Demarest (1863–1956), an alumnus (1863) and the president of Rutgers (1906 to 1924) and author of the first comprehensive history of Rutgers, The History of Rutgers College (Princeton University Press, 1924), presents a detailed history of the Rutgers library, including finances, personnel, collections acquired and its various locations, from the books made available by Rutgers' first tutors in the 1770s to 1937 when the collections were housed in the Voorhees Library, the first purposely-built library building with holdings of 300,000 volumes

in women. Mean level of self-reported BMI was 26.7kg/m2 (26.3-27.2kg/m2) in men and 25.3 kg/m2 (24.8-25.9kg/m2) in women. Conclusions: In 2023-2024, obesity prevalence resulted similar to HES data of 15 and 5 years ago, both in men and women, going in the direction of WHO target. However, 70% of men and 55% of women are in the overweight/obesity condition. Preventive actions at national and community level should be still massively implemented. Significant differences were found between measured and self-reported obesity supporting the WHO recommendation to monitor targets by periodic HESs. Key messages: • A quite stable obesity prevalence trend was observed in comparison to 15 and 5 years ago, but obesity and overweight resulted still prevalent in the Italian adult general population. • Significant differences resulted between measured and self-reported obesity prevalence supporting the WHO recommendation to monitor targets by periodic health examination surveys. Data is needed to plan health policies, health promotion actions, and to evaluate outcome. Finland's register-based system for monitoring childhood overweight and obesity can serve as a model for other countries

Validation of the Dutch-Flemish translated ABCD questionnaire to measure cardiovascular diseases knowledge and risk perception among adults

Valid and reliable measurement of an individual’s knowledge and risk perception is pivotal to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions aimed at preventing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The recently developed Attitudes and Beliefs about Cardiovascular Disease (ABCD) knowledge and risk questionnaire is shown to be valid in England. In this study, we evaluated the psychometric properties of the modified and Dutch (Flemish)-translated ABCD questionnaire using both the classical test and item response theory (IRT) analysis. We conducted a community-based survey among 525 adults in Antwerp city, Belgium. We assessed the item- and scale-level psychometric properties and validity indices of the questionnaire. Parameters of IRT, item scalability, monotonicity, item difficulty and discrimination, and item fit statistics were evaluated. Furthermore, exploratory and confirmatory factorial validity, and internal consistency measures were explored. Descriptive statistics showed that both the knowledge and risk scale items have sufficient variation to differentiate individuals’ level of knowledge and risk perception. The overall homogeneity of the knowledge and risk subscales was within the acceptable range (> 0.3). The exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses of the risk scale supported a three-factor solution corresponding to risk perception (F1), perceived benefits and intention to change physical activity (F2), and perceived benefit and intention to change healthy dietary habit (F3). The two parametric logistic (2-PL) and rating scale models showed that the item infit and outfit values for knowledge and risk subscales were within the acceptable range (0.6 to 1.4) for most of the items. In conclusion, this study investigated the Dutch (Flemish) version of the ABCD questionnaire has good psychometric properties to assess CVD related knowledge and risk perception in the adult population. Based on the factor loadings and other psychometric properties, we suggested a shorter version, which has comparable psychometric properties.</p

Diffusive author(s), cohesive author: Analysis of S/N (1994)

This study indicates the ways in which various aspects of the author(s) are brought forth in Dumb type’s performance art, the S/N production. Previous research has suggested a non-hierarchical organization of Dumb type and the absence of a “privileged author” in Dumb type’s collaborative work, S/N. However, the results that I have investigated from member’s interviews on the creative process of S/N along with my analysis of the recorded images of S/N, indicate a different aspect of the author(s). First, S/N was created through, so to speak, the collective ideas of the members of Dumb type. Further, S/N has at least nine quotations from previous performances, installations, and printed writings, besides the work-in-progress technique. Explicating one of the “author functions” as given by Michel Foucault, each text has plural subjects of the author. However, it has been revealed from members’ interviews that Teiji Furuhashi had a decision-making role in selecting the members’ ideas within the performance. Since then, S/N has had plural subjects of creation; however, Furuhashi is one of the subjects of creation along with the “privileged author.” S/N has plural authors (diffusive authors) yet at the same time, it has a “privileged author,” Teiji Furuhashi (cohesive author)

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

This journal was published quarterly from 1903 to 1981 with the twofold purpose of providing "a record of Mission activities [and] also a strong and convincing appeal to every supporter and friend of Dr. Grenfell's work." The articles describe mission life, services and experiences. The Mission began under the auspices of the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen but later a separate mission, the International Grenfell Association, was formed by Dr. Wilfred Grenfell

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
