The GREHDA Project: GALILEO software receiver for high dynamic applications, Institute of Navigation
The GREHDA project (Galileo Software Receiver for High Dynamics Applications) is funded by the European GNSS Supervisory Authority (formerly Galileo Joint Undertaking) under the 6th Framework Program. It focuses on all those applications that require optimized costs and limited engineering budgets like size, weight and power consumption. Moreover, apart from space environmental requirements, these applications have also tight highdynamics technical requirements due to the high relative motion between the receiver and the Galileo satellite
Investigating artisanal fishers’ support for MPAs: Evidence from the Tuscan Archipelago (Mediterranean Sea)
In order to meet the "30 by 30" target of the EU Biodiversity Strategy, efforts for establishing new marine protected areas (MPAs) in European seas will increase in the upcoming years, thus affecting an increasing number of stakeholders. However, despite widely distributed across the globe, many MPAs fail to achieve their goals due to the little weight attributed to fishers' perception as well as their scarce involvement in the different stages of MPA, from planning to management. Using the Tuscan Archipelago as a model system, we gathered artisanal fishers perceptions of MPAs and investigated potential drivers for MPA support. Information was also collected on the level of satisfaction on and involvement into current management of coastal environments, as well as fishers management proposals. Data was gathered from a sample of 27 artisanal fishers (representing 30 % of total fishers) through semi-structured interviews based on an opportunistic+snowball sampling strategy. Several fishers express positive perceptions towards the MPA concept, as long as fishers involvement is granted. Fishers open to the MPA concept are also available to change fishing gear and areas if an MPA includes their usual fishing grounds. Our results suggest that the effectiveness of MPAs in sustaining coastal biodiversity and associated harvestable stocks could be enhanced by the involvement of artisanal fishers in MPA establishment and management
Peach breeding programme for new cultivars and different traits - Pomological and phenological data analysis with a ranking method
The main purposes of the peach breeding programme developed at CRAFRU are presented. These include the selections of new cultivars competitive with the best cultivars present in the market and new types of peaches and nectarines with a flat shape and a completely deanthocyanic flesh and skin. All the descriptive (pomological, phenological and agronomical) data were collected during a period of about 20 years. Data of the 535 single advanced selections (365 peaches and 170 nectarines) and of 125 cultivars (57 peaches, 51 nectarines, 13 flat shape and 4 deanthocyanic fruits, respectively) were elaborated with a ranking method. A first evaluation was made considering the following characteristics: Weight, shape and over-colour extension, taste, firmness, fruit symmetry, yield and ripening period. All the 302 peaches, 42 flat and 21 deanthocyanic selections and all the 161 nectarines, 8 flat and 1 deanthocyanic selections obtained a score that was compared with those of the 72 referring peach cultivars and 53 nectarines. In order to select the most promising accessions for the two fruit types, another specific multi-criteria ranking method was adopted and a second score analysis was done. For the flat form fruit type, the absence of cracking and other damages, for the deanthocyanic flesh fruit type, the white-cream skin, the flesh coloration and the perception of low acid taste were respectively considered. The last step was to exclude the lowest total score selections, the contemporaneous very similar selections, from which only one was maintained, and those that ripen at the same time of the licensed or commercial cultivars but with no superior traits. More than 90% of the cultivars were discarded after the different selection steps. The pomological and phenological characteristics of the top peach selections (11 peaches, 8 nectarines, 8 flat peach and 4 deanthocyanic peaches and 1 nectarine) are presented

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
VIII International Peach Symposium
The main goals of the breeding programme developed at CRA-FRU are
presented. These include the selections of new types of peaches and nectarines. We
considered traits specifically limited to the fruit such as: flat shape, low-acid taste,
anthocyaninless and bloody flesh. All the descriptive (pomological, phenological,
agronomical) data, collected over 20 years on 535 advanced selections (365 peaches and
170 nectarines) were analyzed using a ranking method, in order to depict the best
performing individuals. The most important characteristics in the evaluation were:
weight, shape and over-color (with a higher ranking score), taste, firmness, fruit
symmetry, yield and ripening period. Among the 365 peach selections, 42 flat peaches,
21 anthocyaninless, 39 bloody fleshed and 5 low acid were identified for further analysis.
Among the 170 nectarines, 8 flat, 1 anthocyaninless, 2 low acid, and 20 bloody fleshed
selections were identified for further analysis. In order to select the most promising
individuals, specific multi-criteria ranking method was adopted for each fruit type: for
the flat shape, the absence of cracking and other damages; for low acid, the Soluble
Solid Concentration (SSC); for the anthocyaninless flesh, the white-cream skin and
flesh coloration and the perception of low acid taste; for the bloody flesh, the red flesh
color higher than 35%, the SSC content and the lack of cracking and rust were
considered. The last step was to exclude the contemporaneous selections and those that
ripen at the same time as the licensed or commercial cultivars. Using above criteria it
was possible to discard about 90% of the selections. The pomological and phenological
characteristics of the top peach selections are presente
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
