Electrochemical behaviour of Solanum trilobatum plant extract on stainless steel in natural sea water environment

    No full text
Abstract In the present work, inhibition efficacy of Solanum trilobatum leaves (STL) extract on the corrosion of stainless steel in natural sea water environment is studied by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. Results from the study indicate that the inhibition efficiency increased with increase of inhibitor concentration and achieved maximum of more than 80% for polarization as well as impedance measurements. Electrochemical measurements show that both polarization and charge transfer resistances increases with increase of inhibitor concentration. The adsorption of STL inhibitor on the stainless steel surface obeys Frumkin adsorption isotherm and the calculated values of ∆G ads indicate that the adsorbed layer is spontaneous and stable one. Introduction: Why is philosophy relevant for clinical practice?

    No full text
This book is intended as an intellectual resource for clinicians and healthcare professionals who are interested in digging deeper into the philosophical foundations of their daily practice. It is a tool for understanding some of the philosophical motivations and rationality behind the way medicine and healthcare are studied, evaluated and practiced. In particular, this book illustrates the impact that our thinking about causality, both philosophically and conceptually, has on the clinical encounter. The aim is to engage and empower healthcare professionals to take part in changing and defining the premises for their own practice. After all, if clinical decisions should be based on evidence, this ought to be evidence that is relevant and well-suited for the clinic. The book has two parts, Philosophical Framework and Application to the Clinic. The first part is written from the philosophical perspective and presents a singular overall framework. The second part is written primarily by clinicians who address some implications of the philosophical framework for different aspects of their own practice.Ethics & Philosophy of Technolog

Conclusion: Causehealth recommendations for making causal evidence clinically relevant and informed

    No full text
From the philosophical perspective presented in the first part of this book, together with the clinical application of this framework in the second part, it follows that we must change the way we approach causal evidence of health and illness conceptually, methodologically and practically. This has some practical consequences for the clinical encounter, as discussed throughout the book. We here offer some specific CauseHealth recommendations for making causal evidence more clinically relevant and better informed by the clinical encounter. The recommendations follow from an overall consideration of the previous chapters, both the philosophical framework and its clinical implications.Ethics & Philosophy of Technolog

TITLENew data about the true author of «La Rani-ratiguerra» (1790), in the correspondence of the count of Lumiares.ABSTRACTIn the correspondence maintained between 1773 and 1778 by Antonio Valcárcel Pío de Saboya, count of Lumiares, with the illustrated Gregorio Mayans and the antiquarian Antonio Mosti, there are certain manifestations related to an unpublished manuscript poetry that Valcárcel intended to publish anonymously despite knowing that its author was the jesuit Martín Marín. Inhibitive and Adsorption Properties of Punica granatum Extract on Brass in Acid Media

    No full text
The inhibition efficacy of Punica granatum extract on the corrosion of Brass in 1N HCl has been studied by mass loss measurments at various time and temperature. The inhibition efficiency is markedly higher in HCl environment with addition of Punica granatum extract compared with those in the inhibitor free solution. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase of inhibitor concentration but decreased with rise in temperature and time. Based on the values of activation energy, free energy of adsorption and variation of inhibition efficiency with temperature, a physical adsorption mechanism is proposed for the adsorption of Punica granatum on the surface of Brass. It is found to follows Langmuir and Fremkin adsorption isotherms. The alcoholic extract of bio-inhibitor and the corrosion product (with inhibitor) is analysed by UV, IR and XRD studies leads to the bio-inhibitor as an adsorption inhibitor. This paper discusses three songs in the rani work ceremony at GBKP Runggun Tiga Juhar, STM Hulu sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency. Kerja rani is one of the ceremonies held on cultural week at GBKP Runggun Tiga Juhar. The rani work ceremony is one of the sources of church finances by collecting offerings and then conducting an auction. Some of the songs used in the rani work ceremony are Sendah kerja rani, Mbuah page, and Mejuah-juah. Sendah kerja rani is a song that must be sung because it is directly related to agriculture in the Karo tribe. While the other two songs, namely the songs Mbuah page and Mejuah-juah are taken from folk songs created by Djaga depari. This research aims to analyze the meaning of the text and the musical function of the three rani work ceremony songs. In answering the research objectives, the author uses the method of field work and desk work proposed by Bruno Netll. The theory used to answer the main problem in this paper is the semiotic theory pioneered by Roland Barthes, especially the meaning of denotation and connotation. The results of the study revealed that the rani work ceremony at GBKP Runggun Tiga Juhar is one way for the church to maintain culture and liven up the atmosphere of the ceremony. The three songs in the rani work ceremony have the process of the ceremony, the meaning of the text and its functions. It can be concluded that the rani work ceremony still continues by using the rani songs.100 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Povijest znanosti i prirodne filozofije u Hrvata (s osobitim obzirom na egzaktne znanosti) Knjiga III Rani novi vijek

This volume (The Early Modern Period) is the third part of The History of Science and Natural Philosophy among the Croats (with particular reference to the exact sciences) by academician Žarko Dadić. The first two volumes were The Middle Ages (2015) and The Renaissance (2016). Volume I covered the Middle Ages up to 1526, and Volume II the period from 1526 to the end of the sixteenth century. The third part covers events from 1600 to 1699. According to the author, “the 17th century, though considered part of late medieval times, can also be identified as the Early Modern Age. In philosophical and scientific terms, it was a particular age which differed from the Renaissance and in which the foundations of completely new philosophical and scientific attitudes were laid”. 8
