    Good practice definitions for DCCs on temperature- and humidity quantities

    Automation in metrological traceability of measurements bears high potential for a more effective quality management with less human interaction and reduced risks from manual data processing. However, this can only be achieved, if the metrological data from the calibration service is provided in a machine-readable and machine-interpretable format. With the provision of an XML-schema for digital calibration certificates (DCCs), PTB has defined a comprehensive frame for machine-readable reports that is applicable to calibrations of arbitrary quantities and methods. In order to increase the interoperability of DCCs, further harmonization needs to be established, especially within the communities of specific measurement quantities. This allows for a straight-forward automation in the processing of DCCs independent from the issuing laboratory. Recently, the German Calibration Service (DKD) has started to compile quantity-specific as well as overarching good practice definitions for DCCs in its various technical committees. The committee for temperature and humidity quantities set the focus on good practice for calibrations according to its guidelines DKD-R 5-1 for resistance thermometers (e.g. Pt100) and DKD-R 5-8 for hygrometers for the direct measurement of relative humidity, first. Here, for several specific expressions, e.g. the used temperature scales (e.g. ITS-90 vs. thermodynamic temperature), the impact of hysteresis and self-heating or the calibration medium used, related XML code implementations are defined and tested. Another important aspect to achieve machine-interpretability of information in a DCC are refType definitions. RefTypes are key semantic providing attributes that are used in the XML code if no unique structure is available in the DCC scheme for a particular information that should still be associated with a specific meaning. Hence, they represent “bookmarks” for the algorithms interpreting good practice DCCs and therefore it is vital that they have a fixed wording. For the case of temperature and humidity calibrations, several refType denotations together with their meanings and allowed locations in the DCC-schema were defined, respectively. These refType definitions will be available in an online refType repository that is hosted by the DKD and can be incorporated into good practice DCCs for validation. The good practice definitions for temperature and humidity DCCs introduced in this contribution will be thoroughly described and published in an open access DKD expert report that is also equipped with validated DCC templates for most common calibration items and procedures. Since most of the added values of an automated metrological traceability are provided on the receiving side of DCCs, specific use cases are currently acquired for temperature and humidity calibrations, respectively. These pilot applications are especially intended to demonstrate the potential of DCC utilization for the industrial metrology and quality management

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

SYM'ler uzaktan algılama teknikleri, arazi ölçmeleri ve topoğrafik haritaların sayısallaştırılmasıyla oluşturulabilirler fakat uzaktan algılama teknikleri ile hızlı ve ekonomik veri elde edildiği için bu yöntem geleneksel yöntemlere göre daha niteliklidir. Hava fotoğrafları ve uydu görüntülerinin retrifikasyonu, 3 boyutlu görselleştirme, kabartma haritalarının oluşturulması, su akışı ve yer hareketlerinin modellenmesi, arazi parametrelerinin çıkarımı SYM'lerin yaygın kullanım alanlarındandır. Bu çalışmanın amacı RADARSAT-2 stereo görüntü çiftinden üretilen radargrametrik SYM'lerin doğruluğunu ve güvenilirliğini araştırmaktır. Bunun için İstanbul bölgesini kapsayan (20x20km), alçalan yörüngede, HH polarizasyonda, SGF formatındaki U7 ve U26 ultrafine modundaki RADARSAT-2 görüntüleri temin edilmiştir. U7 ve U26 görüntüleri sırasıyla yakın-uzak menzillerde 34.00-35.30 ve 48.50-49.50 derecelik bakış açılarıyla 2 Ağustos 2009 ve 30 Temmuz 2009 da algılanmıştır. Çalışmadaki başlıca SYM oluşturma aşamaları; stereo model oluşturma, epipolar görüntülerin oluşturulması, görüntü eşleme ve SYM düzeltme şeklindedir. Stereo modeli oluşturmak için kullanılan yer kontrol noktalarının yatay (X, Y) koordinatları 1m çözünürlüklü IKONOS ortomozaik İstanbul görüntüsünden, yükseklik değerleri ise 1:5000 ölçekli topoğrafik haritalardan oluşturulan 3 m grid boyutundaki referans SYM'den elde edilmiştir. Radargrametrik SYM'ler, Rasyonel Fonksiyonlar Modeli (RFM) ve Toutin'in 3 boyutlu fiziksel modeli (TM) kullanılarak kurulan stereo modelden sonra otomatik olarak oluşturulmuştur. Sonuç olarak Karesel Ortalama Hata (KOH) değerlerine bakıldığında; TM ile üretilen SYM yatayda (X-Y) 1.73 m, düşeyde (Z) 9 m, RFM ile üretilen SYM yatayda 3.04 m ve düşeyde 42 m doğruluğa sahiptir. DEMs can be generated using remote sensing techniques, land surveying or digitizing of topographical maps, however, remote sensing methods are superior to conventional methods since fast and economic data acquisition are possible with remote sensing. Common uses of DEMs include; rectification of aerial photography or satellite imagery, rendering of 3D visualizations, creation of relief maps, modeling water flow or mass movement, extracting terrain parameters. The aim of this study is to investigate the accuracy and reliability of radargrammetric DEMs generated from RADARSAT-2 stereo pairs. Two ultrafine mode images U7 and U26 were acquired over an area in Istanbul (20x 20km) from descending orbit, HH polarization, in SGF format. U7 and U26 were taken on August 2, 2009 and July 30, 2009 with view angles of 34.00-35.30 and 48.50-49.50 at the near-far edges, respectively. The main project steps for DEM generation were; stereo model set up, creating epipolar images, image matching and DEM editing. In order to set up the stereo model, planimetric coordinates (X, Y) of ground control points (GCPs) were obtained from 1m resolution IKONOS orthomosaic İstanbul image and elevation values of GCPs were obtained from a reference DEM created from 1:5000 scaled topographic maps and having 3 m grid size. After the setting up the stereo model with Toutin?s 3D physical model (TM) and Rational Functions Model (RFM), radargrammetric DEMs were generated automatically. Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) values show that; DEM derived from TM has 1.73 m horizontal (X-Y) and 9 m vertical (Z) accuracy, DEM derived from RFM has 3.04 m horizontal and 42 m vertical accuracy.Yüksek LisansM.Sc
