Africa is ready for the High-level Political Forum for Sustainable Development (HLPF) that takes place at the United Nations headquarters next month, says Fatima Denton, Director of Special Initiatives Division at the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). The regional forum is an inter-governmental and multi-stakeholder platform to review progress, share experiences and lessons learned and build a consensus to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Africa’s Agenda 2063. The Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development recommended the full and effective implementation of the African Water Vision 2025 was crucial to addressing the multiple challenges, enhancing access to water and strengthening integrated water resources management on the continent. The Forum called on governments to improve access to appropriate technologies; enhance capacity in the water sector; and create an enabling environment through better water governance regimes, with institutional arrangements that recognize the interdependence of water usage among competing sectors and that make use of cross-sectoral planning. The high-level political forum on sustainable development is being convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council

Fatima Jinnah
Although fifty years have passed since the death of Fatima Jinnah - author, activist and stateswoman known in Pakistan as the 'mother of the nation' - this is the first scholarly biography to tackle her life in full. Her background and contribution to Muslim nationalism under the British Raj, as well as her various efforts to consolidate the state, including a run for president in 1964, are told through previously untapped archival sources. Examining her life in the context of scholarship on South Asia and on women in Islam, Pirbhai assesses Fatima Jinnah's role through the theoretical lens of the colonial 'new woman'. This is essential reading for all those interested in modern South Asian and Islamic history, particularly the themes of gender and colonialism, the roots of Muslim nationalism and the early challenges facing the Pakistani state, as shown through the extraordinary lived experience of its most influential female activist.</jats:p

Actuality of the Messages of Fatima in the Churches of Our Lady of Fatima in Croatia
Stotinu godina nakon fatimskih događaja u Crkvi u Hrvata prisutne su i aktualne Gospine poruke iz Fatime. O tome svjedoče i crkve posvećene Gospi Fatimskoj u kojima Kristovi vjernici svoj život nadahnjuju na fatimskim porukama molitve i pokore, obraćenja i mira. A hundred years after the events at Fatima, the messages from Our Lady of Fatima are present and active among the faithful Croatians. This is evident through the amount of churches dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, in which Christ’s believers are inspired by the Fatima messages of prayer and penance, conversion and peace. In this article, the author presents these churches and remarks on the acceptance of the messages of Our Lady of Fatima in them over time. In the introduction, he writes about the arrival of news regarding the Fatima events to the Croatian territory, the start of the pilgrimage of believers in Fatima and the beginning and delving devotion to Our Lady of Fatima among Croatian Catholics. This is evident through the construction of churches, chapels, and small chapels in her honour. In the conclusion, he evaluates the acceptance and actualization of Fatima’s messages in these churches and their influence on the Marian devotion in the Croatian regions
