Nonlinear Propagation in Multimode Fibers with Random Mode Coupling

    No full text
We present the generalized Manakov equations describing nonlinear propagation in multimode and multicore fiber structures in the presence of random mode coupling and show how they can be extended to model multimode Raman amplification

Estimation of vibration amplitude in Fourier domain optical coherence tomography interferometric signals from Doppler spectrum

    No full text
In presented method combination of Fourier and Time domain detection enables to broaden the effective bandwidth for time dependent Doppler Signal that allows for using higher-order Bessel functions to calculate unambiguously the vibration amplitudes

    Book Review, Environmental Law

    No full text
Reviews a hornbook published by West Publishing Company. The author begins by criticizing the authors for giving little attention to what the author believes might be the most important topic in environmental law—population control. In total, however, the author finds that this book is a competent attempt to effectively cover a large subject matter

Fast Fourier-Transform Second-Harmonic Generation (FFT-SHG) Provides a Solution for Measuring Nonlinear Effects on Fragile Structures

    No full text
The intense laser power required to measure nonlinear effects can damage the structures upon measuring. We demonstrate that fast Fourier-transform second-harmonic generation (FFT-SHG) technique provides an elegant solution to obtain polarization patterns of degrading structures.status: Publishe

Recent Progress in Quantum Imaging and Ghost Imaging

    No full text
We summarize recent work that demonstrates the utility of quantum effects for important technological applications in image science. We emphasize that what was considered to be “quantum weirdness” only a few years ago is today useful technology

Visualizing Quantum State Rotations through Weak Measurements of Orbital Angular Momentum

    No full text
Using the technique of direct measurement, we observe the action of the angular momentum operator as the generator of rotations. Our method employs weak measurements of orbital angular momentum and strong measurements of angular position

    Multi-scale Multi-contrast Photoacoustic Microscopy

    No full text
Photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) is a hybrid imaging technique that acoustically detects optical contrast via the photoacoustic effect. With its excellent scalability, PAM can simultaneously image anatomical, functional, molecular, flow dynamic, and metabolic contrasts in vivo

Technology developments for ACIGA high power test facility for advanced interferometry

Copyright © Institute of Physics and IOP Publishing Limited 2005.The High Optical Power Test Facility for Advanced Interferometry has been built by the Australian Consortium for Interferometric Gravitational Astronomy north of Perth in Western Australia. An 80 m suspended cavity has been prepared in collaboration with LIGO, where a set of experiments to test suspension control and thermal compensation will soon take place. Future experiments will investigate radiation pressure instabilities and optical spring effects in a high power optical cavity with ~200 kW circulating power. The facility combines research and development undertaken by all consortium members, whose latest results are presented.P Barriga, M Barton, D G Blair, A Brooks, R Burman, R Burston, E J Chin, J Chow, D Coward, B Cusack, G de Vine, J Degallaix, J C Dumas, M Feat, S Gras, M Gray, M Hamilton, D Hosken, E Howell, J S Jacob, L Ju, T L Kelly, B H Lee, C Y Lee, K T Lee, A Lun, D E McClelland, K McKenzie, C Mow-Lowry, A Moylan, D Mudge, J Munch, D Rabeling, D Reitze, A Romann, S Schediwy, S M Scott, A Searle, B S Sheard, B J J Slagmolen, P Veitch, J Winterflood, A Woolley, Z Yan and C Zha
