The strengthening technique to retrofit a reinforced concrete structure is an effective strategy to enhance the local and global structure capacity. It could be the structure's strength, stiffness, and failure resistance. The retrofit strategy is selected in the wrapped column method using FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer). This study analyzed one column element using the static nonlinear procedure to determine the member of the structure toward seismic forces. The rectangular column was analyzed using Adaptive Pushover Analysis. This procedure operates the not constant lateral load, then attaining more realistic results by displacement-based inelastic element type. Three models were analyzed using Seismostruct with the non-retrofit column without FRP and two models with retrofitted FRP by carbon or CRFP and glass or GFRP. Those two materials have advantages under different conditions, so that this enhancement can install under different risks and circumstances. The column capacity increase wrapping CFRP reached more than 10 % compared with the non-retrofit column. Wrapping GFRP represents that column capacity failure resistance is more significant than CFRP in internal and aggressive environment types

A number of studies and concrete trials have been undertaken in an effort to improve the quality of concrete and address common issues in the construction industry, such as project deadlines. Efforts that have been made to improve the quality of concrete include modifying the strength of high concrete at 7 days of age using chemical admixtures. This research aims to determine the effect of the MR 73 admixture on the flexural strength of concrete at 7 and 28 days of age. The research method used is quantitative experimentation. The research results show that concrete with an admixture of MR 73 at a dosage of 0.4% at 7 days of age has an average flexural strength of 43.5042 kg/cm ², while normal concrete at the same age has a flexural strength of 35.34 kg/cm ². At 28 days of age, concrete with an admixture of MR 73 at a dosage of 0.4% reaches an average flexural strength of 49.97 kg/cm ², compared to normal concrete which reaches 45.54 kg/cm ². The MR 73 admixture has been proven to increase the flexural strength of concrete by 23% at 7 days and by 10% at 28 days compared to normal concrete

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Addition of Cold Milling Waste to Increasing Compressive Strength and Water Absorption in Batako

The development of construction in Indonesia drives the need for more efficient and environmentally friendly building materials. One of the proposed innovations is the utilization of cold milling asphalt waste as a mixture of fine aggregate in making bricks. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the addition of asphalt waste on the compressive strength and water absorption of bricks. The problems raised in this study include how variations in the addition of asphalt waste to bricks affect their mechanical properties. The study was conducted experimentally by making 12 brick samples measuring 30 x 15 x 10 cm using variations in asphalt waste mixtures of 0%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. Testing included compressive strength and water absorption tests at the ages of 7 and 28 days. The results showed that the addition of asphalt waste affected the characteristics of bricks. In a mixture of 30%, bricks showed the highest compressive strength value of 7.9 MPa after 28 days, while water absorption increased with increasing percentage of asphalt waste. These results indicate that asphalt waste can be used as a partial substitute for sand in making bricks without significantly reducing their structural strength. The novelty of this research lies in the use of cold milling asphalt waste which has not been widely applied to brick materials. This study concludes that cold milling asphalt waste can be used as a mixture in brick production to reduce construction waste while supporting the concept of sustainable development. This innovation provides a solution for construction entrepreneurs in creating more economical and environmentally friendly products

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
