L’internazionalizzazione dei beni digitali
Nel contesto competitivo atttuale le imprese sono costrette a confrontarsi costantemente con forze che spingono sia nella direzione esterna di una crescita internazionale, sia nella direzione interna di una espansione ripiegata entro i confini nazionali. La crescita internazionale non rappresenta necessariamente la direzione obbligatoria per tutte le imprese e per tutti i settori. Comprendere e decidere quali forze assecondare e quali contrastare rappresenta però un passaggio obbligato e cruciale per tutte le imprese, pena il rischio di essere trascinate in posizioni di marginalità o di declino. L'analisi di queste forze, osservate dalla prospettiva delle imprese e dei singoli anelli della catena del valore delle aziende, rappresenta l'obiettivo principale del libro. La nuova edizione del libro, ampliata rispetto alla precedente, approfondisce alcune questioni centrali che si trovano ad affrontare le imprese che decidono di internazionalizzarsi: la valutazione dell'attività di un mercato internazionale, la gestione delle partnership e delle acquisizioni internazionali e i problemi etici da fronteggiare in un contesto internazionale
Preliminary Design of a High Current R&W TF Coil Conductor for the EU DEMO
Paschen failures in ITER, W7-X and JT60 superconducting coils at the acceptance tests have shown that it is highly desirable to lower the coil discharge voltage (Ud) of the DEMO Toroidal Field (TF) coils. Another benefit of lowering the Ud might be the reduction of the number of coil feeders, i.e. connect in series several TF coils to a discharge unit, which is attractive for machine integration. For a given Ampere Turn (AT), one way to reduce the Ud is decreasing the coil inductance L. Since the inductance of a coil is proportional to N2, where N is the number of turns, for a given total TF current N · Iop, decreasing the number of turns corresponds to a higher current flowing through each turn, which results this results in L ∝ I-2op to I -2op. This means that increasing the current will have a quadratic impact on L and thus a linear impact on the discharge voltage Ud making the design of a high-current (~105 kA) CICC attractive for the EUROfusion DEMO project. In the case of DEMO, increasing the operating current from 66 kA to 105 kA leads to a reduction of the TF discharge voltage of a factor 1.6. Designing a high current TF coil conductor layout includes performing mechanical studies to investigate the TF coil mechanical stability during operation. This contribution will thus present the first design for a react-and-wind TF conductor made of Nb3Sn and Cu as stabilizer designed for an operating current of 105 kA alongside the results of a dedicated 2D mechanical analysis
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Bending Tolerance of React&Wind Nb3Sn Conductors for Fusion Magnets
The react-and-wind technique for manufacturing of large Nb3Sn fusion magnets (RW) is very attractive because of the superior performance of the Nb3Sn with lower thermal strain compared to the wind-and-react technique. The procedure for magnet winding is also drastically simplified for the RW approach. The flat cable, made of a large number of Nb3Sn strands, is heat treated on a spool with constant radius. Then the cable is unspooled to assemble the conductor with stabilizer/steel jacket and wound on a spool to be shipped to the winding factory, where the conductor is unspooled and wound in the final geometry - either round shape for Central Solenoid or D-shape for Toroidal Field Coils. The bending strain must be controlled during the handling from heat treatment to the final magnet in order not to exceed the irreversible strain limit. For design purposes, it is assumed so far that a bending strain ±0.3% during handling is acceptable. In this work, the bending tolerance of a 63 kA RW fusion conductor is investigated by monitoring the performance in the SULTAN test facility after bending/straightening at decreasing radii till a degradation of the current sharing temperature performance, Tcs, is observed. The experimental assessment of the bending tolerance during handling is a major instrument for dimensioning of the cable thickness and heat treatment radius of the RW conductors for fusion
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
