A methodological study on the projects developed by the Cologne Center for Humanities (CCeH)
This paper exposes the modus operandi in creating digital cultural entities (DCE) by an international academic reality, notably the Cologne Center for eHumanities (CCeH), after spending a semester studying in the centre in question. Firstly, an explanation of the mechanisms and methodologies implemented
in the digital creation of cultural resources will be provided. Subsequently, the development and preservation methods of digital entities will be analysed. The CCeH dedicates its activities to academic research projects. The main goal is to support teaching and learning, reflecting on specific areas of study by implementing the methodology and processes that manage technology in the cultural field. Once the intent, the goals and the results are explained, some good practices dedicated to creating new digital cultural artefacts are underlined. It is also considered the impact of awareness that the digital entities created produce, more or less consciously, on the users, who are provided with different levels of digital alphabetisation. In particular, how the final user will have specific importance in the design of projects will be shown: changing the user’s destination means carefully pondering the interaction with the digital creation, with particular attention dedicated to the achievable goal. This work exposes the modus operandi in creating digital cultural entities (DCE) by an international academic reality, notably the Cologne Center for eHumanities (CCeH), after spending a semester studying in the centre in question. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
