illustrated in its application to two benchmark problems and its comparison with other algorithmsThe team at CSIC acknowledges financial support from the Spanish Government (MEC AGL2004-05206-C02-01/ALI) and Xunta de Galicia (PGIDIT05PXIC40201PN). Treball final de Grau en Disseny i Desenvolupament de Videojocs. Codi: VJ1241. Curs acadèmic: 2019/2020This project presents the Final Project of Design and Development of Video Games, made by Pau Borrell Egea. In the mobile games market, there are many games related to Lego, and also, the market includes a category of 3D model creation. In this project, the objective is to design and develop a game for the construction of 3D models using Lego parts. In the design stage, the specifications of a mobile game have been taken into account, such as the size of the screens, the size of the typography, the resolution of the images, etc. In the development stage, the implementation of the game was carried out using Unity3D. Plugins were also used to load images and 3D models built with Lego parts. In addition to the design and development of the game, gamification techniques have been implemented for the game. Finally, an educational game has been achieved where the player can build, visualize and modify the 3D models

Author Co-Citation Analysis (ACA): a powerful tool for representing implicit knowledge of scholar knowledge workers

In the last decade, knowledge has emerged as one of the most important and valuable organizational assets. Gradually this importance caused to emergence of new discipline entitled ―knowledge management‖. However one of the major challenges of knowledge management is conversion implicit or tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. Thus Making knowledge visible so that it can be better accessed, discussed, valued or generally managed is a long-standing objective in knowledge management. Accordingly in this paper author co- citation analysis (ACA) will be proposed as an efficient technique of knowledge visualization in academia (Scholar knowledge workers)

Credit Bureaus in Today’s Credit Markets. ECRI Research Report No. 4, 1 September 2002

[From the Introduction]In all EU countries today, lenders can access information in databases to help them assess the creditworthiness of a credit applicant. The establishments that compile these databases are known as credit bureaus, credit registries or credit reporting agencies. Credit bureaus gather information on the payment history of borrowers and issue credit reports prior to the underwriting of a loan, whether for the purpose of buying a house, a car, opening a credit line or simply subscribing to a mobile telephone service. In the United States, data from credit bureaus on consumer borrowing, payment behaviour and other aspects of household finances have become the cornerstone of underwriting decisions on consumer loans. Credit bureaus in the United States collect and store comprehensive data for over 200 million adult residents. More than 2 million credit reports are sold by credit bureaus every day. It is widely accepted that the development of the credit bureau industry has played an essential role in the expansion of the North American credit market. The type and quantity of data available and the mechanisms by which this information is shared vary greatly across EU countries. Lenders often provide information to credit bureaus voluntarily, although in some cases, the authorities impose this disclosure via public registers. The data collected can vary over time and between countries and usually consist of past instances of default or payments having fallen in arrears (known as ‘negative’ information). The data can also be of a ‘positive’ nature, however, to include a customer’s outstanding liabilities, maturities and other details about his or her credit history
