No full textThe research explores issues and phenomena characterising the
territories of the right orographic bank of the Mincio River,
between Goito and Mantova, with a specific focus on Rodigo and
Rivalta sul Mincio, which, due to their peculiar geographical
condition, represents the fulcrum of a system connecting the river
and this part of the Mantova region.
Peculiar rhythms, definite spatiality and stable features
characterise these places. Here, several issues – related to the
hydraulic system, environmental challenges and economic perspectives
– find a convenient arrangement, almost expressing a sign of care
for the territory rather than negotiating with this last.
The research aims to imagine a different future and a forthcoming
collective dimension for this territory, making it possible
to elaborate “a possible project” for the Mincio Valleys region,
moving from ongoing processes and policies and devising new ones,
fostering all local development strategies toward some relevant
endogenous characters and realistic and sustainable perspectives,
in close coherence with the framework of the UNESCO Recommendation
on the Historic Urban Landscape

No full textToday, spreading a new awareness around the role that water assumes in the territorial and landscape configuration is at least necessary.
The research highlights some issues deriving from the dialogue with three subjects in the Mantova area who daily experience a different relationship with water: the administration of Marmirolo which has to challange itself with the presence of the canal Pozzolo-Maglio, the municipality of Roverbella which is crossed by a dense network of canals and receives just indirectly the influence of the Mincio River, and the Consorzio Territori del Mincio which faces the presence of water with a more systemic viewpoint.
The title expresses the desire to include in the project the metaphor of the plot which, as a report of the facts, is suitable for taking on other shades of meaning. This is how the project involves, on the one hand, the theme of the identity plot, intended as that dense network of elements, more or less tangible, able of connecting places and generations, on the other, the theme of the dynamic plot, interpreted as the twist of different forms of water which over time have contributed to the evolution of this territory both in terms of support and nourishment.
In light of the heterogeneous richness emerged from the analysis of these places, the project aims at the composition of a large network of potentialities that dialogue in synergy with the Mincio route and which constitute a privileged field of exploration for sustainable uses
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

The program of the UNESCO Chair aims to highlight the strategic and multifaceted value of architectural
heritage and encourages its enhancement as a strategy to promote a sustainable evolution of urban
contexts.
Drawing on a complexity of multi-scale problems related to architectural and environmental conservation
in contemporary cities, and to the interaction between conservation and transformation instances, the
specific approach of the UNESCO Chair of Mantova is based on the interconnecting of theories and
practices and on the cooperation between different disciplines
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
