Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Solution to Overcome the Bankruptcy Potential of Islamic Rural Bank in Indonesia
This paper investigates the direct and indirect effect of macro and microeconomics variables toward financial distress by using efficiency variable as mediator. This research used time series and monthly-published report data of Islamic Banking Statistics and Macroeconomics data. The Springate Model is used to measure financial distress through s-score, while the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach is used to measure Islamic rural bank’s efficiency. The finding implies that the efficiency of Islamic rural bank in Indonesia is mainly caused by microeconomics variables where CAR and NPF directly have significant and negative effect on efficiency, while ROA and FDR directly have significant and positive effect on efficiency. The financial distress of Islamic rural bank in Indonesia is mainly caused by micro and macroeconomics variables where CAR and SIZE directly have significant and positive effect on financial distress score, while NPF and Exchange rate directly have significant and negative effect on efficiency. Efficiency is strongly having a role in mediating the effect of microeconomics variables toward financial distress score of Islamic rural ban
Efficiency Determinant Analysis in Islamic Bank in Indonesia
This study is aimed to discover efficiency determinant factors of Islamic banks in Indonesia to maintain financial system stability. Financial data of 11 Islamic Banks in Indonesia was obtained from 2010-2019. Purposive sampling method is employed to determine the obtained-sample with the availability of financial statements as criteria. There are two analysis data methods, firstly, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is employed to calculate the efficiency score and analyze the efficiency condition of Islamic banks, and secondly multiple regression analysis which is employed to identify the determinant factors of efficiency. Based on the research model used, this study found that only the CAR and size variables were able to significantly increase the efficiency of Islamic banks. Likewise, macroeconomic variables have not been able to have any impact on the level of efficiency. Policy recommendations are also provided in the end of the discussion chapter
Analisis Respon Kredit Dan Pembiayaan Industri Perbankan Di Indonesia
This study aims to measure the productive credit performance of conventional banks and profit-sharing financing for Islamic banks and analyze their responses to the shock of macroeconomic variables. In this study, the analysis method used is the Vector Auto-Regressive (VAR) / Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The data observed in this study are monthly data from the period 2015 to 2019. The results showed that NPL (Non Performing Loan) was responding negatively to the shock of the productive credit, meanwhile NPF (Non Performing Financing) was responding positively to the shock of the profit-sharing financing. NPL have the most dominant contribution to the productive credit of conventional bank. Meanwhile, world oil prices are projected as the highest contribution to the profit-sharing financing for Islamic banks. Conventional bank productive credit affects inflation. The world crude oil price (OIP) affects the problematic financing of Islamic banks. The price of crude oil affects the exchange rate, and the exchange rate affects inflation
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Developing Halal Travel and Halal Tourism to Promote Economic Growth: A Confirmatory Analysis
The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors of various backgrounds in the literature having to do with halal purchase intention of Muslim travellers on halal travel and tourism sector. It also aims to investigate which antecedents, among all, that have the dominant determinants toward the development of halal travel and tourism purchaseintention. A total of 255 respondents originating from several major cities of West Java were involved in random sampling technique to measure their personal perception on the determinant factors of halal purchase intention. Data were collected through structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. The questionnaire has been divided into two main parts, the first part identifies the respondent identity, while the second part provide 6 main sub-part statements on halal awareness, personal societal perception, religious belief, halal marketing, halal travel & tourism, and infrastructure. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) will be used to acquire the most critical to the least critical indicators in explaining purchase intention on halal travel and tourism industry sector. The paper concludes that most customers rely on halal marketing, making it the dominant determinant factor. Meanwhile, the second dominant determinant is halal travel and tourism. Then, the third determinant is halal awareness. Religious beliefs and personal societal perceptions are the last two priorities. This paper offers a detailed insight into various behaviors of customer’s purchase intention on halal travel and tourism sector as well as delivers a new model of purchase intention through detailed latent-variables. Finally, the relevant stakeholders, in particular government, should enhance the halal marketing on travel and tourism through various programs and activities, such as massive promotion, socialization, and literacy
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
