Umweltrecht als Instrument für einen effektiven Schutz von Feuchtgebieten im Niger-Delta : eine Fallstudie zum Upper Orashi-Forest
No full textWith the increasing consciousness of the value of wetland ecological and environmental functions and its fast rate of decline in the size of this important and rich ecosystem globally, the Niger Delta ecosystem has been reported to be undergoing tremendous change, hence the need for this research, to identify the challenges and proffer solutions. This study focuses on ascertaining if a change has occurred in the Upper Orashi Forest Reserved wetland, to know and evaluate the policies used in managing the wetland in the region and Nigeria. To ascertain the wetland change, land cover change detection was carried out using Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing to produce paradigm or data to detect change occurrence in the wetland area. Supervised classification of land use and land cover change was carried out using LANDSAT data from 2002, 2008, and 2019. Thereafter, the land cover transition was mapped for the period 2002 to 2019 and this was computed for the net land cover change for the period of study. The site was classified into three different classes and each class was analyzed using the land use and land cover change model formula. The result from this part shows that there is a consistent decrease in the wetland area for the period under review and in the other two identified classes, some interchangeable compositions were observed for the period of study. To validate this result, the opinion of experts and the host community is needed. Two sets of questionnaires were designed for experts and local community dwellers to sample their opinion in relation to the wetland and its management. The information collected was analyzed using Microsoft excel and the result shows that changes have occurred in the wetland of Upper Orashi Forest (decrease in size and other challenging issues with respect to policies and regulations). This study has identified critical challenging issues facing wetlands in the region or driving factors of wetland loss in the study area. Thereafter making recommendations that will help address these issues to actualize environmental sustainability and sustainable wetland in the region and Nigeria at large.Angesichts des zunehmenden Bewusstseins für den Wert der ökologischen Funktionen von Feuchtgebieten und des zunehmenden Verlustes dieser wichtigen und wertvollen Ökosysteme auf der ganzen Welt ist Berichten zufolge auch das Ökosystem des Niger-Deltas einem enormen Wandel unterworfen. Diese Untersuchung soll die Herausforderungen ermitteln und Lösungen zum Schutz vorschlagen. Diese Studie konzentriert sich darauf, festzustellen, ob eine Veränderung im Upper Orashi Forest Feuchtgebiet stattgefunden hat, um die Richtlinien zu bewerten, die bei der Verwaltung des Feuchtgebietes in der Region und in Nigeria zum Einsatz kommen. Um die Veränderung des Feuchtgebiets festzustellen, wurde die Veränderung der Bodenbedeckung mit Hilfe von Geographischen Informationssystemen und Fernerkundung ermittelt, um ein Paradigma oder Daten zu erstellen, mit denen die Veränderung des Feuchtgebiets festgestellt werden kann. Die Klassifizierung von Landnutzungs- und Landbedeckungsänderungen wurde mit LANDSAT-Daten aus den Jahren 2002, 2008 und 2019 durchgeführt. Anschließend wurde der Übergang der Bodenbedeckung für den Zeitraum 2002 bis 2019 kartiert und daraus die Nettoveränderung der Bodenbedeckung für den Untersuchungszeitraum berechnet. Der Standort wurde in drei verschiedene Klassen eingeteilt, und jede Klasse wurde anhand der Formel für das Modell der Landnutzungs- und Landbedeckungsveränderung analysiert. Das Ergebnis dieses Teils zeigt, dass die Feuchtgebietsfläche im Untersuchungszeitraum durchgängig abgenommen hat und dass auch in den beiden anderen identifizierten Klassen relevante Veränderungen für den Untersuchungszeitraum beobachtet wurden. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
