A Case of DEB-TACE Combined with Anlotinib for Treatment of Liver Metastasis from Retroperitoneal Leiomyosarcoma
Huiying Cui, Qiang Xu, Zhezhu Han, Songnan Zhang Department of Oncology, Yanbian University Hospital, Yanji, 133000, People’s Republic of ChinaCorrespondence: Songnan Zhang, Department of Oncology, The Affiliated Hospital of Yanbian University, No. 1327 Juzi Street, Yanji City, Jilin Province, 133000, People’s Republic of China, Email [email protected]: Retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcomas are characterized by a high rate of local recurrence and distal metastases. The optimal treatment for prolonged survival remains unknown.Case Presentation: This study reports a patient with leiomyosarcoma (LMS) diagnosed through postoperative recurrence with failed systemic chemotherapy. The patient underwent retroperitoneal tumor resection and surgical pathology showed LMS.A CT scan of the abdomen was performed one year after the surgical procedure, which revealed the presence of multiple intrahepatic metastases. Two cycles of systemic chemotherapy with a combination of doxorubicin and ifosfamide were performed, after which imaging assessment showed the intrahepatic lesions were significantly enlarged compared to prior ones. Considering the failure of systemic chemotherapy, the patient was treated with drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) eight times with simultaneous targeted therapy with anlotinib, and the disease control time reached 29 months. Conclusion: This case provides a new treatment option for patients with multiple liver metastases from retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma, which is discussed in the context of this case. Keywords: DEB-TACE, retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, targeted therap
Native Support for DEB Packages in Spacewalk
The system Spacewalk is a managment tool for the linux operating systems based on RPM package manager. The aim of thesis is adding support to Spacewalk for DEB package managment system, which is connected with Debian, a distribution of linux operating system. The result is native support of managing Debian system by the Spacewalk, what includes a registration of system, distribution of configuration files, remote scripts running and managment of DEB packages.
Spillover impacts of sorghum research
A technological breakthrough in agriculture often leads to increased yields, or improves the quality
of output, or enhances the efficiency of input use. If the new technology has applicability beyond
the confines of the location for which it was generated, or beyond the commodity for which it was
developed, such an effect is commonly referred to as spillover effects. A review (Deb and Bantilan
2001) of the spillover impacts of agricultural research has covered the evolution of the concept
over time, different types of spillovers dealt in literature and techniques to quantify spillover
impacts by different studies on the subject..
A hypothalamic micro-circuit for social escape decision making
Animals display a wide range of behaviours that are in service to their survival, some of the most critical of which are defensive behaviours. These behavioural strategies help the animals cope with dangerous situations, and the exact behavioural choice depends upon the context and nature of threat. Some of the behavioural strategies such as active avoidance, passive defence and aggression are thought to be mediated by the centrally located hypothalamic nuclei constituting the medial hypothalamic defensive circuit. One of these is the Ventromedial Hypothalamus (VMH) which has been implicated in avoidance and attack directed towards threats. Even as the VMH has been implicated in modulating such behaviours, how it might threshold a transition to escape is unclear. In this thesis, I investigated the micro-circuit within the ventrolateral subdivision of the VMH (VMHvl) in mice that have a history of social defeat, as they faced a social threat and displayed avoidance. Using in vivo electrophysiology recordings in a novel behavioural test introduced here, I recorded from the VMHvl of male and female mice to find the neural correlates of avoidance. In combination to the extracellular recordings, I used optogenetic stimulation of targeted cell classes - namely the motor output cells and the inhibitory cells in the male VMHvl, to map out the connectivity within the micro-circuit and verify a proposed connectivity model for escape decision making. Using the activity dynamics of the correlates of avoidance, I propose a combinatorial encoding with which the cells within the male VMHvl might bring about assessment as well as avoidance behaviours, in the current context. Finally, I confirmed the presence of cells in female mice which modulated their activity with social avoidance in a manner similar to that seen in males. These results suggest a role of the VMHvl in setting an escape threshold in both the male and the female brain, under conditions of social fear
Diffusive author(s), cohesive author: Analysis of S/N (1994)
This study indicates the ways in which various aspects of the author(s) are brought forth in Dumb type’s performance art, the S/N production. Previous research has suggested a non-hierarchical organization of Dumb type and the absence of a “privileged author” in Dumb type’s collaborative work, S/N. However, the results that I have investigated from member’s interviews on the creative process of S/N along with my analysis of the recorded images of S/N, indicate a different aspect of the author(s). First, S/N was created through, so to speak, the collective ideas of the members of Dumb type. Further, S/N has at least nine quotations from previous performances, installations, and printed writings, besides the work-in-progress technique. Explicating one of the “author functions” as given by Michel Foucault, each text has plural subjects of the author. However, it has been revealed from members’ interviews that Teiji Furuhashi had a decision-making role in selecting the members’ ideas within the performance. Since then, S/N has had plural subjects of creation; however, Furuhashi is one of the subjects of creation along with the “privileged author.” S/N has plural authors (diffusive authors) yet at the same time, it has a “privileged author,” Teiji Furuhashi (cohesive author)
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
