Generation of 100 mu J pulses at 82.8 nm by frequency tripling of sub-picosecond KrF laser radiation
No full textInvestigations of the, efficient generation of powerful coherent radiation at 82.8 nm by frequency tripling of short-pulse KrF laser radiation are presented. Argon gas is selected as nonlinear medium due to the resonantly enhanced 3rd-order susceptibility chi((3)) (- 3omega, omega, omega, omega). Pulse energies of 100 muJ at 82.8 nm have been measured for a pump pulse energy of 14 mJ. An upscaling to more than 500 muJ is expected with available more powerful pump lasers. Features of this XUV source and possible applications are discussed
Spectral phase matching for highly efficient frequency tripling of short-pulse KrF laser radiation in argon
No full textFor the efficient frequency tripling of KrF laser radiation, argon is very well suited as a nonlinear medium since a near-three-photon resonance can be used, which enhances the nonlinear susceptibility. According to theoretical predictions a zero crossing of the dispersive phase mismatch for the frequency-tripling process allows nearly perfect phase matching at high densities for the central KrF laser wavelength at 248.5 nm. Experiments that demonstrate the associated spectral sensitivity of the phase matching were performed in a pulsed argon gas jet for controlled input spectra and by varying the particle density up to 6x10(18) cm(-3) The experiments show good agreement with corresponding theoretical model calculations and explain the recently achieved high conversion efficiencies in frequency tripling of short-pulse KrF laser radiation

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
