How May I Help You?
May I Help You? is Deepak Singh’s insightful and thought-provoking account of disillusionment when, as an educated upper-class Indian, he moves with his American wife to the United States and discovers that America doesn’t care if he has an MBA from India or had worked for the BBC. Like many immigrants before him, Singh discovers that in America employers only trust him with a minimum wage job as a clerk, but his disappointment and embarrassment soon give way to shock when he realizes that in this world of low-wage work he is joined not merely by other immigrants, but by many Americans, a whole swath of the citizenry who goes unacknowledged and unassisted in their struggles to make a living wage. In sincere and straightforward prose, Singh takes the reader along on his journey full of dismay and compassion when the expectations he had of the United States, built around interactions in India with well-educated, affluent expatriates, collide with the reality of a coworker who must skip lunch until payday and the customers who buy in anticipation of a paycheck.</p

From Pedrolino to a Pierrot: The Origin, Ancestry and Ambivalence of the British Pierrot Troupe
In this article, the author considers the British development of the seaside Pierrot troupe, arguing that its construction is consistent with the notion of invented tradition, and the associated concerns with identity and nationality. Tracing the history of the character from its origins as Pedrolino in the commedia dell’arte, the article considers the traditional and novel elements of the British form. This also allows a brief account of the origin and aesthetics of the British tradition. Reflecting on the synthesis of the archaic and contemporary dimensions of the form, the author proposes that the new structure constructed an ambivalent class of character. The composition of both troupes and audiences was drawn from across the range of social strata. Through its collectivity and its treatment of contemporary social themes, it is argued the British Pierrot troupe approached and negotiated questions of a cultural and national identity in the late-Victorian period.

Cooperative institutions and horticultural exports in new trade regime
Developing countries like India should find potentiality in non- traditional exports at a time when growth in the traditional ones is foundering. At the same time, it deserves mention that the future growth in horticultural production in developing world mainly depend on future price mechanism and also on the import demand of these high value crops in various regions of the world. The production deficit of various regions in fruits and vegetables will act as engine of export growth of the same for developing nations. Import demand for fruits and vegetables has already been predicted to grow sharply in developed region of the world in the near future. This will lead to rise in export prices, especially for fruits. Production deficit of other countries and regions and a likelihood of rise in export prices of these high value crops may serve as a catalyst for significant expansion in the production of horticultural crops, particularly in developing world. India is expected to take advantage of this situation and cooperatives are likely to play a key role in shaping India’s exports. However, in order to exploit this situation cooperatives have to be developed as economically effective organizations, capable of meeting the challenges of the new, liberalized economic environment. Besides, they have to achieve full utilization of the existing infrastructural facilities with due emphasis on scaling up of the economy through expansion of production capacity and upgradation of technology.Cooperative Institutions Horticultural Exports
