Deborah Cook, Thwarted Voices Concert- Guest Artist
Deborah Cook is one of the most distinguished sopranos of her generation. As can be ascertained from the accompanying CV her career literally soared from triumph to triumph. Ms Cook\u27s voice has retained the freshness and expressiveness of youth, her previous guest appearances on Phillip Silver\u27s Thwarted Voices program were met by enthusiastic audience approbation. We are very happy that Deborah Cook will appear on next year\u27s Thwarted Voices event. This concert, scheduled for October 23,201},will include lieder by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, a composer with whom Ms Cook is very familiar and will include a performance of a stunning lieder cycle entitled The Eternal . The time commitment by Ms. Cook for this concert will include three preparatory rehearsals, a dress rehearsal and the concert itself

Thwarted Voices - Guest Artist Deborah Cook
Now in it\u27s sixth season, Dr. Phillip Silver\u27s Thwarted Voices concert series provides an opportunity to present what is called forgotten music composed by Jewish musicians victimized by the Nationalist Socialist racist policies of the Holocaust in Europe. Some composers perished in Nazi concentrations camps and others escaped by fleeing, in some cases to America. But much of their music has remained unperformed over the years. In the fall concert, Dr. Silver will perform works by Arnold Schoenberg, who was forced into exile by the Nazis in 1933 and emigrated to Paris. Dr. Silver will be accompanied by Deborah Cook, who made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 1976 as Gilda in Rigoletto
