No full textWerner Drewes, Avrupa ve Amerikan sanat özelliklerini birleştiren Amerikalı bir baskı ve ağaç oyma sanatçısıdır.
Bir Protestan rahibin oğlu olarak Canig (Brandenburg), Almanya’da doğan Drewes, ilk ve orta öğrenimini Almanya’da tamamlamıştır. 1912-1922 yılları arasında Weimar’daki Bauhaus Enstitüsü'nde Johannes Itten ve Paul Klee ile, 1927-1928 yıllarında ise Dessau'da Wassily Kandinsky ve Lyonel Feininger ile çalışmıştır. 1930 yılında Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ne göç etmiş ve ABD vatandaşlığına geçmiştir.
Werner Drewes, sanat alanında birçok konferans vermiştir. Aynı zamanda resim ve sanat profesörü olarak;
New York’taki Columbia Üniversitesi'nde (1937–1940),
Master Birleşik Sanatlar Enstitüsü'nde (1940),
Chicago Tasarım Enstitüsü'nde (1945),
St. Louis’deki Washington Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Okulu'nda (1946)
dersler vermiştir. Hâlen Reston, Virginia’da yaşamaktadır.
Drewes’in geçmişi oldukça geniş ve çeşitlidir. Amerika’nın en iyi baskı ressamlarından biri olarak tanınan sanatçı, eserlerinde Alman modernizm okulunun bir devamı ile birlikte Amerikan temalarına özgü yaklaşımlar sergilemiştir. Bu nedenle, Amerikan sanatında özel bir yere sahiptir. Çoğu renkli olan ağaç oyma çalışmaları, Amerikan baskı sanatında gerçekten eşsiz örneklerdir. Eserleri, köşeli ve sivri biçimleri, yarı-gerçek manzaraları ve doğal ile kentsel görüntülerin yalın sunumuyla; yetkin ve olgun bir sanatçının elinden çıktığını açıkça göstermektedir.
New York, St. Louis, Washington, Hamburg, Madrid ve Montevideo başta olmak üzere, 45’ten fazla kişisel sergi açmıştır. Eserleri, dünya çapındaki birçok müzenin koleksiyonlarında yer almaktadır. Bu müzeler arasında:

Lien Drewes
No full textLien married Dutch Drewes in Holland they have six children, four daughters and two sons. The family arrived in Darwin in 1959 and of her children started piano lessons. She decided to study musical theory and perception; by 1964 she had completed grades six and seven of the Australian Music Examinations Board. When the children's music teacher said she was leaving she convinced Lien that she could be trained to take her place. Although Lien was nervous to take on a role of teaching, she proved to be an excellent teacher and provided music instruction for many students over the last few decades. Visiting examiners and adjudicators have always highly praised the musical technical proficiency and polished presentation of her students. Lien was a strong supporter of the North Australian Eisteddfod and drama productions. She always welcomed new teachers and given them useful information and assistance in music.Music Educato
