    Teilhabe, Bedarfe und Bedürfnisse. Untersuchung eines Spannungsfeldes

    Bei der Feststellung von Teilhabeleistungsansprüchen sind die Rehabilitationsträger nicht erst seit Inkrafttreten der UN-BRK gefordert, an der individuellen Lebenswelt der Antragstellenden anzusetzen, um aus den Erkenntnissen über dessen/deren Bedürfnisse und Anforderungen in einem anschließenden Schritt (erfassbare) Bedarfe abzuleiten. Die verschiedenen Feststellungsinstrumente setzen also die Bereitschaft aller Beteiligten voraus, sich den lebensweltlichen Situationen der potentiellen Leistungsberechtigten anzunähern (vgl. Engel & Beck, 2018). Bei einer großen Anzahl von Leistungsberechtigten wird jedoch genau dieser Prozess des Verstehens und Verständigens als herausfordernd empfunden, nicht nur wenn geäußerte Bedürfnisse unverhältnismäßig oder aufgrund ungewohnter bzw. unbekannter Ausdrucksformen nicht nachvollziehbar erscheinen, sondern auch wenn die Antragstellenden selbst keine Auskunft über ihre Bedürfnisse in diesem Rahmen geben können oder wollen. Mit seinem Erkenntnisinteresse an der Lebenswelt und den Teilhabemöglichkeiten von Menschen mit schwerer geistiger Behinderung betritt der geplante Beitrag ein Forschungsfeld, dessen Bearbeitung zunächst randständige jedoch zunehmend auch breitere Aufmerksamkeit durch die Teilhabeforschung erfährt (vgl. exemplarisch: Seifert, 1997; Kersting et al., 2019). Der Beitrag möchte diesen Diskurs beleben, indem er das konzeptionelle Spannungsfeld zwischen den Begriffen Teilhabe, Bedarf und Bedürfnis ausleuchtet und der Frage nachgegangen wird, inwiefern die normativen Grundannahmen relevanter Bezugstheorien und -konzepte (u.a. ICF und Maslow) Gefahr laufen, lebensweltliche Bedürfnislagen aus dem Blick zu verlieren oder diese gar zu überlagern. Schließlich wird der Bedürfnisbegriff theoretisch geschärft und es wird resümierend dafür plädiert, diesen (und damit einhergehend: subjektive Perspektiven) stärker in den Vordergrund konzeptioneller Überlegungen zum Teilhabebegriff zu rücken

    Exploring Vulnerabilities in the Pandemic. Ethical Concerns and Methodological Consequences

    Background: Persons with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities are commonly considered particularly vulnerable. While health problems and lack of opportunities to participate have been a reality for them long before the outbreak of the global pandemic, the current crisis most likely leads to a deterioration of their situation. However, the pandemic is also said to have the potential to make their needs and demands more visible. In this presentation, we want to reconsider this assumption and thus aim at exploring their complex vulnerabilities in this special situation. Methods: While participatory research approaches would be in order to investigate vulnerabilities, they do not come into question – ironically, because close contact between researchers and study participants enhances the same vulnerabilities this study wants to explore. The presentation reflects this paradox and in addition, it provides first insights from a systematic literature review on this phenomenon. Results: Research with (and for) persons with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities has always had to carefully consider their vulnerabilities. The major particularity in the current situation is that their vulnerabilities are now medically underpinned. Conclusions: In situations such as the current global pandemic new methodological approaches are needed in order to involve the perspective of persons with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
