The literary-theoretical influences on the thought of Hans Frei and Paul Ricoeur, with reference to narrative identity
This thesis analyses those differences in interpretation which occur when separate literary-theoretical approaches are applied to biblical texts. Hans
Frei suggests that the biblical texts describe the world in a way which he calls "realistic narrative". Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutic recognises the disclosive power of the text and translates the subject matter of the text into a "way-of-
being-in-the-world". Thus, the primary identity disclosed by the biblical narratives differs. For Frei, it is the identity of Jesus which is disclosed; for Ricoeur, it is "our common human Christian identity". These two thinkers have usually been compared theologically. However, I contend that the theological investigations of both Frei and Ricoeur have been influenced by the literary approaches which guide their theological work. I give an exposition of this relationship in chapter one. In chapter two, I sketch out the implications of this relationship, focusing on the issue of narrative identity. In the final chapter, critiques of both systems are investigated as I attempt to deal with the force of these objections. This dissertation investigates Frei's and Ricoeur's construals of narrative identity (as constructed through the reading of Biblical texts). My working hypothesis is that the construals of identity formulated by Frei and Ricoeur rely upon formalist, narrative "interpretations”. My thesis contends that in their respective approaches to the notion of narrative identity, neither thinker has completely abandoned his early literary-theoretical roots in his theological proposals

InSPIREd - advances in Conformal Printing: 3D printing onto unknown uneven surfaces
The term Conformal Printing refers to 3D printing onto uneven surfaces. Whilst some very high priced solutions exist for known uneven surfaces, where the toolpath is generated in advance, based on CAD data of the object to be printed onto, there is nothing available yet for conformal printing onto unknown uneven surfaces that are scanned on-the-fly. A low-cost prototype named 'InSPIREd' was recently developed to achieve this, made possible with a combination of multi-disciplinary expertise, ingenuity and problem tackling knowhow, and the latest improvements are presented in this paper. The prototype now includes more capable scanning technology and a simplified calibration procedure
Measuring performance of reverse supply chains in a carpet manufacturer
Increasing attention has been given to the reverse supply chain because of the increasing value of products and technology at the end of direct supply chains as well as the impact of new green legislation. Design strategies for reverse supply chains have remained relatively unexplored and underdeveloped. Meanwhile measuring supply chain performance has also become important as understanding, collaboration and integration has increased between supply chain members. It has also helped companies to target profitable market segments or identify areas for service improvement. This paper will focus on measuring performance of reverse supply chains in carpet manufacturers. A simple general framework of the company is presented as well as mathematical models. This simple general model can be to be applied by small medium enterprises to optimise their reverse supply chain systems

Logic of belief and the content of God: Hans Frei’s theological grammar
This thesis offers a systematic engagement with the theological hermeneutics of Hans
Frei. The two key conceptual categories are “the logic of belief” and “the content of
God”.
The former refers to the grammatical ordering of theological statements: Frei is
concerned to distinguish grammatical logic from ontology, and to establish the actual
starting point for any given theological enterprise. Frei’s own preference for a “linear”
and “cumulative” method built upon the starting point of a realistic narrative reading
of the gospels is unpacked and explored.
The second category, “the content of God”, refers to Frei’s search for an account in
which God has actual reality, as opposed to a mere metaphysical abstraction. Indeed,
for Frei, the arrival – or failure to arrive – at a ‘concrete’ account of God is the test of
any theological starting point, as evidenced in the ability or otherwise to do exegetical
justice to the narrative shape of the crucifixion-resurrection sequence. The thesis
demonstrates that for Frei, the starting point in the logic of belief must be the identity
of Jesus Christ as revealed in scripture, and only on that basis can a concrete content
of God be posited.
In so doing, the intention is to set Frei very firmly within his mid-twentieth century
context, in particular his engagement with and ultimate rejection of existentialist and
Neo-orthodox theology. Accordingly, the thesis traces the development in Frei’s
thinking of these two conceptual categories, from his doctoral thesis on Barth’s early
theology up to and including his twin publications, The Eclipse of Biblical Narrative
(1974) and The Identity of Jesus Christ (1975). Later works by Frei are also
considered in relation to these.
The thesis does not stop at the mid-twentieth century, but illustrates the continued
relevance of Frei’s hermeneutical theology into this century, putting him in
conversation with a number of systematic and biblical theologians. Suggestions are
made as to his applicability to modern theological concerns, including the debate
surrounding the being and action of God: a field where he has yet to be deployed
successfully

Hans Frei: theology and method
This article introduces main topics of Hans Frei’s theology. This author is not well known in the Latin American regional context. This presentation is circumscribed to his late thought and it shows Frei’s understanding as much of theology as of theological method. It also seeks to highlight the transformation of Frei´s reflection when he connects this reflection to his growing interests for vital and contextual aspects of the believer communities
