Stages in the Development of Consciousness: What to Look Out For?

    No full text
The universe has one task, namely to evolve. The same applies to all its inhabitants. Standstill is not tolerated. Insofar as it occurs, the triggers are eliminated. What distinguishes human beings is their consciousness, which has a certain degree in every case. This should therefore also show an evolution. The author gives criteria for this and proposes a step-by-step plan for development. The six stages are: Security, Variety, Meaningfulness, Connections, Growth, Unfolding. Each person can then assess themselves and follow the path to a more developed consciousness

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Reduction in Fatigue Symptoms Following the Administration of Nutritional Supplements in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

    No full text
Despite recent advances in immune-modulatory drugs, pharmacological therapies have been proven ineffective in severe presentations of multiple sclerosis (MS), including secondary progressive MS. At present, therapeutic interventions’ performance is primarily focused on ameliorating symptoms to improve the patient’s quality of life (QOL). Among complementary treatments, nutrition has been considered a decisive factor to control symptoms and enhance the wellness of MS patients. Although no special diets are associated with MS, the impact of diet and dietary supplements on the course of progressive forms of the disease has been studied during the last few years. Fatigue is among the most common and disabling symptoms reported by MS patients. Fatigue has been defined in the Multiple Sclerosis Council for Clinical Practice Guidelines (MSCCPG, 1998) as a “subjective lack of physical and/or mental energy that the individual perceives as an interference with habitual and desired activities”. This study aimed to compare the psychometric functioning of the “Fatigue Severity Scale” (FSS) and the “Modified Fatigue Impact Scale” (MFIS) in our sample of people with MS. Specifically, during chronic treatment, the change in these two parameters with two vitamin-rich dietary supplements (Citozym® and Ergozym®) was evaluated. The impact of these nutritional supplements revealed differences in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory parameters among the volunteers in the treatment group, with a subsequent improvement in fatigue. In conclusion, the results obtained have confirmed the effectiveness of complementary nutritional therapies, evaluated essentially based on hematological biomarkers, through which it is possible to act on disability to improve the QOL of MS patients

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Concerning Alzheimer's: Potentially Promising Natural Remedies for Treating this Disease

    No full text
Within the various attempts to treat Alzheimer's disease, the focus is mainly on the pathological proteins Beta-Amyloid and Tau Protein. The successes to date have been insufficient. The question arises as to whether there could be underlying causes of these pathogenic processes that can be treated with natural or endogenous substances. Potential causes and natural remedies are listed. They enable a broader, promising and low-side-effect approach to the topic

Periodontitis is a Risk Factor for Cardiovascular Diseases and Cancer. Bicarbonate and Chlorine Dioxide are Promising Treatments

    No full text
Holistic dentistry knows that there is a close relationship between abnormal conditions in the mouth and diseases in the rest of the body. This can be via energetic relationships, e.g. the meridians, but also via direct toxic effects. Periodontitis is considered a disease par excellence which is associated with a clearly increased risk of other serious diseases. This has often been proven, but is rarely taken into account. It is shown that there are two simple treatment methods for "everyone", namely the use of bicarbonate and chlorine dioxide in the oral cavity. These can be used to neutralize acids and eliminate pathogenic bacteria in the oral cavity.  This is a prophylactic measure against serious illnesses

Risk Factors For Hormone-Dependent Tumors: Breast And Prostate Cancer

    Get PDF
It is a fact that gender- and hormone-dependent cancers are on the rise. This is no coincidence, but is due to a number of risk factors. These include: relative predominance of estrogens, xeno-estrogens especially in drinking water, intoxication by hydrocarbons and metals, radiation exposure, consequences of mRNA vaccinations, inadequate laboratory diagnostics with excessive normal ranges. Normal hormone levels in the blood should be aimed for individually; biochemical castration is an inadequate alternative. In order to avoid the negative developments, there is a selection of natural or nature-identical remedies (e.g. prohormones), which are listed below

What can the Central European Cultural Area Give Mankind?

    No full text
All cultures of peoples have contributed to the cultural history of mankind, more or less. We are currently experiencing a changing world in which many valuable things seem to be getting lost. It therefore makes sense to reflect on the important positive contributions of different cultural areas. This is about Central Europe, i.e. German-speaking countries. A large number of exponents are presented with their contributions to music, philosophy, literature, enlightenment and spirituality. It is noticeable that the period between the Middle Ages and modern times stands out, characterized by terms such as classicism, romanticism, idealism and humanism. The permeation of nature by the divine spirit is particularly striking, as is the love of nature. This stands in contrast to the materialism that currently prevails. A return to the values of this important period in Central Europe seems valuable
