No full textIn an interpretative essay devoted to a poem by Jerzy Liebert Colas Breugnon, the
author of the article searches for the signs of affirmation, which – as it seems – should
permeate into the poem by means of intertextual dialogue. Such a dialogue is held with
a famous novel by Romain Rolland, considered as a manifesto of life optimism. The
relation that seems to have conjoined these two texts is less obvious than one could
think. A figure of Colas Breugnon served Liebert not only to demonstrate the eulogy
of life in all its positive aspects but also to point to the hardships in one’s faith in God
that required from man the acceptance of also those experiences that are beyond the
delights of life
"Like the Papacy of Mexican Cuisine": Mayoras and traditional foods in contemporary Mexico
No full textIn 2010, UNESCO declared Mexican traditional cuisine as Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The figure of the mayora – the wife or concubine of the Spanish American Hacienda owner and therefore principal cook in the Estate household during the colonial period – has over the past couple of decades been recovered, revalorised and promoted in Mexico as a purveyor of ancestral culinary knowledge among First Nations (pueblos originarios). Native ingredients, techniques and practices, mostly transmitted orally and almost exclusively by women, have been reinterpreted and included in the culinary repertoire of high-end restaurants, with mayoras acting as ‘traditional cooks (never ‘chefs’) and guarantors of the intergenerational transmission of ‘traditional Mexican food’.
We seek in this paper to critically explore the political, socioeconomic, and cultural processes by which mayoras have come to represent Mexican culinary authenticity whilst at the same time ‘elevating’ this cuisine to fine dining. In particular, we are interested in explaining how and why First Nation female household cooks so emblematic of Mexico’s settler-colonial past have been recharged with distinctive economic value, cultural authority and political power at the start of the twenty-first century

No full textSe ha realizado un estudio sobre las partículas similares a colas de fago que aparecen en los sobrenadantes liticos de myxococcus coralloides D. en relación con la lisis de esta bacteria. También se ha estudiado la inducción de estas particulas con mitomicina c y luz ultravioleta su composición química estabilidad frente a varios agentes físicos y químicos y actividad biológica. Se ha desarrollado un proceso de purificación. Por otro lado se ha intentado encontrar algún fago capaz de multiplicarse sobre m. coralloides D habiéndose encontrado que esta mixobacteria es resistente a la infección por fagos. Al investigar las causas de dicha resistencia se ha observado que m. coralloides D posee una fuerte actividad dnasa en el espacio periplásmico que digeriría cualquier adn extraño que fuera introducido en las célulasUniversidad de Granada, Departamento de Microbiología. In this paper, we strive to develop the notion of remediation, especially from the theoretical and methodological point of view of Greimassian and post-Greimassian semiotics. More specifically, the semiotics of enunciation approaches the notion of (re)mediation from three different perspectives: from the angle of the “native” mediation, which corresponds to the experience an instance has of the world (Fontanille 2017) ; from the angle of the meaningful configurations brought together in the enunciative praxis ; finally, from the angle of (re)mediational elements involved in the dynamics responsible for the evolution of meaningful objects (Colas-Blaise 2016).
Our paper addresses three issues.
First, our attention is focused on the operations of remediation : the recontextualization (act upon the environment), the remediatization (change to another media), the reformatting (change to another format), the remedialization (transform the medium) and the retextualization (change the micro- and macrotextual relations). From the enunciative point of view and, more precisely, from the perspective of tensive semiotics (Fontanille & Zilberberg 1998), these operations are related to complex dispositives that incorporate and deal with the features of the meaningful objects (origin and destination).
Secondly, we explore the regimes of remediation : hybridization, bricolage, “metissage” or cross-fertilisation and spectacularization. We focus on the digital field (Colas-Blaise 2017) (filmed opera, Google Arts & Culture Project, Visual Aesthetics by Manovich, Living Mona Lisa).
Finally, we emphasize the modalities of the reception of the meaningful objects: the notions of immediacy and hypermediacy (Bolter & Grusin 1999) are studied in the light of the notions of immersion, participation (“participative culture” (Jenkins)) and the creation of a reflexive distance.
