Altun, Ishak/0000-0002-7967-0554; Samet, Bessem/0000-0002-6769-3417In this paper, we present a new class of pseudo Picard operators in the setting of generalized metric spaces introduced recently in [M. JLELI AND B. SAMET: A generalized metric space and related fixed point theorems, Fixed Point Theory Appl., (2015) 2015:61]. An example is provided to illustrate the main result.Deanship of Scientific Research at King Saud UniversityDeanship of Scientific Research at King Saud University [RGP-237]The second author extends his appreciation to the Deanship of Scientific Research at King Saud University for funding this work through research group No RGP-237
Meir-Keeler Type Contractions on Js-Metric Spaces and Related Fixed Point Theorems
KARAPINAR, ERDAL/0000-0002-6798-3254We introduce two classes of Meir-Keeler type contractions in the framework of JS-metric spaces introduced by Jleli and Samet (2015). For each class, a fixed point result is derived. Some interesting consequences which follow from our obtained results are discussed.King Saud University (Saudi Arabia)The second author extends his appreciation to Distinguished Scientist Fellowship Program (DSFP) at King Saud University (Saudi Arabia)

STATIC AND FATIGUE PERFORMANCE OF ORIENTED STRANDBOARD AS UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE FRAME STOCK
This study investigated the lateral shear resistance of multi-staple joints, static and fatigue bending moment resistances of stapled gusset-plate joints, and fatigue bending performance of full size sofa structural members in three oriented strandboard (OSB) materials. It is concluded that the lateral shear resistance capacity of multi-staple joints in OSB can be predicted with power equations including single-staple lateral resistance capacity, number of staples, and material density. The bending moment resistance of stapled gusset plate joints in OSB can be predicted by mechanical models including the lateral resistance property of multi-staple joints. The static moment capacity study of a gusset-plate joint concluded that its maximum moment resistance is 2 times of its corresponding proportional limit moment resistance. Experimental results indicated that there was no significant difference in lateral shear resistance among vertically-aligned multi-staple joints constructed of three OSB materials even though there were significant differences in lateral resistance among single-staple joints in these three materials. However, there were significant differences in lateral resistances among horizontally-aligned multi-staple joints in three OSB materials. Fatigue test results concluded that the ratio of static to passed fatigue moment capacity of gusset-plate joints was 2.6. The proposed equations reasonably estimated fatigue life of less brittle OSB materials subjected to cyclic stepped and constant fatigue loads but underestimated the brittle OSB material. The ratios of material modulus of rupture to passed fatigue stress were 2.17 and 2.25 for cyclic stepped and constant cyclic tests, respectively
Procjena obilježja puzanja spojeva namještaja s klamericom izrađenih od različitih vrsta drva
In this study, creep characteristics of single stapled furniture joints made of Scotch pine, alder and beech wood under three different load levels were considered. Load levels were determined as 30 %, 40 % and 50 % of the maximum load obtained as a result of static shear test before creep load and applied to wood joints. Laboratory test results showed that the highest creep deformation was observed in the joints made of Scotch pine with the lowest density, while the lowest creep deformation was observed in the joints made of beech with the highest density. In addition, the joints were exposed to lowest creep deformation at the 30 % load level, then the creep deformation of the joints increased at 40 % load level and it reached the highest value at 50 % load level. As a result of creep test, deformation in single stapled joints made of Scotch pine, alder and beech were determined as 2.74 %, 3.71 % and 4.37 % of the deformation that occurred as a result of static shear test performed before creep test, respectively. Ultimately, the overall average creep deformation value of a single staple wood joint under creep loading was determined as 3.61 %.U radu su istraživana obilježja puzanja spojeva namještaja s klamericom izrađenih od borovine, johovine i bukovine pri različitim stupnjevima opterećenja.

Equity as a vehicle for law reform: The case of unilateral mistake
In this paper I ask whether English Law should permit rescission for unilateral mistakes in the formation of contract, in circumstances where the defendant (D) knew or should have known about the claimant’s (C) mistake, and if so, should Equity be (re)employed to deploy the remedy. The paper introduces the Caveat Emptor Common Law rule on this issue, which rules out rescission, and the various considerations that count in its favour. I argue that neither considerations from efficiency, nor those based in ethics can justify the current rule, and that new, flexible and morally-sensitive resolution is called for. If we examine the way in which Equity intervenes to reform areas of law where the Common Law fails to provide a satisfactory solution to legal disputes, we will see that the Caveat Emptor rule displays exactly the kind of defects that Equity does a very good job at remedying. The law on the duty to disclose information at the precontractual stage emerges as an excellent example for Equity’s great potential as a vehicle for improving the law in a measured, nuanced and imaginative way.Peer reviewe

Bending Moment Resistance of L-Shaped Two-Gusset-Plate Furniture Joints in Oriented Strandboard
Bending moment resistances of L-shaped joints connected with two gusset plates stapled on one side of joint members in oriented strandboard (OSB) were investigated. Factors were joint member material type, rail width, and number of staples. Experimental results showed that ultimate moment resistances of L-shaped, gusset-plate joints ranged from 429 to 842 N-m. Ultimate moment resistance loads of joints connected with 12 staples were 43% higher than those with 8 staples. Ultimate moment resistance loads increased as rail width increased from 152 to 203 mm with an increment of 25.4 mm, but the significance was affected by material type and number of staples. The increase in ultimate moment resistance loads of L-shaped, gusset-plate joints was not sensitive to material density profile change and density increase when 178-mm-wide or less rails were used, but the increase in moment resistances was sensitive to density increase when 203-mm-wide rails were used. Moment load-displacement curves of gusset-plate joints indicated that moment resistance loads at the ultimate point were two times their corresponding moment resistance loads at a proportional limit. The mechanical model was verified experimentally as a valid means for deriving estimation equations of moment resistances of L-shaped, gusset-plate joints in OSB
