Field strength correlators in full QCD
We study, by numerical simulations on a lattice, the behaviour of the gauge-invariant two-point correlation functions of
the gauge field strengths in the QCD vacuum with dynamical fermions
Immune checkpoint blockade in patients with melanoma metastatic to the brain
Metastatic disease to the brain is a frequent manifestation of melanoma and is associated with a very poor outcome. Systemic therapy with cytotoxic chemotherapy provide only a minimal benefit, while surgery and radiotherapy provide in some patients local control but they less frequently affect the overall outcome of melanoma brain metastases (MBM). The advent of active systemic drugs has revolutioned the care of metastatic melanoma, but this benefit has not been translated into intracranial activity. However, since 2010 the anti-CTLA-4 antibody ipilimumab and the BRAF inhibitors, dabrafenib and vemurafenib, have demonstrated initial signs of efficacy in active brain metastases. This chapter reviews the available data and rationale for ongoing and future trials of immune checkpoint-based combination therapy
Topological susceptibility in full QCD at zero and finite temperature
We present a study of the topological susceptibility chi on the lattice for full QCD with 2 and 4 flavours of staggered
fermions at zero and finite temperature T. We find that chi presents a sharp drop across the deconfinement transition. We also
study the dependence of chi on the quark mass at T = 0: we have no conclusive evidence for the expected chiral behaviour
Topological susceptibility at zero and finite T in SU(3) Yang-Mills theory
We determine the topological susceptibility chi at T = 0 in pure SU(3) gauge theory and its behaviour at finite T across the deconfining transition. We use an improved topological charge density operator. chi drops sharply by one order of magnitude at the deconfining temperature Tc
Gauge invariant quark - anti-quark nonlocal condensates in lattice QCD
We study, by numerical simulations on a lattice, the behavior of the gauge-invariant quark-antiquark nonlocal condensates in the QCD vacuum with dynamical fermions. A determination is also done in the quenched approximation and the results are compared with the full-QCD case. The fermionic correlation length is extracted and compared with the analogous gluonic quantity
Topology at zero and finite T in SU(2) Yang-Mills theory
We determine the topological susceptibility chi at T= 0 and its behaviour at finite T across the deconfining transition in
pure SU(2) gauge theory. We use an improved topological charge density operator. chi goes to zero above T_c, but more
slowly than in SU(3) gauge theory
