Working title Finding out the employers’ perspectives on the different forms of post-high school education and employability

The Swedish labor market is one of a complex nature with ever-changing preferences. The political discourse of the work strategy has grown stronger, and within this discourse, the concept of employability is central. Due to political initiatives, a new educational institution, the YH academy, has sprung forward. It provides students with short, specialized educations and also claims to make students highly employable. In order to find out if these claims were correct and if they came with a price, the study focused heavily on the reflections of, what we consider to be the actual customers on the labor market, the employers. Through the aid of mainly employers, the study sought to find out if shorter programs meant that the YH graduate had different career possibilities and lower work benefits, compared to a university graduate in the same field. Also, the study dove deeper in to how YH academies operations differed in comparison with universities’ operations, in order to create more employable students. In other words, how did the YH academies business logic differ from the business logic of universities? To approach these problems, qualitative interviews were conducted with six companies employing both YH graduates and university graduates, a program director from a YH academy and a program director from a university. Also, relevant theoretical tools and literature were used in order to better understand the problematic and answer the questions posed. The employers all proved to be very satisfied with the product that the YH academies produced. Their graduates showed qualities such as career rigidness and a rapid learning curve that employers found very valuable. At the same time, most employers emphasized the strength of a good compote of both university graduates and YH graduates. The university graduates’ broader theoretical background and ability to grasp more complex problems, had proven worthy when it comes to innovating systems and qualifying for higher positions. This was appreciated since many companies expressed a desire to recruit internally. So the criteria met by a good compote of both YH graduates and university graduates, is what really constituted true value for employers. The study also concluded that some universities, in the strive toward achieving better employability and by recommendations of trade and industry, have implemented one of the YH academies’ main tools, the work related internship. If more universities would utilize this tool, the competitive edge YH graduates have in their rapid learning curve would severely diminish

Author Institution: Department of Chemistry, University of Arizona; Department of Chemistry, University of WaterlooThe electronic emission spectrum of YH and YD has been investigated in the 690 nm to 3 μm\mu m spectral region using a Fourier transform spectrometer. The YH and YD bands were excited in an yttrium hollow cathode lamp operated with neon gas and a trace of H2H_{2} of D2D_{2} The observed bands have been classified into three different electronic transitions; C1Σ+X1Σ+, d0+(3Σ)X1Σ+C {^{1}\Sigma}^{+}-X {^{1}\Sigma}^{+}, \ d0 {^{+}}({^{3}\Sigma})- X{^{1}\Sigma}^{+} and C3Φa3ΔC^{3} \Phi-a^{3} \Delta. The d0+(3Σ)X1Σ+d0 {^{+}}({^{3}\Sigma})- X{^{1}\Sigma}^{+} transition of YD could not be identified due to its very weak intensity. The rotational analysis of several bands of the C1Σ+X1ΣC {^{1}\Sigma}^{+}-X {^{1}\Sigma}^{-} transition (up to v=3v^{\prime\prime} = 3 for YH and v=2v^{\prime\prime} = 2 for YD) provides improved equilibrium vibrational and rotational constants for the ground state of YH and YD. The excited C3Σ+C {^{3}\Sigma}^{+} state is involved in several perturbations

Watermark Attack Based on Blind Estimation without Priors

    No full text
With the rapid growth of multimedia application, there has been significantly bared a crucial need for effective copyright protection mechanisms. Therefore, digital image, video, audio and text watermarking has recently become a very active research area of signal and information processing, as a solution to this problem. Many important issues have been pointed out, one of them being the robustness to non-intentional and intentional attacks. In this paper, a new estimation based watermark attack method is presented. The proposed attack regards the watermark system as a black box by assuming watermark signal as different kinds of noise, instead of using the prior knowledge of the watermark signal and embedding methods. To estimate the original image data, blind estimation and a MIMO linear channel are introduced. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed watermark attack method show the high efficiency against known academic and commercial methods. The watermark is completely destroyed in all tested images without altering the image quality.전산학

Involvement of adrenoceptors, dopamine receptors and AMPA receptors in antidepressant-like action of 7-O-ethylfangchinoline in mice

    No full text
Aim: 7-O-ethylfangchinoline (YH-200) is a bisbenzylisoquinoline derivative. The aim of this study was to investigate the antidepressant-like action and underlying mechanisms of YH-200 in mice. Methods: Mice were treated with YH-200 (15, 30, and 60 mg/kg, ig) or tetrandrine (30 and 60 mg/kg, ig) before conducting forced swimming test (FST), tail suspension test (TST), or open field test (OFT). Results: YH-200 (60 mg/kg) significantly decreased the immobility time in both FST and TST, and prolonged the latency to immobility in FST. YH-200 (60 mg/kg) was more potent than the natural bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid tetrandrine (60 mg/kg) in FST. Pretreatment with alpha(1)-adrenoceptor antagonist prazosin (1 mg/kg), beta-adrenoceptor antagonist propranolol (2 mg/kg), dopamine D-1/D-5 receptor antagonist SCH23390 (0.05 mg/kg), dopamine D-2/D-3 receptor antagonist haloperidol (0.2 mg/kg) or AMPA receptor antagonist NBQX (10 mg/kg) prevented the antidepressant-like action of YH-200 (60 mg/kg) in FST. In contrast, pretreatment with alpha(2) adrenoceptor antagonist yohimbine (1 mg/kg) augmented the antidepressant-like action of YH-200 (30 mg/kg) in FST. Chronic administration of YH-200 (30 and 60 mg/kg for 14 d) did not produce drug tolerance; instead its antidepressant-like action was strengthened. Chronic administration of YH-200 did not affect the body weight of mice compared to control mice. Conclusion: YH-200 exerts its antidepressant-like action in mice via acting at multi-targets, including alpha(1), alpha(2) and beta-adrenoceptors, D-1/D-5 and D-2 /D-3 receptors, as well as AMPA receptors.National Natural Science Foundation of China [81173031, 81202511, 81302746]SCI(E)PubMed中国科技核心期刊(ISTIC)中国科学引文数据库(CSCD)[email protected]

Inhibition de la pyrolyse du néopentane par le propène

    No full text

La doped SrTiO3 thin films on SrLaAlO4 (001) as transparent conductor

    No full text
Transparent conductors are essential for many optoelectronic applications, and economically viable replacement for the industry standard transparent conductor, indium tin oxide, is in dire need. Electronic structure calculations are performed to confirm that La doping in a band insulator SrTiO3 provides carriers in the conduction band without generating in-gap states and thus La doped SrTiO3 would retain good optical transparency. To realize the computational results, we synthesize La doped SrTiO3 in thin film form and characterize the films. It is demonstrated that 10% La doped SrTiO3 thin films on SrLaAlO4 (001) substrates are indeed transparent conductors with sheet resistance R-S similar to 60 Omega/square and 80% transmission in the visible wavelength range at room temperature.
