Pooling of Forecasts
We consider forecasting using a combination, when no model coincides with a non-constant data generation process (DGP). Practical experience suggests that combining forecasts adds value, and can even dominate the best individual device. We show why this can occur when forecasting models are differentially mis-specified, and is likely to occur when the DGP is subject to deterministic shifts. Moreover, averaging may then dominate over estimated weights in the combination. Finally, it cannot be proved that only non-encompassed devices should be retained in the combination. Empirical and Monte Carlo illustrations confirm the analysis.

Infrared astronomy: seeing the heat : from William Herschel to the Herschel space observatory
Uncover the Secrets of the Universe Hidden at Wavelengths beyond Our Optical GazeWilliam Herschel's discovery of infrared light in 1800 led to the development of astronomy at wavelengths other than the optical. Infrared Astronomy - Seeing the Heat: from William Herschel to the Herschel Space Observatory explores the work in astronomy that relies on observations in the infrared. Author David L. Clements, a distinguished academic and science fiction writer, delves into how the universe works, from the planets in our own Solar System to the universe as a whole. The book first presents the major
Comment on "Economic Forecasting in a Changing World" (by Michael Clements and David Hendry)
Michael Clements and David Hendry make realistic assumptions about the nature of the economy and the models used to forecast it. Under those assumptions, Clements and Hendry clarify why forecasting models work when they do, and why they don't work when they don't. Their research also suggests how to improve the forecasting abilities of existing models.A taxonomy of the sources of forecast error underpins Clements and Hendry's analysis. In my comments, I summarize their taxonomy; illustrate several implications, including for predictable and unpredictable forecast uncertainty; and re-examine forecast criteria, focusing on how mean square forecast errors can mislead.

The Personality of Saint Cyprian
History and Catholic tradition have medicated of St. Cyprian a very normal personality accompanied by many notable virtues. It is the purpose of the following study to try to show that the instruments of modern psychiatry. working upon quite different bases. reveal the same conclusion. Doctor J. D. Campbell, psychiatrist to St. Joseph’s Infirmary and Crawford W. Long Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, and instructor in. psychiatry. Emory University Medical School, has furnished the tools with which this study will be made. The writer wishes to make clear that the more materialistic theories in psychiatry, as well as methods, may not necessarily coincide with teachings of the Catholic Church, and for this reason it is felt that this study may be fruitful in so far as, entirely aside from Catholic opinion, St. Cyprian will still reveal himself as a very normal person. |The letters of St, Cyprian are the works chosen for the following Investigation. Le Chanoine Bayard's edition, following the Oxford text, has been used as the field for examination. In the text itself, the translation from the Ante-Nicene Christian Library, edited by Reverend Alexander Roberts, D. D. , and James Donaldson, LL. D. , will be used and will be checked for accuracy against Canon Bayard's work.ProQuest Traditional Publishing Optio
