Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textPoverty reduction is a set of economic and humanitarian measures aimed at lifting people out of poverty on a permanent basis. The aim of the research is to describe the main theoretical considerations for poverty reduction. For this purpose, a qualitative approach methodology of documentary and descriptive review was used. The data collection technique was a literature search in ScienceDirect databases from 2013 to 2023, and grounded theory was used to analyse the data. The research findings have shown that there are several factors that depend on the region of each country, but the main factors of poverty reduction in developed countries are through education, because a person with a higher level of education tends to have a better quality of life. Consequently, financial inclusion such as access to micro-credit. On the other hand, industrial development for the employment it generates and external factors, these factors are the entrepreneurs that are installed in the environment of the industries, for which they need support, in these supports enter the factors mentioned above such as education and microcredit.La reducción de la pobreza es un conjunto de medidas económicas y humanitarias destinadas a salir de la pobreza de forma permanente. counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textSales are a fundamental activity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as they involve the commercial exchange of a product or service for economic compensation. This process is based on a prior agreement between the seller and the buyer and is essential for generating income, establishing relationships with customers, and ensuring business sustainability in a competitive market. The research aimed to describe sales strategies for SME entrepreneurs. A qualitative, descriptive literature review methodology was employed. Fifty scientific articles were included in the results, with an inclusion period from 2016 to 2024. The main findings of the review indicate that entrepreneurs should adopt sales strategies such as: knowing the customer, convincing the customer, creating value for the product, forecasting and planning sales, digital marketing, and adaptation and digitalization. Through the analysis of various studies, a comprehensive view is provided on how entrepreneurs can optimize their sales practices to maximize their success.Las ventas son una actividad fundamental para las pequeñas y medianas empresas (pymes), ya que implican el intercambio comercial de un producto o servicio a cambio de una compensación económica. Este proceso se basa en un acuerdo previo entre el vendedor y el comprador, y es esencial para generar ingresos, establecer relaciones con los clientes y asegurar la sostenibilidad del negocio en un mercado competitivo. En la investigación, se tuvo como objetivo describir estrategias de ventas para emprendedores de pymes. Se utilizó una metodología de enfoque cualitativo, descriptivo de revisión de literatura. Se incluyeron 50 artículos científicos para la elaboración de los resultados, el periodo de inclusión fue entre los años 2016 a 2024. Los principales resultados de la revisión arrojan que, los emprendedores deben adoptar estrategias de ventas como; conocer al cliente, convencer al cliente, creación de valor al producto, previsión y planificación de ventas, marketing digital, adaptación y digitalización. No full textRegional development is a process of structural socio-economic and environmental changes, the main objective of which is to improve the well-being of the population of the territory and to reduce social and economic inequality within the framework of the sustainable development approach. The aim of the research is to describe aspects of regional development. For this purpose, a qualitative approach methodology of documentary and descriptive review was used. The data collection technique was a literature search in ScienceDirect databases, and grounded theory was used for data analysis. The main results show that regional development has key aspects, the main ones being foreign direct investment because it provides capital, technology and employment, another is integrated trade logistics, which facilitates imports and exports, support for SMEs with public financing policies and incentive programmes, digitalisation of SMEs, with the adoption of e-commerce in their different processes, and finally, the relationship between universities and companies with the transfer of knowledge and technology. Further research is recommended to study aspects of regional development in border areasEl desarrollo regional es un proceso de cambios socioeconómicos y ambientales estructurales, cuyo objetivo principal es mejorar el bienestar de la población del territorio y reducir la desigualdad social y económica en el marco del enfoque de desarrollo sostenible. El objetivo de la investigación consiste en analizar factores claves para el desarrollo regional. Para lo cual, se utilizó una metodología de enfoque cualitativo de revisión documental y descriptivo. La técnica de recolección de datos fue la búsqueda bibliográfica en bases de datos de ScienceDirect, para el análisis de los datos se utilizó la teoría fundamentada. Los principales resultados arrojan que el desarrollo regional cuenta con aspectos claves, los principales son la inversión extranjera directa porque aporta capital, tecnología y empleo, otro es la logística comercial integrada esto facilita la importación y exportación, apoyo a pymes con políticas públicas de financiamiento y programas de incentivos, digitalización de las pymes, con la adopción del comercio electrónico en sus diferentes procesos, por último, la relación entre universidad y empresas con la transferencia de conocimiento y tecnología. Aspectos para el emprendimiento de las mujeres en las zonas rurales
No full textWomen play a significant role in the rural economy in various capacities, such as farmers, wage workers, and entrepreneurs. They also have a crucial role in caring for and ensuring the well-being of family members, including providing food and caring for children and the elderly. The objective of this research is to describe aspects of entrepreneurship among rural women in Paraguay. For this purpose, a qualitative descriptive approach was used as methodology. The data collection technique involved searching literature databases such as ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. Analytical categories were used in three dimensions: training, access to microcredit, and public policies supporting women entrepreneurs. Grounded theory was employed for data analysis. The literature review has shown that through training, rural women gain an understanding of entrepreneurship, business management, and innovation to promote their growth. Another aspect is access to microcredit, as some studies have demonstrated that microcredit enhances women's purchasing power, boosts their morale and self-confidence to venture into entrepreneurship. Lastly, the importance of public policies supporting rural women emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts among universities, society, ministries, and key social actors. This collective approach is crucial for fostering Sustainable Regional Development.Las mujeres juegan un papel significativo en la economía rural en diversas funciones, como agricultoras, trabajadoras remuneradas y emprendedoras. Además, desempeñan un rol crucial en el cuidado y bienestar de los miembros de la familia, incluyendo la provisión de alimentos y el cuidado de niños y personas mayores. El objetivo de la investigación consiste en describir aspectos para el emprendimiento de las mujeres rurales en Paraguay. Para lo cual, se aplicó una metodología de enfoque cualitativo de nivel descriptivo. La técnica de recolección de datos fue la búsqueda bibliográfica en bases de datos de ScienceDirect, Google Académico, se utilizó categorías de análisis en tres dimensiones que son la capacitación, el acceso a microcréditos y políticas públicas de acompañamiento a las emprendedoras. Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó teoría fundamentada. La revisión de literatura ha arrojado que, a través de la capacitación, las mujeres rurales comprenden la forma de emprender, de manejar un negocio y de innovar para hacer crecer el mismo, otro aspecto es el acceso a microcréditos, algunos estudios han demostrado que los microcréditos elevan la capacidad adquisitiva de las mujeres, alza la moral y confianza en sí misma para emprender. Y, por último, la importancia de la política pública de apoyo a las mujeres rurales, el mejor camino es a través de un trabajo conjunto entre universidad, sociedad, ministerios y actores sociales claves.
