Agia marina and Peristereònas: two new epipalaeolithic sites on the Island of Lemnos (Greece)
The surveys carried out along the coasts of the island of Lemnos (Greece) have led to the discovery of new Late Epipalaeolithic sites at Agia Marina and Peristereonas. Peristereonas yielded a knapped stone assemblage that is strictly comparable with that from Ouriakos, a site located along the south-eastern coast of the same island, while the artefacts from Agia Marina are more problematic to interpret because they are probably to be attributed to a slightly different period. However, the most characteristic artefacts recovered from the sites are represented by microlithic geometrics obtained by abrupt, bipolar, or direct retouch, end scrapers, and different types of exhausted cores and technical pieces, which help us reconstruct the operational sequence employed for the manufacture of the armatures. The aim of the paper is to contribute to the interpretation of the characteristics of the Late Epipalaeolithic assemblages discovered on the island and to frame them into the general picture of the end of the Pleistocene in this part of the Aegean. The artefacts from the sites show unique characteristics, without parallels to the knapped stone assemblages of the same period so far recovered along the coasts of the Aegean Sea, the eastern Mediterranean, the Levant, and the Black Sea.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Τhe Late Palaeolithic campsite of Ouriakos located on the south-east coast of Lemnos was found in 2006 on a sand-dune during the construction of a carpark close to the beach. Surface collections and excavations during the following years have revealed the rich remains of a hunting camp which is radiocarbon dated to the middle of the 11th mill BC. Lithic assemblages are characterized by a large number of cores, crested blades, back bladelets and end scrapers. However, the most typical implements are microlithic lunates using bipolar retouch without micro-burin technology which can be compared with the material of Öküzini cave in southwest Anatolia. Ouriakos provides strong indications for a northwest spread through Anatolia of the Levantine Late Epipalaeolithic cultural tradition for which very little in known in the Aegean area and the Balkans

Recasting competitiveness: Attractive societies and the surprising disappearance of tradeoffs
Yannis Ritsos (1909-1990) is one of the most influential poets of the socalled 1930 generation of Greek poets (analogous to the 1927 one in Spain) who introduced surrealism in Greek poetry, and for some, such as Ritsos, a strong political engagement reflected in their poetry. His most read/translated work is imbued by a politically engaged, stark and epic tone. The poem translated/presented herewith is of a markedly different, lyrical character, and is less well-known, despite its arresting beauty and artistic elements
[Algorithm]: the architect and computer cooperative process
As society understands that the world is structured, fundamentally, on complex phenomena, the architects due to implement more effectively in design and fabrication of systems, models of complexity found in nature and mathematics. The current research work studies the cooperative relation between the architect and the digital media, the computer, through an intelligent mechanism, a mutual symbolic language, comprehensible by both sides; the algorithm. The research work aims to present that digital technology needs a strongly active role in the designing procedure and to approach the transition mechanism from space representation to parametric design of the architecture object, with the assistance of the “algorithmic thought”. Final purpose is the determination of the significance of the deep cooperation between the above two mentioned sides for Architecture
