An equivalent definition of the vector-valued McShane integral by means of partitions of unity

An integral for vector-valued functions on a σ-finite outer regular quasi-radon measure space is defined by means of partitions of unity and it is shown that it is equivalent to the McShane integral. The multipliers for both the McShane and Pettis integrals are characterize

Decompositions of Weakly Compact Valued Integrable Multifunctions

We give a short overview on the decomposition property for integrable multifunctions, i.e., when an "integrable in a certain sense" multifunction can be represented as a sum of one of its integrable selections and a multifunction integrable in a narrower sense. The decomposition theorems are important tools of the theory of multivalued integration since they allow us to see an integrable multifunction as a translation of a multifunction with better properties. Consequently, they provide better characterization of integrable multifunctions under consideration. There is a large literature on it starting from the seminal paper of the authors in 2006, where the property was proved for Henstock integrable multifunctions taking compact convex values in a separable Banach space X. In this paper, we summarize the earlier results, we prove further results and present tables which show the state of art in this topi

Convenient use of carbetocin during 70 elective cae- sarean deliveries [Praticità d'uso della carbetocina durante 70 tagli cesarei elettivi]

Objective. To analyze the efficacy of a potent analogue of oxytocin during elective caesarean delivery. Study design. This clinical-pharmacologic case-control study was conducted prospectively in 70 pregnant women scheduled for c-section, 60 patients with a singleton pregnancy and ten with a twin pregnancy. We compared our standard uterotonic protocol (oxytocin plus ergometrine) versus a single intravenous bolus injection of 100 μg of carbetocin, administered immediately after foetal delivery in controlling perioperative blood loss. Results. The patients (30 with 1-2 previous CS, 10 with twin pregnancy and 30 with other indications for elective CS) were similar about their epidemiologic characteristics. Mean blood loss with carbetocin was 523 mL compared to 483 mL with oxytocin plus ergometrine (n.s.). The economic costs were higher in cases compared to controls (nearly 30 versus 8,5-11,5 euros). Conclusions. Carbetocin is a valid alternative to traditional uterotonic treatment with similar efficacy but easier to handle. In terms of handly and nursing the ratio cost/benefit is undoubtedly in favour of carbetoci

Some new results on integration for multifunction

It has been proven in Di Piazza and Musiał (Set Valued Anal 13:167–179, 2005, Vector measures, integration and related topics, Birkhauser Verlag, Basel, vol 201, pp 171–182, 2010) that each Henstock–Kurzweil–Pettis integrable multifunction with weakly compact values can be represented as a sum of one of its selections and a Pettis integrable multifunction. We prove here that if the initial multifunction is also Bochner measurable and has absolutely continuous variational measure of its integral, then it is a sum of a strongly measurable selection and of a variationally Henstock integrable multifunction that is also Birkhoff integrable (Theorem 3.4). Moreover, in case of strongly measurable (multi)functions, a characterization of the Birkhoff integrability is given using a kind of Birkhoff strong property

    Convergence for varying measures

Some limit theorems of the type ∫Ωfndmn→∫Ωfdm are presented for scalar, (vector), (multi)-valued sequences of mn-integrable functions fn. The convergences obtained, in the vector and multivalued settings, are in the weak or in the strong sense

A new result on impulsive differential equations involving non-absolutely convergent integrals.

In this paper we obtain, as an application of a Darbo-type Theorem, global solutions for differential equations with impulse effects, under the assumption that the function on the right hand side is integrable in the Henstock sense. We thus generalize several previously given results in literature, for ordinary or impulsive equations

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
