Multianalytical approach to characterize composition and degradation processes of synthetic high-fashion textiles from the Nanni Strada Design Studio archives
No full textSynthetic textiles are constituents of heritage objects and garments often displayed in museum collections or preserved in archives, presenting unprecedented and specific conservation challenges. These issues need to be addressed assessing degradation processes, and developing targeted restoration and preventive conservation practices. The present work aims at characterizing the composition of high fashion garments and design textiles by Nanni Strada conserved in the archives of Nanni Strada Design Studio (Milan). To identify the chemical composition of the fibers used for the manufacturing, and to investigate the degradation processes affecting the objects, the materials were investigated by Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), Evolved Gas Analysis coupled to Mass Spectrometry (EGA-MS), and multi-shot Pyrolysis coupled to Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). The results will contribute to a better knowledge of the chemical properties of the textiles produced in the 1970s, and to plan conservation and exhibition strategies
KARAKTERISTIK PENDIDIKAN JESUIT DALAM PENDIDIKAN DASAR DAN MENENGAH DI PERKUMPULAN STRADA
No full textAbstract: Strada Association is an educational community belonging to the Archdiocese of Jakarta which was founded by three Jesuits. The establishment and management of the Strada Association has until now been entrusted to the Society of Jesus. Strada's long history indicates that there are characteristics of Jesuit education to be found there. However, since its inception, the characteristics of Jesuit education have not been clearly revealed in the manual on how to act for teachers and leadership elements within the Strada Association. The purpose of this research is to find out the important elements, and the ways in which Branch Head, Supervisor, Principals, and teachers to experience fully, live, and implement the characteristics of Jesuit education in the Strada Association. Through qualitative research methods, researcher seeks to find the characteristics of Jesuit education through in-depth interviews, with key persons (informants), namely people who the author believes know about the situation of the Strada Association. Data analysis was carried out by observing the appreciation, livelihood, and implementation of the characteristics of Jesuit education. The results of the study indicate that the characteristics of Jesuit education in general have been, and are being lived, lived, and implemented by the interviewed informants. The conclusion that can be drawn is that the characteristics of Jesuit education can be found in the Strada Association community.Keywords: college; characteristics; Strada; and formation Abstrak: Perkumpulan Strada merupakan komunitas pendidikan milik Keuskupan Agung Jakarta yang didirikan oleh tiga Jesuit. Pendirian dan pengelolaan Perkumpulan Strada hingga sekarang dipercayakan kepada Serikat Jesus. Sejarah Strada yang panjang, mengindikasikan ada karakteristik pendidikan Jesuit yang dapat ditemukan di sana. Akan tetapi sejak awal pendiriannya karakteristik pendidikan Jesuit belum terungkap secara jelas dalam buku pedoman cara bertindak para guru dan unsur pimpinan di lingkungan Perkumpulan Strada. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui unsur-unsur penting, dan cara Kepala Cabang, Pengawas, para Kepala Sekolah, dan guru dalam menghayati, menghidupi, serta melaksanakan karakteristik pendidikan Jesuit di Perkumpulan Strada. Melalui metode penelitian kualitatif, peneliti berupaya menemukan karakteristik pendidikan Jesuit melalui wawancara mendalam, dengan key person (informan) yaitu orang-orang yang penulis yakini mengetahui tentang keadaan Perkumpulan Strada. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pengamatan terhadap penghayatan, penghidupan, dan pelaksanaan karakteristik pendidikan Jesuit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik pendidikan Jesuit secara umum sudah, dan sedang dihayati, dihidupi, dan dilaksanakan oleh para informan yang diwawancarai. Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik adalah karakteristik pendidikan Jesuit dapat ditemukan di dalam komunitas Perkumpulan Strada.Kata kunci: kolese; karakteristik; Strada; dan formas

Concept and sizing of an e-bike sharing service for commuters to a major metropolitan area
No full textIn the future, mobility will increasingly be a service with the individual at the center, based on multimodal, clean and safe solutions. In this paper, with reference to Milan commuters, a solution is proposed that interconnects private cars with dedicated e-bikes placed at the most important urban and suburban transport hubs. This is suggested as a practical and sustainable alternative to public transportation which, in particular in the post-covid-19 era, is collecting a lot of distrust. The design and sizing of the e-bikes service relies on a real, space-time telematics dataset of numerous vehicles registered in Milan and its neighboring provinces. One year true driving patterns are mined from data and each regular city commuter is associated, through a clustering analysis, to one of the commuting junctions with the public transport network. By appropriately selecting these exchange parkings as those at a distance from the center compatible with an e-bike, a statistical and data analytics methodology, on the basis of adequate hypotheses on contemporaneity and minimum use time of the e-bikes to be compatible with a work activity, allows to size, for each parking, the number of dedicated shared e-bikes to be placed on site in order to meet all the demand

THE TRIASSIC INSECTS FROM MONTE SAN GIORGIO: SYSTEMATICS AND PALEOENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATIONS
No full textA collection of 16 specimens of insects (both adult and larval forms) collected between 1997 and 2003 in the Lower Kalkschieferzone (KSZ) at the Val Mara site D near Meride (Canton Ticino, Svizzera), Monte San Giorgio by the UNIMI team lead by Prof. A. Tintori and Dr. C. Lombardo and with the support by Dr. Markus Felber, then curator at the Museo Cantonale di S.N. in Lugano (MCSN) are here described and the paleoenvironmental implications of this entomofauna is discussed. Monte San Giorgio is a Triassic fossil lagerstätte inscribed since 2003 in the UNESCO World Heritage for its vertebrate fossils, but the importance of its fossil insects is coming into light. The insect assemblage has proved to be exceptional under two aspects: it includes the most ancient fossil record for four groups and it provides the most ancient record of nervous structures (cerebrum and nerve cord) in insects, thanks to preservation through phosphatization. The Kalkschieferzone entomofauna is also quite diverse, including representatives of seven orders, both terrestrial and aquatic, suggesting the existence of a much more complex and stable terrestrial habitat than a carbonatic platform could support

No full textThe infesting habit of the red rice (Oryza sativa subsp. japonica var. sylvatica, 2n=24) and its diffusion have become a serious problem in rice cultivation because of seed shattering, which reduces rice yield and grain quality. The purpose of this work is to characterize red rice chromosomes and to reveal any differences from the karyotype of cultivated rice Loto (Oryza sativa subsp. japonica) used as reference. The first results, obtained by using a detailed chromosome analysis by means of a chromosome image method (CHIA-EA), showed that in the red rice various translocations occur which always involve a chromosome of the first pair together with other elements of the set. Occasional aneuploid cells with 23 (2n-1) and 25 (2n+1) chromosomes were also observed
