    Durando: ¿novador o renovador?

    No full text

Immunological Features and Clinical Benefits of Conjugate Vaccines against Bacteria

Bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria menin-gitidis, and Haemophilus influenzae are important pathogens that cause invasive and noninvasive diseases with a still high burden in terms of both morbidity and mortality worldwide [1–4]. The cornerstone for the prevention of these pathologies is by vaccination. In the last decades, significant advance-ment in the knowledge concerning both the mechanisms of pathogenicity of these pathogens, at a molecular level, and the features of the immune response to natural infection and vaccines have been achieved in humans, thanks to converging approaches of different disciplines, ranging frompathology to microbiology, immunology, vaccinology, and omics science

The exile of the Piedmont liberal Giacomo Durando in the Iberian Peninsula has already been studied, but the discovery of an unknown manuscript, written by him, in the archives at Lisbon brings new evidence to light. A Fully Depleted CMOS Sensor Prototype for HEP Timing Applications

    No full text
The ARCADIA project at INFN is developing Fully Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (FD-MAPS). FD-MAPSs collect the charge mainly by drift, which allows for a faster collection time, and a better time resolution. In this context, a 2 x 2 mm2 pixel array optimized for a time resolution better than 100 ps has been fabricated. The individual collection diode has a size of 50 x 50 μm^2. Eight diodes are grouped together and read out by a dedicated front-end channel composed of a charge sensitive amplifier and a discriminator with self-compensation of the offset. To maximize the uniformity of the electric field the electronics is located at the matrix periphery. The sensor is implemented in a 110 nm CMOS technology with 3.3 V and 1.2 V transistors, and 6 metal layers. The different terms that contribute to the system time resolution have been estimated with electronics computer-aided design (ECAD) tools, and optimized to target a time resolution below 100 p

Ultra-Low Power Discrete-Time Readout for CMOS Radiation Sensors

    No full text
This paper presents the design of a discrete time front-end electronics for CMOS radiation sensors with a power consumption of 11 nW/pixel. The architecture is inspired by the DRAM sensing techniques and it is suitable for small pixel readout. The design is implemented in a 110 nm CMOS technology and consists of a discrete time binary front-end composed by a source follower input stage, an inverting discriminator with offset compensation and a digital buffer. The work is carried out in the framework of the ARCADIA collaboration, which aims to develop fully-depleted monolithic CMOS sensor with low noise, fast charge collection and low power readout, compatible with standard fabrication processes. The first prototype of the discrete-time front-end is implemented in a 2x2 mm2^2 matrix composed by 4 sectors of 6 columns of 24 50 mumum pitch pixels. Simulations show a power density below 1 mW/cm2^2 for a frame rate of 10 KHz. The circuit performance have been simulated with systematic and random process variation Monte Carlo simulations
