A Sule’s Method initiated genetic algorithm for solving QAP formulation in facility layout design: A real world application
No full textThis paper considers the Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP) as one of the most important issues in optimization. This NP-hard problem has been largely studied in the scientific literature, and exact and approximate (heuristic and meta-heuristic) approaches have been used mainly to optimize one or more objectives. However, most of these studies do not consider or are not tested in real applications. Hence, in this work, we propose the use of Sule’s Method and genetic algorithms, for a QAP (stated as a facility Layout Problem) in a real industry application in Colombia so that the total cost to move the required material between the facilities is minimized. As far as we know, this is the first work in which Sule’s Method and genetic algorithms are used simultaneously for this combinatorial optimization problem. Multicriteria strategic approach for the selection of concrete suppliers in a construction company in Colombia
No full textWithin companies of the construction sector, the evaluation and selection of concrete suppliers, is considered a fundamental topic for the adequate construction of buildings, due to the impact it has, not only in the stability of the building but also in the productivity and the profitability. For an adequate selection, decision-makers must consider a series of criteria of different kind. However, as in different fields, due to the numerous criteria and alternatives that should be considered in the construction industry, the choice of an appropriate multicriteria decision-making approach has become a critical step in the selection of suppliers. Therefore, the objective of this research is to define the most adequate supplier of suitable concrete through the integration of powerful multicriteria decision-making methods. For this purpose, a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (FAHP) is initially applied to define initial factor weights under uncertainty, followed, using the decision-making test and the evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) to evaluate the interrelationships between elements of the hierarchy. Solving flexible job-shop scheduling problem with transfer batches, setup times and multiple resources in apparel industry
No full textApparel industry is characterized by the presence of flexible job-shop systems that have been structured to manufacture a wide range of customized products. However, Flexible Job-shop Scheduling is really chal-lenging and even more complex when setup times, transfer batches and multiple resources are added. In this paper, we present an application of dispatching algorithm for the Flexible Job-shop Scheduling Problem (FJSP) presented in this industry. Days of delay, throughput, earlier date and monthly demand are used as rules of operation selection. A case study in apparel industry is shown to prove the validity of the proposed framework. Results evidence that this approach outperforms the company solution and other algorithms (PGDHS and HHS/LNS) upon reducing average tardiness by 61.1%, 2.63% and 1.77% respectively. The inclusion of throughput in the model resulted in low tardiness for orders with high speed to make money. Applying genetic algorithm for hybrid job shop scheduling in a cosmetic industry
No full textThis work considers the problem of scheduling a given set of jobs in a Flexible Job Shop in a cosmetic industry, located in Colombia, taking into account the natural complexity of the process and a lot of amount of variables involved, this problem is considered as NP-hard in the strong sense. Therefore, it is possible to find and optimal solution in a reasonable computational time for only small instances, which in general, does not reflect the industrial reality. For that reason, it is proposed the use of metaheuristics as an alternative approach in order to determine, with a low computational effort, the best assignment of jobs in order to minimize the number of tardy jobs. This optimization objective will allow to company to improve their customer service. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed. Computational experiments are carried out comparing the proposed approach versus instances of literature by Chiang and Fu. No full textEl autor muestra en una primera reflexión la coyuntura histórica que se presenta en la crisis de los procesos y estructuras sociales en Venezuela. Esta crisis presenta procesos derivados simultáneamente de lo importante que significa que se ha convertido en un país con gran riqueza petrolera lo que ha provocado la modernización y urbanización de las ciudades, ayudado por la tecnología y la ciencia de avanzada. Las principales manifestaciones de esta crisis son la falta de una clase política, la falta de una nueva generación de líderes y la falta de institucionalidad que ha dejado a la sociedad sin una definición clara para ayudar al desarrollo. Por estas cosas, los vicios del venezolano son, p. falta de responsabilidad social, cobardía civil e indiferencia hacia la sociedad.The author shows in a first reflection the historical conjunction presented in the crisis of social processes and structures in Venezuela. This crisis presents processes simultaneously derived from the important which means that it has become a country with great petroleum riche which have provoked the modernization and urbanization in cities, aided by advanced technology and science. The main manifestations of this crisis are the lack of a political class, the lack of a new generation of leaders and the lack of institutionalism which has left society without a clear definition to aid development. This research is a literature research entirely obtained from written sources. This research focused on the lyrics of Banda Neira's album Part Time album that is "On Home", "Tomorrow Pasti Jumpa", "The Broken Growing, The Lost Change" and "Rain in the Dream". The aspect that the author carefully is the lyrics of songs in the form of educational messages and meaning that will be submitted to the reader. The theory that will be used is hermeneuitik Wilhelm Dilthey to know the content of meaning in the lyrics of the song. The research method used is data collection techniques, data analysis techniques, and presentation techniques of analysis results. The results of this study include the concept of triangle, Erlebnis (live experience), Ausdruck (phrase), and Verstehen (understanding) in Banda Neira song lyrics and the content of educational value in the lyrics of the song.
