The lyric poetry of the exiled Austrian-Jewish author Stella Rotenburg, who has received several awards for her work, is an expression of the great tragedy of the 20th century, the Shoah. Stella Rotenberg writes partly to preserve the memory of the victims and partly to come to terms with her own traumatic experiences. Born in 1915 in Vienna, Rotenberg was confronted with anti-Semitism from an early age. The Anschluss of 1938 meant the end of her life in Austria. In 1939 she managed to flee to the Netherlands and to Great Britain, where she lives today. In her poetry, which was written from 1940 onwards, the author made widespread use of biblical texts, themes and figures. This study is devoted to the biblical references in her work.In the introductory part of this study the inter-textual analytical method is presented, and a limited model chosen for this survey of selected biblical references. Further, the use of biblical references in German-language literature, particularly in the 20th Century, is explored. The second chapter examines the life and work of Stella Rotenberg. The third chapter employs the above-mentioned method to analyse two poems: ?Kain? (see Gen. 4: 1-16) and ?Laß mein Volk ziehen? (see Ex. 5: 1). The interpretation of the poems is based on a synopsis of the biblical text, the literary form of the reference, and the biography of the author.Stella Rotenberg?s biblical references are always overshadowed by the Shoah, and express her personal experience of suffering and loss. However she does not use biblical material only to express her own experiences. She also uses the Bible purposefully in her plea for peace, and for a universal right to life.vorgelegt von Edith PetschniggGraz, Univ., Dipl.-Arb., 201

Fully-Dynamic α + 2 Arboricity Decompositions and Implicit Colouring
The arboricity α of a graph is the smallest number of forests necessary to cover its edges, and an arboricity decomposition of a graph is a decomposition of its edges into forests. The best near-linear time algorithm for arboricity decomposition guarantees at most α +2 forests if the graph has arboricity α (Blumenstock and Fischer [Markus Blumenstock and Frank Fischer, 2020]).
In this paper, we study arboricity decomposition for dynamic graphs, that is, graphs that are subject to insertions and deletions of edges. We give an algorithm that, provided the arboricity of the dynamic graph never exceeds α, maintains an α+2 arboricity decomposition of the graph in poly(log n,α) update time, thus matching the number of forests currently obtainable in near-linear time for static (non-changing) graphs.
Our construction goes via dynamic bounded out-degree orientations, and we present a fully-dynamic algorithm that explicitly orients the edges of the dynamic graph, such that no vertex has an out-degree exceeding ⌊ (1+ε)α ⌋ + 2. Our algorithm is deterministic and has a worst-case update time of O(ε^{-6}α² log³ n). The state-of-the-art explicit, deterministic, worst-case algorithm for bounded out-degree orientations maintains a β⋅ α + log_β n out-orientation in O(β²α²+βαlog_β n) time [Tsvi Kopelowitz et al., 2014].
As a consequence, we get an algorithm that maintains an implicit vertex colouring with 4⋅ 2^α colours, in amortised poly-log n update time, and with O(α log n) worst-case query time. Thus, at the expense of log n-factors in the update time, we improve on the number of colours from 2^O(α) to O(2^α) compared to the state-of-the-art for implicit dynamic colouring [Monika Henzinger et al., 2020]
"Lass mein Volk ziehen". Zur Bibelrezeption im lyrischen Werk Stella Rotenbergs

An investigation of children's peer trust across culture: is the composition of peer trust universal?
The components of children's trust in same-gender peers (trust beliefs, ascribed trustworthiness, and dyadic reciprocal trust) were examined in samples of 8- to 11-year-olds from the UK, Italy, and Japan. Trust was assessed by children's ratings of the extent to which same-gender classmates kept promises and kept secrets. Social relations analyses confirmed that children from each country showed significant: (a) actor variance demonstrating reliable individual differences in trust beliefs, (b) partner variance demonstrating reliable individual differences in ascribed trustworthiness, and (c ) relationship variance demonstrating unique relationships between interaction partners. Cultural differences in trust beliefs and ascribed trustworthiness also emerged and these differences were attributed to the tendency for children from cultures that value societal goals to share personal information with the peer group
Dynamic Planar Embedding Is in DynFO
Planar Embedding is a drawing of a graph on the plane such that the edges do not intersect each other except at the vertices. We know that testing the planarity of a graph and computing its embedding (if it exists), can efficiently be computed, both sequentially [John E. Hopcroft and Robert Endre Tarjan, 1974] and in parallel [Vijaya Ramachandran and John H. Reif, 1994], when the entire graph is presented as input.
In the dynamic setting, the input graph changes one edge at a time through insertion and deletions and planarity testing/embedding has to be updated after every change. By storing auxilliary information we can improve the complexity of dynamic planarity testing/embedding over the obvious recomputation from scratch. In the sequential dynamic setting, there has been a series of works [David Eppstein et al., 1996; Giuseppe F. Italiano et al., 1993; Jacob Holm et al., 2018; Jacob Holm and Eva Rotenberg, 2020], culminating in the breakthrough result of polylog(n) sequential time (amortized) planarity testing algorithm of Holm and Rotenberg [Jacob Holm and Eva Rotenberg, 2020].
In this paper we study planar embedding through the lens of DynFO, a parallel dynamic complexity class introduced by Patnaik et al [Sushant Patnaik and Neil Immerman, 1997] (also [Guozhu Dong et al., 1995]). We show that it is possible to dynamically maintain whether an edge can be inserted to a planar graph without causing non-planarity in DynFO. We extend this to show how to maintain an embedding of a planar graph under both edge insertions and deletions, while rejecting edge insertions that violate planarity.
Our main idea is to maintain embeddings of only the triconnected components and a special two-colouring of separating pairs that enables us to side-step cascading flips when embedding of a biconnected planar graph changes, a major issue for sequential dynamic algorithms [Jacob Holm and Eva Rotenberg, 2020; Jacob Holm and Eva Rotenberg, 2020]
Reconsidering first-line treatment for obstructive sleep apnea: A systematic review of the literature
Background: Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is typically recommended as first line therapy for obstructive sleep apnea, but the adherence rate of CPAP is problematic. This study's objective was to systematically review the literature relating to CPAP as first line therapy for OSA and compare it to surgical literature on the same topic. Methods: A systematic review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, examining Medline-Ovid, Embase, and Pubmed databases. The primary search objective was to identify all papers reporting the results of (1) randomized clinical trials (RCT) of CPAP for the treatment of adults with OSA; and (2) both randomized and non-randomized clinical trials and case series on the surgical treatment of OSA in adults. A PhD-level biostatistician first screened papers, and then those that met study criteria were retrieved and analyzed using standardized forms for each author. The primary outcomes were adherence rates of CPAP. Results: A total of 82 controlled clinical trials for CPAP and 69 controlled and non-controlled surgery trials were identified for analysis. Variation in CPAP use within reported RCT trials were identified, and the majority of patients in the studies would eventually be considered non-adherent to CPAP. Conclusions: When considering the numerous patient-related factors that come into play when CPAP is prescribed, the concept of CPAP as gold-standard therapy for OSA should be reconsidered. In many cases surgery can provide a better overall outcome. This study's results suggest that certain patients with OSA may be managed more effectively with surgery than CPAP, without confounding issues of treatment adherence
Development of restrictive disclosure in children's communication with peers
Research supports the conclusion that adults show a
pattern of restrictive disclosure in which they choose to
disclose intimate information to friends rather than
nonfriends. From a developmental perspective, however, only
limited evidence exists for this restrictive disclosure to
friends process in children. The present study was designed
to investigate whether, and if so at what age, children show
the restrictive disclosure to friends in their actual
communication with peers. Sixteen subjects (8 boys and 8
girls) selected from each of kindergarten, second and fourth
grades were asked to "send a message" on a tape recorder to
both a peer friend and peer nonfriend and talk about five
categories which varied in personal content. The results
indicated that the restrictive disclosure to friends pattern
was evident in all three grades examined. Subjects disclosed
overall, more high intimate but not more low intimate
information to friends than to nonfriends. Age differences
were also found in which there was an increase with age in the
restriction of positive personal information to friends.
These findings were discussed in terms of the development of
social modesty
Group counseling: is it beneficial for children who are experiencing divorce cope with depression better?
Plan BDivorce is increasingly disrupting the lives of millions of children each year. Children of divorced families often experience social, educational, and psychological disturbances. Numerous studies have revealed that children of divorce are significantly more depressed than children of intact families (Beer, 1989; Fendrich, Warner, & Weissman, 1990; Rotenberg, Kim, & Herman-Stahl, 1998; Simons, Lin, Gordon, Conger, & Lorenz, 1999; Zubernis, Cassidy, Gillham, Reivich & Jaycox,1999). As a result of these previous findings, it is imperative to discover ways to teach children of divorce to better cope with depression. This research project consists of a review of the literature regarding childhood depression, children of divorce, and a comparison between school-based and community-based interventions that have been used to assist children in coping with any concerns or feelings that they may be experiencing due to their parents’ divorce. The results of past research indicate that group counseling may be effective in helping children handle this difficult time in their lives. However, it appears that there is an insufficient amount of data to strongly support this claim. The purpose of this research is to propose a school-based intervention program to improve children’s coping skills whose families are experiencing divorce
