MORPHEMS DEVELOPING AT AORIST IN KASHKAY

In the aorist of Kashkay, besides the original morphems, there are morphems developed according to the consonants at the end of the verbs. The common feature of these morphemes is that they are seen in the 1st and 2nd persons and have emerged with consonant analogies. Mentioned morphemes are - lAm, -lAn, -leg, -lAnIz similar to -lAyIz; -rAm, -rAn, -reg, -rAnIz similar to -rAyIz and -dAm, -dAn, -dAK, -dAnIz similar to -dAyIz respectively, according to 1st and 2nd persons. Morphemes with /l/ in Kashkay, occur after verbs with /l/ consonants at the end. Morphems with /r/ are used after verbs ending with /r/ consonant: gellem (< *gelrem < gelerem) 'I come', vurram (< vuraram) 'I hit' etc. Morphems with /d/ which stand out as a characteristic feature of Kashkay are mostly ending with tooth, tooth-palate, tooth-lip consonants such as /d/, /l/, /n/, /s/, /t/, /v/ It is used after verbs. After verbs ending with such consonants (dental consonants), when the aorist suffix -Ar comes, the vocal of the aorist suffix decreases. Then there is a progressive analogy between the tooth consonants at the end of the verb and the consonant /r/ of the aorist suffix. As a result of this analogy, morphemes with /d/ are formed: dusdem (< *dusrem < duserem) 'I fall' etc. In Kashkay, it seems that the past tense used with -dXm, -dXn, -dXK, -dXnXz similar to -dXyXz morphems in 1st and 2nd persons was effective in the stereotyping of these morphems with /d/ consonants

USAGE FEATURES AND MODALITY MEANINGS OF (y)AsI FUTURE TENSE SUFFIX IN QASHQAI

In the field of historical Turkic language, -(y)AsI (< -GA( y)sUG) suffix has become characteristic in Old Oghuz Turkic. In Old Oghuz Turkic, -(y)AsI suffix is often used as a participle suffix. In the texts of this period, -(y)AsI suffix is sometimes used in conjugated verbs. -(y)AsI suffix continues to be used extensively in Qashqai Turkish (South Oghuz), which is a member of Oghuz today. In Qashqai Turkish, -(y)AsI suffix is used in conjugated verbs. -(y)AsI is excluded from stereotypes except with the participle suffix function. The main reason for this is the interaction of Qashqai Turkish with Persian. Participle structures of Turkic are met with subordinate sentences in Persian. As a result of this feature of Persian, participles attached with -(y)AsI have been removed from usage in Qashqai. In Qashqai Turkish, mostly possessive personal suffixes are used after the (y)AsI suffix in finite verbs, in accordance with the historical development. However, in finite verbs, pronoun origin suffixes are also added to -(y)AsI suffix. The second conjugation table of -(y)AsI has emerged from pronoun originated person suffixes by analogy. In Qashqai Turkish, -(y)AsI is also used in the expression of some modality meanings due to its nature as the future tense suffix. In this respect, it is observed that -(y)AsI is often an additional feature that marks modality meanings. The suffixes in which the -(y)AsI is syntactic in the sentences, the syntactic structures in which it takes place and the meanings it encodes confirm this fact. On the other hand, in Qashqai Turkish, -(y)AsI suffix is also used in the aorist function, in other words, to convey the events that do not contain focal and always occur

PRONOUNS OF OZ AND BILE IN SOUTH AZERBAIJANI

The expression of reflexivity in the Turkic language is usually reported via reflexive pronouns or suffixes added to verbs such as -(X)n similar to -(X)l. In the historical periods of the Turkic language, words of oz and kentu (>kendu>kendi) is mainly used as reflexive pronouns. These words co-existed together in the Old Oghuz Turkic with similar functions. Later, in the dialects developed from the Old Oghuz Turkic, there was a separation on the boundaries of the self-pronouns. The pronoun of oz was used in Azerbaijani field; and the pronoun of kendi (self) was used in Turkey (Ottoman) field. In the South Azerbaijani, the word of oz is used as a function of reflexive pronoun. In addition to this, oz has reinforcement, personal pronoun and adjective functions. In some dialects of South Azerbaijani, words of bile similar to bele similar to bele are also used in the feature of pronoun. Bile in the category of pronoun fulfills only the function of a personal pronoun. Bile can only be used as a personal pronoun function with possessive suffixes and some case suffixes or with inflectional suffixes. Bile does not have the functions of reflexivity, reinforcement and adjective

Evidentiality is a grammar category reporting which sources the factual information is obtained from. Evidentiality in Turkic appears as indirectivity referring to indirect information. The talker comes into play after the event, not during the event. Information is obtained from the opportunities which are presented by the environment arisen after the event. Evidentiality in Bocnurd dialect is marked by the structures of -(I)ddI(r), -dI, -udi suffixes attached to verbs and IdI similar to -(y)IdI similar to -(y)dI, imis similar to -(y)imis suffixes attached to nouns. Among them, the structures of -(I)ddI(r) and IdI similar to -(y)IdI similar to -(y)dI are characteristic for evidentiality expression. udi suffix is used for stating evidentiality in the past tense. The type and number of evidentiality markers in the system has been formed as a result of historical developments and language relationships. Accordingly, the evidentiality table of Bocnurd dialect has been differentiated to some extent according to other members of Oghuz group

Professional learning as a predictor for instructional quality: a secondary analysis of TALIS

No full text
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of teachers' professional learning opportunities on instructional quality, which represents a combined approach of behaviorist, cognitivist, and constructivist principles in teaching. We incorporated professional learning communities (PLCs), professional development (PD) days, as well as 3 PD types (traditional, reform-based, and informal) to provide a comprehensive account of teachers' professional learning opportunities. Using the extant large-scale data, the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), from 3,213 middle-school teachers in Turkey, we found that PLCs and reform-based PD activities produced statistically significant effects on instructional quality, ranging from high to moderate effects, all other PD variables held constant. Discussion on the results was centered on the schools for being a venue for professional learning and the potential of collaborative structures to promote teachers' development

New formulae for Zagreb indices

International Conference on Numerical Analysis and Applied Mathematics (ICNAAM) -- SEP 19-25, 2016 -- Rhodes, GREECEIn this paper, we study with some graph descriptors also called topological indices. These descriptors are useful in determination of some properties of chemical structures and preferred to some earlier descriptors as they are more practical. Especially the first and second Zagreb indices together with the first and second multiplicative Zagreb indices are considered and they are calculated in terms of the smallest and largest vertex degrees and vertex number for some well-known classes of graphs.Uludag UniversityUludag University [F-2015/17, F-2015/23]; Selcuk UniversitySelcuk UniversityThe first author was supported by the Research Fund of Uludag University project no: F-2015/17, F-2015/23.
