Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Development of a catalytic electrode composed of Ni 2 P-MoS 2 /MWCNT for the evolution of hydrogen
En la actualidad con la creciente demanda energética, el petróleo es la causa de contaminación con mayor impacto ambiental en el mundo. Por esta razón, surge la necesidad de aprovechar nuevas fuentes de energía limpias, que reduzcan las emisiones de gases contaminantes garantizando así la sustentabilidad ambiental y energética. Una alternativa prometedora a los combustibles fósiles es el hidrógeno. La reacción de evolución del hidrógeno (REH) por electrólisis del agua representa el mejor método de producción de hidrógeno de alta pureza libre de dióxido de carbono (CO 2), ideal para sistemas de conversión de energía limpia. De acuerdo a recientes investigaciones, el MoS 2 (disulfuro de molibdeno) y el Ni 2 P (fosfuro de níquel) son algunos materiales alternativos al platino (el cual es considerado el mejor catalizador de REH) que han demostrado individualmente una buena actividad catalítica en la REH. Por otro lado, se ha demostrado que el uso de nanotubos de carbono de pared múltiple (MWCNT) como soporte aumenta el área superficial de los electrodos y mejora su estabilidad electroquímica. En este trabajo se realizó la integración de Ni 2 P, MoS 2 y MWCNT empleando dos diferentes rutas con el objetivo de diseñar un catalizador compuesto de estos materiales para usarse en la REH. La síntesis del compuesto Ni 2 P/MoS 2 /MWCNT consistió en usar secuencialmente un método solvotermal para producir capas de MoS 2 sobre los MWCNT y después un método de reacción de descomposición térmica para crecer nanopartículas de Ni 2 P en MoS 2 /MWCNT. Adicionalmente, se hizo una mezcla de MoS 2 /MWCNT (sintetizado por un método solvotermal) con Ni 2 P/MWCNT (sintetizado por un método de reacción de descomposición térmica) para obtener (Ni 2 P, MoS 2) /MWCNT. Las imágenes de SEM Y TEM revelaron que el MoS 2 tiene una morfología similar a capas de hojuelas, y las nanopartículas de Ni 2 P tienen una morfología esférica, ambas exhibieron un crecimiento uniforme sobre los MWCNTs. Los resultados de difracción de rayos X (DRX) demostraron la integración de Ni 2 P, MoS 2 y MWCNT. En Ni 2 P/MoS 2 / MWCNT se confirmó la formación de Ni 2 P en MoS 2 /MWCNT y en (Ni 2 P, MoS 2)/ MWCNT se confirmó la combinación de Ni 2 P y MoS 2, cada uno soportado individualmente en MWCNT. Además, se evaluó la actividad catalítica de los materiales usando técnicas electroquímicas como voltametría lineal, cronoamperometría y espectroscopia de impedancia electroquímica.At present, with the growing energy demand, the consumption of oil is the cause of pollution with great environmental impact in the world. For this reason, a pressing need arises to take advantage of new clean energy sources that reduce emissions of polluting gases, thus ensuring environmental and energy sustainability. A promising alternative to fossil fuels is the energy carrier hydrogen. The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by water electrolysis represents the best method of production of high purity hydrogen free of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), ideal for clean energy conversion systems. According to recent research, MoS 2 (molybdenum disulfide) and Ni 2 P (nickel phosphide) are some alternative materials to platinum (considered the best HER catalyst), which have individually demonstrated good catalytic activity in HER. On the other hand, it has been shown that the use of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as support increases the surface area of the electrodes and improves their electrochemical stability. In this work, the integration of Ni 2 P, MoS 2, and MWCNT were carried out using two different routes to design a catalyst composed of these materials for use in HER. The synthesis of the Ni 2 P/MoS 2 / MWCNT compound consisted in sequentially using a solvothermal method to produce MoS 2 layers over the MWCNT and then a thermal decomposition reaction method to grow Ni 2 P nanoparticles in MoS 2 /MWCNT. Additionally, a mixture of MoS 2 /MWCNT (synthesized by a solvothermal method) with Ni 2 P /MWCNT (synthesized by a thermal decomposition reaction method) was made to obtain (Ni 2 P, MoS 2 ) /MWCNT. The SEM and TEM images revealed that MoS 2 has a sheet-like morphology flake-type, and the Ni 2 P nanoparticles have a spherical-like morphology, both exhibiting a uniform growth on the MWCNTs.The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrated the integration of Ni 2 P, MoS 2 , and MWCNT. In Ni 2 P/MoS 2 /MWCNT the formation of Ni 2 P on MoS 2 /MWCNT was confirmed, and in (Ni2P, MoS 2 )/MWCNT the combination of Ni 2 P and MoS 2 was proved, each individually supported in MWCNT.Furthermore, the catalytic activity of the materials was evaluated using electrochemical techniques such as linear sweep voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
