An integrated methodology for soil moisture analysis using multispectral data in Mongolia
Soil moisture (SM) content is one of the most important environmental variables in relation to land surface climatology, hydrology, and ecology. Long-term SM data-sets on a regional scale provide reasonable information about climate change and global warming specific regions. The aim of this research work is to develop an integrated methodology for SM of kastanozems soils using multispectral satellite data. The study area is Tuv (48°40′30″N and 106°15′55″E) province in the forest steppe zones in Mongolia. In addition to this, land surface temperature (LST) and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) from Landsat satellite images were integrated for the assessment. Furthermore, we used a digital elevation model (DEM) from ASTER satellite image with 30-m resolution. Aspect and slope maps were derived from this DEM. The soil moisture index (SMI) was obtained using spectral information from Landsat satellite data. We used regression analysis to develop the model. The model shows how SMI from satellite depends on LST, NDVI, DEM, Slope, and Aspect in the agricultural area. The results of the model were correlated with the ground SM data in Tuv province. The results indicate that there is a good agreement between output SM and SM of ground truth for agricultural area. Further research is focused on moisture mapping for different natural zones in Mongolia. The innovative part of this research is to estimate SM using drivers which are vegetation, land surface temperature, elevation, aspect, and slope in the forested steppe area. This integrative methodology can be applied for different regions with forest and desert steppe zones
ICT in Pre-Primary Education in Mongolia: A Comparative Analysis of Use of ICT in Pre-Primary Education Institutions across Provinces of Mongolia
Education policymakers have been formalizing ICT policies as part of educational renewal and reform for almost four decades. At the international level, policy for integrating ICT for development was first formulated in the Millennium Development Goals Target 8.F, which states that “in cooperation with the private sector, make available the benefits of new technologies, specifically information and communications” [1]. In Mongolia, over the last decade, many education policy documents and programs have been initiated, legalized and implemented gradually. These initiatives have formed the foundation of the current ICT infrastructure and its access by students and teachers [2-6]. Through the establishment of comparable and policy-relevant indicators, Mongolia contributes significantly towards international benchmarking and monitoring of the integrations and access to ICT in education. The initiatives are essential for policymakers to select priorities, adopt and develop policies based on whether the implementation of new ICT tools in educational institutions are integrated with national capacity and infrastructure levels; the types of ICT are currently being neglected and/or emphasized in relation to usability and affordability; ICT-assisted strategies are evenly distributed nationwide and the types of support mechanisms are currently in place or the lack thereof [2-9].As a part of these, “ICT strategies in education sector for 2012-2016 of Mongolia” [6] was approved in order to identify the initial phase of the implementation of ICT strategic goals and objectives in pre-primary education institutions.The research based on the twelve indicators compiles the results for a period of 2014-2015, provides comparative analysis with 2012 and recommendations to educational institutions [10-12]
THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE USE ON STUDENTS’ CREATIVE THINKING
This study assessed the frequency and attitude of AI use among 39 students at the School of Business of the Mongolian National University of Science and Technology, and four performance criteria of AUT tasks. The results of the study revealed that while the use of Generative AI has a positive impact on fluency, flexibility, and elaboration, it may have a negative impact on originality. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and implement teaching methods that use AI appropriately and in a way that supports creativity. This study is the first practical study conducted among Mongolian students in this area
A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF BUSINESS ANALYTICS ON DECISION-MAKING BASED ON ONLINE COMMERCE CUSTOMER ORDER DATA
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of business analytics methodologies on the quality of managerial decision-making, based on real online commerce data from Company A for the year 2024. The study utilizes a total of 98,432 order records and includes key variables such as district, sub-district (khoroo), order amount, discounts, promotions, and customer purchase frequency.In Power BI, an interactive dashboard was developed to visualize the organization’s sales performance, discount and promotion policies, regional differences, and seasonal fluctuations. In SPSS, the research hypotheses were tested and validated using correlation, regression, and ANOVA analyses. The results indicate that discount and promotion policies have a statistically significant positive relationship with sales performance
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
