First Deployed DAO with True Full Decentralisation

    No full text
Blockchain technology has allowed for the emergence of a new type of organization, the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). They have gained significant traction in recent years, reaching market capitalizations of up to 60 billion USD in 2021. These organizations coordinate economic activity by an unbounded group of people within an adversarial environment. However, despite their potential, currently deployed DAOs face notable challenges related to centralization in governance and infrastructure. This work addresses these limitations by proposing a novel architecture for a fully decentralized DAO with no compromises. We introduce a scalable governance protocol utilizing multi-signature schemes to manage shared assets effectively. To demonstrate the feasibility of our approach, we implement, deploy, and evaluate a real-world DAO called Music DAO. Music DAO serves as a compelling use case, enabling listeners to collectively invest in and listen to their favorite artists. This research represents a significant advancement in the field of decentralized organizations, with the potential to revolutionize the way people collaborate and organize themselves.Computer Science | Data Science and Technolog

The author compares the interpretations, which the leading Russian sinologists worked out for the concept of Dao (Way) in taoist treatise Dao de jing , shows how these interpretations are determined with the points of view on the text designation, philosophical world outlooks and methodological approaches as well, clears up similarities and distinctions between the approaches and the main trends of their evolution

Distances of Poetry: An Introduction to Bei Dao

    No full text
The article introduces to the poetry of Bei Dao, one of the most important contemporary Chinese poets and the founder of the journal "Jintian" [Today]. The author argues that the poetical itinerary of Bei Dao elaborates a series of intellectual "distances". Three of them deserve close analysis: a first distance from the language itself, a second one from other singular rationalities, namely love and politics, an finally a third distance in repect with the sphere of literary knowledge

On the discussion about Zhi Dao between Confucius and Lao-tzu in Zhuangzi

    No full text
Based on the materials about Confucius meeting with Lao-tzu in Zhuangzi, this paper studies about their discussion about Zhi Dao (the regulation of the courses). The strategy of Confucius on Zhi Dao is expounded, and the criticism from Lao-tzu on that is analyzed, as well as Lao-tzu's further proposition on Zhi Dao.CPCI-SSH(ISSHP)541-5468

Tensor decomposition is a crucial task in a wide range of applications and plays a significant role in latent feature extraction and estimation of unobserved entries of data. The problem of efficiently decomposing tensor streams has been of great interest because many real-world data dynamically change over time. However, existing methods for dynamic tensor decomposition sacrifice the accuracy too much, which limits their usages in practice. Moreover, the accuracy loss becomes even more serious when the tensor stream has an inconsistent temporal pattern since the current methods cannot adapt quickly to a sudden change in data. In this paper, we propose DAO-CP, an accurate and efficient online CP decomposition method which adapts to data changes. DAO-CP tracks local error norms of the tensor streams, detecting a change point of the error norms. It then chooses the best strategy depending on the degree of changes to balance the trade-off between speed and accuracy. Specifically, DAO-CP decides whether to (1) reuse the previous factor matrices for the fast running time or (2) discard them and restart the decomposition to increase the accuracy. Experimental results show that DAO-CP achieves the state-of-the-art accuracy without noticeable loss of speed compared to existing methods.N

    Dao de jing

    No full text
Translation of a Chinese Daoist classic, teaching versionThe Dao de jing is one of the two formative texts of the Chinese philosophy of Daoism. Supposedly by an author given the name "Laozi" (Old Master), the text is an anthology of sayings compounded over time, and organized into 81 brief chapters. It has had enormous influence in China, from the ancient period until today. This translation presents a straightforward version of the chapters without commentary, indicating subsections for chapters that are clearly compound. An introduction and glossary are provided. This scholarly translation is intended for both specialists and general readers. It primarily aims to elucidate the intellectual significance of individual passages and to highlight the way philosophical themes interact within the text

Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) and their most prominent version, the blockchain, enable a new type of organization: Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). DAOs consist of software code, mainly smart contracts, and the DAO members. Members keep governance tokens that grant property rights, e.g. voting rights. DAOs are featured by anonymity of their members and zero hierarchy coordination. Subsequently, DAOs are predestined for shaping web3 communities, managing decentralized applications (dApps) and operating digital business of any kind in the future. In last instance, DAOs may be entirely autonomous due to fully automated smart contracts. Since DAOs operate on blockchains, they are far from day-to-day bureaucracy and formal legal requirements. Seen from a common business point of view, startups and entrepreneurs might criticize a lack of structure and decency of DAOs. Moreover, it has been reported that U.S. authorities sued and made DAO initiators and token owners personally liable for violating federal law. This discussion paper describes essential features of DAOs and discusses major characteristics of a business firm. Moreover, the author points at favourable U.S. locations for setting up a DAO with a LLC body, however still keeping core web3 features such as its decentralized mode of operation and anonymity for token owners

    Cohomologically Full Rings

    No full text
Inspired by a question raised by Eisenbud–Mustaţă–Stillman regarding the injectivity of maps from Ext modules to local cohomology modules and the work by the third author with Pham, we introduce a class of rings, which we call cohomologically full rings. This class of rings includes many well-known singularities: Cohen–Macaulay rings, Stanley–Reisner rings, F-pure rings in positive characteristics, and Du Bois singularities in characteristics 0. We prove many basic properties of cohomologically full rings, including their behavior under flat base change. We show that ideals defining these rings satisfy many desirable properties, in particular they have small cohomological and projective dimension. When R is a standard graded algebra over a field of characteristic 0, we show under certain conditions that being cohomologically full is equivalent to the intermediate local cohomology modules being generated in degree 0. Furthermore, we obtain Kodaira-type vanishing and strong bounds on the regularity of cohomologically full graded algebras
