DETERMINANTS OF INFLATION IN NIGERIA: A CO- INTEGRATION APPROACH

    No full text
Inflation is undeniable one of most leading and dynamics macroeconomics issues confronting almost all economies of the world. Its dynamism has made it an imperative issue to be considered. Hence the study examines the factors affecting inflation in Nigeria. Time series data were employed for the study. The data was sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria and National Bureau of Statistics. Descriptive statistics and cointegration analysis were the analytical tools used. It was observed that there were variations in the trend pattern of inflation rate. Some of the variables considered were significant in determining inflation in Nigeria. The previous total export was found to have a negative impact on current inflation while the previous total import exerts a positive effect likewise the food price index. It has thus been recommended that policies that will set the interest rate to a level at which it will encourage investment and increase in production level could be institutionalized, importation should be reduced in Nigeria such that it will not encourage change of consumer taste resulting to inflating prices, exchange rate system should be maintained at a level that will not impose threat on the Nigeria economy and the domestic consumption of petroleum product should be focused, not only exportation.Financial Economics,

    No full text
AbstractIt is proposed to improve the efficiency and reliability of moving parts of the compounds, such as roller bearings. The technology of imitation and processing of assembled roller bearings is proposed. The outer ring skew is made in the bearing being relative to the inner ring by angle α. The technological rings skew angle α is indicated as equal, or exceeded the admissible rings skew angle of the bearing for working in real conditions. The optimal processing parameters are calculated by determining the safety factor on the basis of calculating the probability of the destruction of the body

The synthesis and properties of some well-defined fluorinated polymers

    No full text
This thesis describes studies directed to the ring opening metathesis polymerisation (ROMP) of some fluorinated compounds using a range of well-defined initiators. Chapter 1 reviews some general aspects of olefin metathesis and ring opening metathesis polymerisation of relevance to the work described in this thesis. Topics such as piezo- and pyro-electricity and optical and electrical properties of conjugated polymers are introduced and these receive more detailed attention later in the thesis. Chapter 2 describes the synthesis, characterisation and properties of . poly(bis(trifluororaethyl)norbomadiene) in detail. The use of various initiating systems that have been used previously and the effect they have on the tacticity of the resulting polymer raicrostructure are discussed. The latter part of this chapter reviews some of the current thinking concerning the detailed mechanistic aspects of this polymerisation. Chapter 3 reviews attempts directed to an improvement in tacticity control in the synthesis of poly(bis(trifluoromethyl)norbomadiene). The synthesis and activity of the new well-defined initiators used in these studies are reported. It is shown that varying the nature of the ancillary Ligands surrounding the metal centre can have a dramatic influence on the tacticity of the resulting polymer. Chapter 4 reports studies directed to an examination of the limits of the well controlled synthesis of poly(bis(trifluoromethyl)norbornadiene). The syntheses of high trans and high cis, highly tactic poly(bis(trifluoromethyl)norbornadiene samples using well-defined initiating systems are described. It is shown that by varying the monomerinitiator ratio, samples with a wide range of molecular weights can be achieved and these are reported. Chapter 5 describes experiments concerning the ROMP of fluorinated monomers containing six membered rings. In particular ROMP studies of the monomers, 2,3-bis(trifluoromethyl)bicyclo[2.2.2]octa-2,5-diene . and 2,3- (tetrafluorobenzo)bicyclo[2.2.2]octatriene are described finally, Chapter 6 provides a summary of the work reported and outlines some ideas for future studies

This report examines the challenge of adequately addressing adaptation to climate change impacts in developing counties by means of international collaboration, and the reasons why it is in the interest of industrialised countries, including the EU, to do so. This is a topic that has been gaining prominence on the agenda of the international climate change negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as well as in other international forums. After analysing different approaches to the problem of adapting to climate change and reviewing current efforts to adapt to climate change, the report puts forward a range of options. The Church of Christ in early Bernicia: forerunners and foundation

    No full text
A firmly multidlsciplinary approach starts from a theological definition of the Church as the Body of Christ, and Christians as empowered by the Holy Spirit, the possibility of miracle, and the reality of warfare with demons are taken seriously, and scholarly belief in them defended. They are made the subject of excursuses. Hagiographic writings are treated with cautious respect. Bernicia, land and people, and its relationship to its neighbours are considered. In a demographic excursus the view that Dark Age life-span was short is rebuffed. Part two discusses the life and mission of the Church in sub-Roman Britain. In our area evidence for this proves to be largely limited to the shadowy activities of Ninian and Kentigern, therefore further evidence of the status of the British church in the fifth and sixth centuries is sought in Patrick’s Confession and Gildas's De Excidlo Britɸmniae. A new model for the latter - the sermon of the protomartyr Stephen - is proposed; as is a new exegesis of D. E. B. c.69, which may have Implications for our understanding of the persistence of Pelagian beliefs. An excursus considers the significance of white stones in association with Christian burial. The origins of the mission of Augustine are considered briefly. Part three considers the mission of Paulinus in detail, in particular the reasons for its collapse; in contrasting it with the Celtic mission misslological principles are cited. A reappraisal of Paulinus's retreat, more favourable to him than that normally held, is reached by invoking wartime experience. The discipline of obstetrics is involved to advance the theory that /Ethelburh's delivery was premature; also earlier to re-examine the Herbert Ian account of Kentigern's conception, where the 'something contrary to sound doctrine' is identified, against the hitherto standard view, as the apparent approval, by Servanus, of extramarital coitus. The final establishment of the Church in Bernicia is seen as occurring principally as the result of Aidan's mission, but with valid contributions from the British and Roman traditions. That Simeon of Durham gave the credit for this foundation to Oswald is found Justifiable. A new genealogical tree of Oswy has been constructed, and maps have been provided

The safety and efficacy of first-line atezolizumab plus bevacizumab in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma: A multicenter real-world study from Turkey

    No full text
The aim of the study was to evaluate the real-world clinical outcomes of atezolizumab and bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) as the initial therapy for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We retrospectively analyzed 65 patients treated with Atez/Bev for advanced HCC from 22 institutions in Turkey between September 2020 and March 2023. Responses were evaluated by RECIST v1.1 criteria. The median progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Cox regression model was employed to conduct multivariate analyses. The median age was 65 (range, 22-89) years, and 83.1% of the patients were male. A total of 1.5% achieved a complete response, 35.4% had a partial response, 36.9% had stable disease, and 26.2% had progressive disease. The disease control rate was 73.8% and associated with alpha-fetoprotein levels at diagnosis and concomitant antibiotic use. The incidence rates of any grade and grade ? 3 adverse events were 29.2% and 10.7%, respectively. At a median follow-up of 11.3 (3.4-33.3) months, the median PFS and OS were 5.1 (95% CI: 3-7.3) and 18.1 (95% CI: 6.2-29.9) months, respectively. In univariate analyses, ECOG-PS ? 1 (relative to 0), Child-Pugh class B (relative to A), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) > 2.9 (relative to ? 2.9), and concomitant antibiotic use significantly increased the overall risk of mortality. Multivariate analysis revealed that ECOG-PS ? 1 (HR: 2.69, P = .02), NLR > 2.9 (HR: 2.94, P = .017), and concomitant antibiotic use (HR: 4.18, P = .003) were independent predictors of OS. Atez/Bev is an effective and safe first-line therapy for advanced-stage HCC in a real-world setting. The survival benefit was especially promising in patients with a ECOG-PS score of 0, Child-Pugh class A, lower NLR, and patients who were not exposed to antibiotics during the treatment. Устойчивое поведение потребителей: исследование через призму теории поколений

    No full text
Purpose: to present an author-designed methodology for measuring sustainable consumer behavior and the results of its practical evaluation for the verbal modelling of behavior of consumers of generations X, Y and z in conditions of unstable socio-economic and environmental systems. Methods: the study is grounded in the application of methods of content analysis of secondary information and statistical analysis of primary data. Results and implications of the research study are grounded in the use of the author-designed system of indicators of sustainable consumer behavior in the marketing study of the extent of manifestation of such behavior by consumers of generations X, Y, z on a representative sample of 1195 units who reside in more than 200 large cities in Russia. Results: the author-designed customized methodology for measuring sustainable consumer behavior that is grounded in a system of qualitative indicators, classified by clusters of interrelated objectives on sustainable societal development (socio-economic, social and socio-environmental), has been developed. The study findings enabled the authors to identify significant differences in indicators of sustainable behavior of consumers of different generations and to determine their proclivity to exhibit sustainable behavior in the future. The detected differences served as the basis for demonstration of both the verbal models of sustainable behavior of consumers of generations X, Y and z and the possibility to identify generational groups as large market segments for the purposes of differentiating sustainable marketing strategies.Сonclusions and Relevance: the results of testing of the author-designed methodology for measuring sustainable behavior of consumers from different generational groups confirmed the provisions of the generational theory on differences in their behavior, which manifested itself in differentiation of the contribution of consumers of the X, Y, z generations to achieving socio-economic, social and environmental objectives in the country through productive (destructive) behavioral patterns. Therefore, application of generational theory provisions will be instrumental in identifying large target market segments, corresponding to the generational groups with different profiles and models of sustainable behavior, which will require differentiated approach in sustainable marketing.
