No full textIl capitolo offre una panoramica della vastità e della complessità del lavoro sociale. Nella parte introduttiva sono poste in rilievo la specifictà delle competenze e delle caratteristiche del lavoro sociale e il collocarsi storicamente sul confine tra produzione e riproduzione sociale e tra responsabilità privata e pubblica. Nei paragrafi successivi sono presi in considerazione i tratti fondamentali del lavoro sociale in Italia: dal quadro occupazionale, al rapporto tra configurazione del welfare mix e l'impatto sull'occupazione nel settore socioassistenziale, a uno sguardo comparato, attraverso i modelli di occupazione nel settore socioassistenziale e le diseguaglianze che li caratterizzano, a partire da quelle di genere. Il capitolo si conclude con riflessioni sui punti di forza e le prospettive dell'occupazione nel settore sociale, ponendo da un lato attenzione alle prospettive di crescita quantitativa; dall'altro al rilancio della qualità del lavoro sociale, con un richimo alle ambivalenze dei processi di professionalizzazione e sulle potenzialità di tenere conto della voce degli operatori
A job like any other? Working in the social sector between transformations of work and the Crisis of welfare
No full textThe purpose of the essay, introducing the special issue, is to shed light on the restructuring of social work in the context of more general transformations of work. Social work represents an important share of the contemporary job market, especially in the field of services, both in the public and private sectors (mainly education, health, social services). The article presents the different waves of transformation of welfare, from the ‘80s onwards, that have had a significant impact on social work. It starts with an overview of the international context, with specific attention to UK context where privatisation and restructuring of public and welfare state services has been most extensive; then it focuses on Italy, presenting the general features and directions of welfare restructuring taking place in the country and their impact on the care work sector. Finally, the article highlights some shared features and focuses of the different articles composing the Special Issue. Furthermore, it points at possible (and needed) development of the research on the issue: the need of new political narratives of welfare restructuring and developments, the need (and the current weakness) of the voice of social workers with regards to welfare system in the public debate and in policy making; the link between Street Level Bureaucrats’ practices and social services reorganisation and the systematic increase in the exploitation of labour that linked regulation and privatization dynamics

No full textIl contributo si colloca nell’ambito di riflessioni tese ad intende identificare alcuni aspetti chiave del modo in cui va modificandosi il rapporto tra città e lavoro e le trasformazioni del lavoro sociale, al centro del saggio, rappresentano un’utile angolatura per cercare di comprenderle. Il terreno di analisi consiste nelle connessioni tra processi di riconfigurazione della scala locale delle politiche di welfare e la metamorfosi delle condizioni del lavoro sociale. La qualità della vita urbana, in tal senso, è la posta in gioco e il welfare locale ne rappresenta un architrave, sia in quanto terreno su cui la città è chiamata a cercare risposte adeguate alla continua evoluzione dei problemi di integrazione tra le dimensioni dell’economia, della politica, della società e via proseguendo; sia in quanto componente rilevante di quel settore dell’occupazione, il terziario, che svolge un ruolo trainante per il lavoro e lo sviluppo locale che prende forma nelle città. Questa angolazione diventa dunque preziosa per cogliere le potenzialità che il ‘sociale’ può esprimere, per interpretare in modo più giusto alcune delle trasformazioni in corso, ma anche per riconoscere le ambivalenze e i rischi che il welfare, nelle sue rinnovate accezioni, possa in realtà contribuire a quelle operazioni di estrazione di valore che le catene globali promuovono

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
