No full textIs narrating with words an experience comparable to that of narrating with images? Can one exist without the other? Can there be a visual imagination without the words that mold us or a verbal experience that is free from the images that we carry inside? In his long and successful career Tullio Pericoli has never ceased to contemplate these questions, and has answered them with his art, his curiosity, his extraordinary ability to watch and listen to faces, behaviors, but also trees, clouds, soil. As a political and cultural cartoonist, as illustrator of literary works, as a world-famous author of writers’ portraits, as landscape painter, set designer, and finally as a theorist of his own artwork, Pericoli teaches us that behind every stroke of the pen or the brush, there are a thousand stories. With lucidity and generosity, Pericoli opens the gates of his art and invites the curious viewer to stroll between the lines of his paintings – lines which, as he likes to say, have a history, a physiognomy, a grammar and even an interiority

No full textPer indagare lo satato nascente della Sociologia del diritto occorre volgere la nostra attenzione a quei giuristi la sensibilità dei quali spingeva, in anni assai risalenti, verso posizioni antidogmatiche dando così l'avvio a un movimento che durante tutto il '900 sposterà l'asse dalla dogmatica giuridica alla sociologia... Se è facile ...derivare le radici della nostra disciplina dalla Filosofia del diritto o dal Diritto privato (come in parte dalla Sociologia stessa), essendo queste materie per definizione affini per filiazione immediata, viceversa non evidente può apparire il rapporto di derivazione dal Diritto commerciale del quale Tullio Ascarelli, tra gli anni Trenta e Cinquanta, è stato il più grande rappresentante italiano.....qulla di Ascarelli è posizione particolarissima; essa, tuttavia, consente di cogliere, subito, l'apertura sociologica del nostro autore....
"Immaginare Robinson Crusoe. Tullio Pericoli e gli altri"
No full textDalla sua prima apparizione sul mercato librario "Robinson Crusoe" genera un flusso ininterrotto di immagini – segno della sua immediata popolarità, ma anche della straordinaria capacità del suo protagonista di ispirare affetto e un senso quasi di intimità in lettori diversissimi. Tra gli indicatori del successo del romanzo figurano senz’altro le illustrazioni, copiose e varie nel corso della sua lunga e fortunata storia. Dalle xilografie delle edizioni economiche settecentesche alle incisioni d’autore delle edizioni più costose, dalle vignette umoristiche dei libri per ragazzi d’epoca vittoriana agli acquarelli di fine Ottocento, sino alle illustrazioni astratte dei livre d’artiste novecenteschi (i cui autori per lo più rifiuterebbero la definizione stessa di “illustrazione”), o a quell’ultima forma di visualizzazione del mito che è rappresentata dal cinema, la ricchissima iconografia del Robinson Crusoe testimonia la straordinaria fortuna del romanzo, ma in un certo senso contribuisce a crearla.
Il saggio ricostruisce alcune tappe di questa storia: dalle illustrazioni delle prime edizioni inglesi o francesi del romanzo (v. il ritratto di Clark e Pine, o quello più noto di Picart) sino all’ampio lavoro di illustrazione compiuto da Tullio Pericoli intorno a Robinson Crusoe (1982-2007). Dall’analisi, il lavoro di Pericoli emerge come una risposta originale e provocatoria alla ricca e complessa tradizione iconografica che lo precede
Analisi dell'efficienza del chelante EDTA per l'estrazione di metalli pesanti da lisciviati di fly ash prodotte da termovalorizzatori
No full textSi è valutata l'efficienza di estrazione di metalli pesanti (Al, Zn, Pb, V, Cr, Cu, Ti, Co, Cd, Ni) da soluzioni ottenute da leaching acido di fly ash da termovalorizzatore. L'efficienza è stata stimata in funzione del pH e del tempo (esperimenti di 24 h e 3 h) e tramite l'utilizzo di un agente chelante (EDTA). Si è dimostrata l'efficienza dell'esperimento di 3 h, che si traduce in un beneficio economico in quanto si ottiene un elevato grado di estrazione in minor tempo
Painting Literature: Tullio Pericoliʼs Robinson Crusoe
No full textAs a cultural and political cartoonist, as an illustrator of literary classics, as
a world-famous portraitist of writers, as a landscape painter, as
a scenographer, as a writer and as a theorist of his own work, Tullio Pericoli
wondered incessantly about the enigma of the story nested in the image or,
vice versa, the image hidden behind the story. Many of his paintings and
drawings presuppose or incorporate the written word. This article explores
Pericoliʼs long fascination with literature, in particular through his important
pictorial work on Daniel Defoeʼs Robinson Crusoe. After an introduction, in
which Pericoliʼs interest in the relation between image and word is discussed
in broader terms, the article offers a close reading and interpretation of
Pericoliʼs work on Robinson Crusoe (1982–2007). This project, which has
intermittently engaged Pericoli for twenty-five years, marks an important
stage in the long history of interpretations of Defoe’s novel and shows the
crucial power of the visual imagination in the reception of a literary classic
Multiscale porosimetric description of pore network in building stones
No full textAs is well known, porosity strong affects physical and mechanical behavior of stones. In
addition, being able to vehicle moisture, porosity has a great influence on durability.
Therefore, the complete knowledge of the pore architecture and the behavior of stones
interested by weathering processes represents a key element in understanding mechanism of
degradation and prevent damage [1-2]. Pore network of stone is traditionally investigated by
porosimetric techniques based on gas adsorption and mercury intrusion. Nevertheless, these
methods appear inadequate for the complete modeling of the microstructure of the rock, since
they are destructive, measure only the open porosity and explore a limited dimensional range.
Moreover, most of these techniques, are based on assumptions about pores shape and
dimension, representing an ideal geometric model of them [2]. As aforementioned, the
quantitative description of stones pore network cannot be generally achieved by a single
technique, considering the real complex geometry and the variability in the dimensional
distribution of voids [3]. In recent years, the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) as
useful tool for studying pore structure in stones has largely increased, also in association with
other methodologies [5-7]. In detail, the technique allows to get information about the pore
size distribution in a water-saturated rock by measuring the transverse and longitudinal
relaxation times of water hydrogen nuclei in a non destructive and non invasive way.
Furthermore the investigation of water diffusion through the porous structure provides
information on the restricted geometry of the network and the obtainment of the average pores
radius and pores interconnection. The main goal of this study is to compare portable NMR
and mercury intrusion porosimetry in characterizing pore size distributions of building stones
and quantify pore network modification due to salt weathering. In detail, this methodological
approach has been applied on a coarse grained calcarenite from Sabucina (Caltanissetta,
Sicily, Italy) widely used as building and replace stone. The obtained data allow to highlight
potential and limitation of the applied analytical methodologies in studying building stone
materials.

A Milk-run routing and Scheduling model for a Smart Manufacturing System
No full textThe fourth industrial transformation can create value for companies. It can bring significant improvements: those who want to be competitive in the market must implement new methods and tools to make plants efficient and productive. Industry 4.0 introduces new paradigms promoting the adoption of innovative technologies. In this context, the material handling system plays a crucial role in increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing systems. This paper proposes a model based on the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows. The model aims to plan a dynamic routing strategy for milk-run to deliver the materials to different working stations, ensuring a materials’ distribution consistent with the time slot and minimizing the tugger trains path. A real industrial full case of a worldwide automotive company validates the model. The results of the study show benefits under economic (cost saving of 18%), environmental (allowed to reduce the distance travelled by tugger trains by around 23% for each work shift) and social (organizational development) perspectives
