No full textYu Takeuchi is serving for JAXA since 2007 and currently working as Associate Senior Administrator at Management and Integration Department of Human Spaceflight Technology Directorate. He is also working as Researcher at the Institute of Space Law of Keio University. He received LL.M. degree from the Institute of Air and Space Law of McGill University in 2015. His main interest is in international space law inter alia the legal aspects of space traffic management and sustainable space development. He is a member of the Air Law Institute of Japan, Japanese Society of International Law, and the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).

The Clinical Characteristics of Optic Neuritis in Korean Children
No full textTo study the clinical characteristics of optic neuritis in Korean children. A retrospective review of the medical charts of 20 patients who were diagnosed with optic neuritis before age 10 was conducted in this study. Data were collected on the demographics, clinical features, use of intravenous corticosteroids, neuroimaging, and diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. The mean age at diagnosis was 6.5 ± 1.8 years (range, 3 to 9 years). Seventeen patients (85%) were female, and 13 patients (65%) exhibited bilateral diseases. Visual acuity had decreased to ≤20 / 200 in 16 of the 20 patients, and recovered to ≥20 / 40 in 16 of the 20 patients. The mean duration between the worst visual acuity and 20 / 40 was 2.30 ± 2.91 months. Intravenous corticosteroid treatment was performed in 15 patients and exerted a beneficial effect on the visual outcomes. Disc swelling was observed in 75.8% of the affected eyes. Multiple sclerosis was diagnosed in five patients with a mean follow-up period of 21.9 ± 20.3 months. The presence of lesions in brain magnetic resonance images was identified as the most significant factor with regards to the occurrence of multiple sclerosis. In children with optic neuritis, a profound decrease in initial visual acuity and rapid recovery of visual acuity were confirmed. Corticosteroid treatment resulted in a beneficial effect on visual outcomes, but had no effect on the risk of multiple sclerosis. © 2011 The Korean Ophthalmological SocietyY

Intractability of Optimal Multi-Robot Path Planning on Planar Graphs
No full textWe study the computational complexity of optimally solving multi-robot path planning problems on planar graphs. For four common time- and distance-based objectives, we show that the associated path optimization problems for multiple robots are all NP-complete, even when the underlying graph is planar. Establishing the computational intractability of optimal multi-robot path planning problems on planar graphs has important practical implications. In particular, our result suggests the preferred approach toward solving such problems, when the number of robots is large, is to augment the planar environment to reduce the sharing of paths among robots traveling in opposite directions on those paths. Indeed, such efficiency boosting structures, such as highways and elevated intersections, are ubiquitous in robotics and transportation applications.Peer reviewe

Writing a Wikipedia Article on Cultural Competence in Health Care
No full textThis article describes how librarians created a Wikipedia article on cultural competence in health care to support the medical school’s curriculum. Wikipedia, often considered not as reliable as scholarly articles, continues to be popular. Rutgers librarians conducted a Wikipedia project to improve its content to benefit students. The importance of cultural competency in health care is widely recognized due to increasingly diverse patient populations. Medical schools integrate cultural competency in curricula to train students to be culturally competent. Therefore, this topic was chosen for the Wikipedia Project. It is hoped that health sciences librarians and educators will benefit from their experience
